Zombie-Loan

Jan 25, 2011

First thing you'll notice, its short, (or if you're a big nerd like me the real First thing you'll noticed is that square enix was backing this anime). After that, you'll be busy trying to get a grip on the characters and then they throw you into the action, which as you'll find out, has a bit of a twist (which is strange but i like it). So to keep this review short, characters are neat but a little paper thin, its short, HAS POTENTIAL, looks nice, if you want a little action, some small plot holes (maybe they'll be answered in time) and some zombie action (doesn't exactly mean what you think)... When They Cry: Kai

Jun 3, 2013

This season continues after the last one with confusion. It starts off trying to confuse the viewer with misinformation. That being said, most of this season is informative, clearing up questions from the last season. (minor spoilers) Ultimately it seems to wrap everything up yet there are more seasons after this! Characters get more two-dimensional in this season and rarely step out of their expected range. The main character is different from the first season and tries to play like it was always that way. The opening is the old one played backwards and the rest of the music is as expected. Even though... See full review

When They Cry: Higurashi

May 9, 2013

Higurashi season one (the first 26 episodes) may seem like kind of an a$$hole of a season. I say that because nobody is trust worthy, it feels as though the only point of the show is to watch seriously messed up scenarios that continue even though logically they are conflicting. This will be cleared up as you continue to watch season two. How about the characters? Well, they change from arc to arc which feels insulting to me considering the consistency of the characters is so vapid. This too becomes a bit more cleared up in later episodes. Animation-wise it looks fine, and actually only gets better... See full review

Valkyria Chronicles

Feb 7, 2012

I played a fair amount of this game before I started the anime so I already knew what I was getting myself into. The story can be referenced as similar to true experiences throughout history. In a nutshell you follow Squad 7 as they fight to defend Gallia in a war set environment. The animation has a unique stlye to it. It looks kind of scratched or rubbed, after a while you won't notice it. I really like it, everyone in a while you'll re-notice it and that is pretty neat. I really enjoy the 2nd opening. The sound is spot on and solid. I watched this subbed and the voices were all really great. Welkin... See full review

Tsukuyomi -Moon Phase- Special

Jun 1, 2011

See review for Moon Phase, this is an ova, it is however an ova that is better then possibly every episode in the anime, but you may not understand it or the jokes unless you see the anime, it's a good way to top off the series. Silly and funny. It's fairly enjoyable.

Tsukuyomi: Moon Phase

Jun 1, 2011

Story: Annoying vampire girl starts living with her slave, plot comes in later and changes when necessary, changes are pretty smooth. Animation: Pots falling from the sky all the time. Everything else is nothing too spectacular. Sound: Opening song will grow on you a little. Outro is better, and has a neat french version. When setting changes drastically the music does too, this is done well. Characters: Mostly annoying, character development changes them but it takes a long time and they revert slightly. Overall: I must offer praise to the way it doesn't follow ordinary structure. (Minor Spoilers) The... See full review

To Love Ru

May 14, 2012

This will be one quick review. Basically, this anime is pretty terrible however, it is kinda sweet and totally silly at the same time. Main character somehow gets himself married to a chick from another planet and if he doesn't marry her the planet will be destroyed but he likes this quiet chick at his school. Yeah, very ecchi. Boobs in face/ boob jokes/ random reason to look at girls boobs events happen all the time. Somehow I still like this show. The intro song is fun and great.  But really, this anime is super wacky and fun and somehow better than a lot of other ecchi. It is surprisingly sweet... See full review

This Ugly Yet Beautiful World

Jan 25, 2011

Its alright...and that about sums it up. It feels a bit nostalgic, like an anime from they 90's, which includes all of the cliches and problems of back then. The sound and animation is standard I suppose. Most the characters I can't stand, the main character has nothing going for him, and when something shows up for him to protect, he suddenly gains the motivation to spend every once of energy forever protecting her, because she most obvious needs it. Its mostly drama, with some action between huge monsters and the hyper powered main character. Anyways, its okay, feel free to skip.

The Sacred Blacksmith

Jul 8, 2011

Story: Our main character is a knight. The actual plot doesn't show up until the anime is nearing the end. The plot for that matter isn't anything super extraordinary, demons, bad stuff, magic swords to seal them so they don't kill everybody. The animation is smooth, clean, and legit. Sound/Music: I love the ending theme if only for lisa tripping and falling. Anyways, the sounds and music are what you'd expect, nothing groundbreaking here. Characters: The best part. The princess will probably get on your nerves but don;t worry about that. Our protagonist, Cecily Cambell (You'll remember the name, she... See full review

Shining Tears X Wind

Jan 25, 2011

Before we start... one of the worst titles I have ever encountered. OK, characters, paper thin, no depth no emotion, its like this for our main character, "I'm a good guy and don't do bad things." Actually at one point the main character changes and trys to show everyone they can be mature and solve problems when working together, this is good, but he kinda shows it off like, "look at me, i'm better, so hurry up and change." The person most relatible was a robot (however they did her relationship really well!)

