Elfen Lied

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Black Lagoon

Black lagoon and Elfen Lied are both meant for mature audience, although story telling and direction for black lagoon feels more polished and it also scores for having very good humorous quips, although as compared to Elfen Lied it may seem a bit pretentious. Elfen Lied, after the bloodfest, feels a lot more cheesy. But by the end, it becomes quite serious. In Essence, if you liked Black Lagoon, watch more than a few episodes of Elfen Lied to get the hang of it.

I agree with another reviewer that black lagoon feels very gritty yet upbeat and at times quite funny.Phantom ~Requiem for the Phantom~ feels far more darker. Although both feature great story telling and direction, the color pallet used for Phantom gives it a dark and foreboding atmosphere.  The two series have a lot in common, but they handle the interpretation of the protagonist in different ways. Where Black Lagoon prefers to give a verbose explanation for the motivation of characters, Phantom prefers silence and mostly prefers the viewer to make his own conclusion as protagonists almost never show emotions normally seen in anime.  The both feature similar action sequences and me both have great character interaction.