When i started this i had high expectations, the first half of the... See full review

Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings

Aug 27, 2012

This anime is very exaggerated and over the top in most ways. It is  still fairly entertaining but at times you may question why you are watching it or why these characters  are the way they are. Not much going on with the story, there is constant strife and everyone will be fighting pretty much at all times, that is also the good news, it looks good. Overall it is okay.

School Days

Sep 25, 2011

School days. Very lighthearted title. This anime however isn't so lighthearted. What's great about this anime is the way it breaks foundations. It begins as a fairly ordinary anime and will proceed not as you expect it, WHICH WILL UPSET MANY PEOPLE. Not everybody is used to such strange turn of events, main characters the audience may not find appealing and events happening as they would in real life, not as you'd expect them to in all the other happy animes that are out there. Animation looks good and sound is fine, opening theme is fairly nice. The music has good moods that occompany it but you'll begin... See full review

Samurai Champloo

Jan 26, 2011

This is best suited for people who don't watch anime much, I've gotten quite a few friends into this who normally stay away from anime. Its really easy to jump in anywhere and enjoy. I would call this afro samurai before afro samurai. The stroy isn't that important (until the end) most episodes are stand alone. Some are wacky, which is important to take all the pressure off of the action, which brings me to my next point. The best action I have EVER seen in an anime! Smooth, well thought out, fast, and very visually appealing.  The music is very important to the flow of the anime and... See full review

Ristorante Paradiso

May 30, 2012

A quaint story about a girl who moves to rome and is romanced by a little resturant hidden in rome. Charming, calm, sophisticated. Very different from normal anime. Not for everyone, not really geared for the younger kids.

The animation looks great and occationaly incorperates some 3D animation. Some of the textures look different and look really interesting. The music always fits as they intend. The characters are delightful and their own, some will even surprise. If you love wine, rome, or other cultures you will enjoy this! It is however a tiny bit slow. Only 11 episodes; wish there were... See full review

RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne

May 26, 2012

Very twisted and bloody. Bold, in what it attempts to do, this anime is not afraid to jump forwatd 40 years without warning. Solid music. It fits really well and even stands alone as a great soundtrack. Animation looks great. A mix of action and drama/investigation. Story can get odd and a little confusing. Episodes are longer than normal episodes. Worth watching if you are curious what animes are capable of but be wary of how bloody and messed up this will get. 8/10 worth watching but be ready for it!

Resident Evil: Degeneration

Jun 1, 2011

Story: Zombies and big corperations and guns and stuff! Animation: Very different than the normal stlye you expect from anime, It pretty much looks like one big cut scene from resident evil 5. Sound: Sets the mood and follows it well. Characters: Leon S Kennedy is a bad ass. Probably the only dude I can think of that can pull off that dreamy swoopy emo boy hair cut. Don't mess with him. Clare Redfield is some pretty sweet back up for him too Overall: Very few things like this, if anything it's fun to watch because it is so different. Sweet action and animation! Worth watching! Give it a shot!

Read Or Die TV

Sep 11, 2011

Excellent. Now that we've established that... Read or die follows three sisters and an popular author. The author looks for an old friend and continues to write. The three sisters are paper masters, this basically means they can manipulate paper to do awesome crazy stuff (think green lantern except he needs lots of paper and the skills to manipulate it properly). During the story the sister will randomly have their own episodes where they go on missons, these seem random but hold purpose later. Characters. Are great! Real, authentic, believeable and honest. Most mesh well together but the ones that... See full review

Princess Jellyfish

Aug 27, 2012

This anime contucts itself the way an anime should. It introduces you to the characters present but allows them to be apart of something bigger while maintaining their quarky roles. The story actually has a progession to it, there isn't a moment of epiphany where everything makes since, everything happens over the time, just like in real life. The story places itself around the characters and the two develop in unison pushing each other forward with baby steps. The characters all look fastly different and you'll rarly mix characters up. Everything is smooth and looks excellent, this works with the... See full review

HAM! Story: Interesting. Yeah, interesting is the correct word. Pretty different, and odd but cool! It's intriguing and you may be a little confused at times but you still want to keep watching and find out. Animation: Looks good, no complaints here. Sound: Nothing super fantastic.  Characters: Most of the main characters and character development are within children, so make of that what you will Overall: It is a good watch, in my opinion not worth buying but intesting and creative, innovative and artisitc, a pretty fun watch. Introduction Warning, this anime is different. It is very different. It is not for everybody. It is slow and thought out and complex. It may be a bumpy ride if you are prepared to zone out and not use your brain. This anime is best to not watch alone, talking it out can help plus this is so crazy you'll want to share the experience with a friend. That being said, The real review begins now. Animation It looks pretty good, it really does. It is terribly honest in its style and has older folks actually looking wrinkly and saggy. Sometimes the animation shows some flaws but... This anime is fun. Period. I missed it when growing up and decided I needed to go back and see what all the fuss was about. Turns out this anime is great. It captures that sense of heroic glory every kid wants growing up. The story is basically a man comes into possession of a ship and is for searching goes on a huge treasure hunt. The animation is kinda old (it is currently 2012) but it still looks good and gets a little better after episode 13. The music is a lot of. It fits the feel of the anime very well. Story: Girls want guy, guy wants girl that is clueless, guy is cursed by cats and can hear them speak. Take the typical harem formula and add cats is basically it. Animation: Legit. Adorable cats, some sweet effects, expressions always spot on, comical style is done super well and highlights what is necessary. Sound: I really like the intro, not only the sound but also the actual happenings. The outro is better than most too but isn't as glorious. (Sidenote, amazing amv called never wanted to dance, worth watching) Characters: Sometimes annoying, usually not so. Not very original but not too close to... See full review

Delightful. Story: Practically zero story, this is a comedy, you don't watch it for the story. Animation: No blatent flaws, anime always uses the it to its strengths for wacky funny reasons. Sound: I can still hear the menu screen bouncing around in my head. Pretty neat, nothing much past that in terms of music design, however the sounds are always spot on. Characters: They are the real Comedy. They always work off of each other and use one another for jokes, this works really well. Overall: Its Delightful plain and simple. Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End of Evangelion

Nov 23, 2012

Masterpiece. Must watch the series first. The end of the show was a bit confusing. The movie is a bit confusing as well and creates new questions but it answers many bigger questions. This makes really wants you to look at yourself and think HARD. Thank Jebus for that! If you've seen the show, it is pretty much a better and more thought out ending. I essentially consider this a part of the show, not a standalone movie thingy. Keep that is mind and enjoy!

Neon Genesis Evangelion

Nov 23, 2012

The real quality that makes this anime an instant favorite of mine is the way in which it asks questions; questions about trust, questions about who we are, questions about what made us the way we are. These questions are not something most shows push for. The anime starts out pretty slow and the English voice acting may be bad but somehow becomes more comfortable in time. The animation is a little dated but still surprisingly good in some parts (especially later on). The music is soft, lots of piano and violins. Later in the series classical music is incorporated and it is a gloriously majestic... See full review

Nabari no Ou

Story=ninja's except it's not terrible and chilidish and isn't afraid to have people die. Enough said. I really liked the style of animation this show incorperates. If you pay attention to the backgrounds you'll understand what I mean, some look like still frames of painting, very pretty. Besides that The animtion looks really good and so does the combat, no crappy suspended pictures, the fights actually look like fights and not still shots of special moves. I really really like the intro and outro. The music for the credits was mighty. I watched this in english (on netflix) therefore my... See full review

Mushishi

Jun 3, 2013

Good old fashioned story telling. Mushishi is something not everybody will like, it is slow, doesn’t have a lot of action, and no panty shots; it is different from a lot of anime out there. That being said, Mushishi spends its time in the moment, building a story, ending a story, and doing it all over again. This show can be watched out of order if necessary. Each episode is something special to be enjoyed. The characters are not the flamboyant characters you usually see in anime however; there are some really unique characters here, primarily Ginko, the stories protagonist. Our hero sticks to his... I didn't hate it. Lets start there. Story is okay, (minor spoilers) you've got a pcincess who accidentally switches bodies with a bad ass mercinary, that's the majority of it.  The animation looks good actually but action isn't very long, they spend most of the battles with still frame shots that show someone doing some sort of attack.  I watched this in english and the voices weren't terrible. In fact I really liked Dominikov. Most of the music was guitar riff's and the like. They all fit the setting pretty well. Characters... See full review

This is a sequel to "To Love Ru" which is about a boy that ends up having a pink haired hotty from another planet live with him. This sequel continues with his life and all the chicks around him. They're gonna get naked... a lot. This season in pretty "Shameless" and will show you boobs all the time. It really isn't necessary to see nearly every females chest parts.

Howl's Moving Castle

Aug 23, 2012

The story develops and changes as the movie goes on. I won't spoil anything but the stroy progresses along with the characters through a sense of harmonization that binds the two aspects together. It looks a tiny bit old but with the style of the castle and the environments around them you can't complain. The theme is so unforgettable and moving. It feels as though it comes from the characters themselves and matches with them exactly as a song should. The characters grow quickly and always have more to them than meets the eye.
