Hi there! I'm a not-so-normal girl living in Seattle, WA. I work for a software company as a writer of developer documentation, but my background is computer science and programming. In my spare time I enjoy video games, especially console RPGs such as my obsession, Dragon Quest (or old school PC ones such as Ultima aka best games ever, or Sierra adventure classics), anime (duh!), sci fi, movies, my cats, and various other geekery.

I'm Anime-Planet's creator and admin, having built the site in 2001 in a quest to learn MySQL, before becoming the behemoth it is today. Anime-Planet was and is still run by a small handful of volunteers, even though we reach millions of users a month, so a great deal of my time is still spent creating features, running the project, training moderators, etc. If you're interested in helping support the site, check out this link :)

Contacting me:

As much as I'd like to be able to reply to each person who contacts me, I spend the vast majority of all free time working on the site and getting features out the door, so I rarely ever have time to read or reply to comments I get here. Most of the questions I get here are site-related questions that we have teams of moderators or forum sections to help with, and if there were less of those here in the profile, I'd have more time to reply to other comments.

Please make sure you read these notes and link suggestions for the most common site questions I get here. Another way to get in touch is in chat in the evenings, but I'd point you to the same links below if it's site questions. ;)

Thanks for stopping by! And now, enjoy some creepy amazing gifs.

(message 2) I forgot to ask again... Who's in your banner? Is it Donald Trump? Hahaha. It's hilarious!

TreeOfWolf Dec 16, 2016

Hello! Thank you so much for being nice to me, I'm sorry I bit you. *wolf nuzzles your hand lovingly* Hmm~ooo~<3

I turned off my NoScript and ABP completely and the images still woudn't display for the buttons and the 3 logos at the bottom (twiter, F, chat)... Then I noticed that I forgot to turn off my Stylish "force sans serif font" after viewing some site... and the images appeared!!! I don't understand how the font can possibly affect image and codes... Unles it adds font balises everywhere... instead to just change the CSS... All is well here. ^_^ About the page showing coding text, maybe it's because I completely lost my internet right after saying that, so maybe I lost the connection for a few seconds while loading the page, before it went away completely.

Thank you. I don't know enough about coding to help. I'm sorry I was sick and seriously confused when I wrote my last post. What I meant is that it's okay to use a more doable solutions that will be easier for you if it means that it will be more bothersome for us, because we should all help you as part of this family, and nothing can be worse than not allowing registration for a long time. So if you want to restart the forum from zero, the mods and users can help by making their threads again. If you have two forums for a while, it will be easy for everyone to copy and paste a few threads. So you don't have to do it all. ^_^ If you can't find the best solution for merging... we can start anew instead.

I don't have facebook... If I want to write news about me, do I do it in my own comments, or is there a beter place? I didn't put in in my bio, because I want posts that pile up like the comments. It's confusing to have only one side of replies in the comments. I'd like the replies to be there to be able to follow the conversations (I even get confused with my own) Maybe hide the reply by default, with a line saying how many replies was made to that post, and clicking it would make the replies appear? I forgot how facebook works, but kinda like that? And when we click the reply button, it'd be nice to stay on our own wall, and have it posted on both walls...? It's fine as it is, and you're working hard on more important stuff, but it does confuse me. Is it what the feed is for? Wow, then it IS more important than the forum to be able to talk with our closest friends. Thanks! :D

Trying to be modern means that you give up your own uniqueness to follow trends... Fashion is changed constantly because it's ugly. It can cause distress to change things, because it's no longer familiar, it no longer feels like the home we grew fond of... and if the design is changed everytime people finally grow to love it... then people don't really get a chance to... I wondered why people hate change... and my vitamin B deficiency caused nerve damage... I didn' have enough to build new nerves, new connections in the brain... so I wasn't able to learn anything new at some point... Ripping our old connections in the brain and plugging it differently actually hurts... I've seen forums that allows CSS changes. If you only change the color without editing the frame, it would be easy to offer, and would be easier on users. You'd be able to experiment with crazy stuff as an option, without losing your identity.

Well, we could see that there was no update about the forum registrations... I think what people needed was to read stuff like "we're currently considering the possibility of merging the forums this way (example)" and later "We need another soution because of this problem"... maybe members have coding experience and could suggest stuff. Anything showig that we're in your thoughts <3

I'd like to help make banners for the animes that don't have any. The now massive link bar makes sense when there's one. How are they made? Is it specific images from a DVD cover or something? I'm not very good, but it can be better than nothing. Would it be possible? Can you add a generic AP banner when there's none? I miss the winged girl.

Have a nice day~!

i read TreeOfWolf's suggestion to you, and your reply to him, and it got me thinking, i don't really know anything about programming, so im not sure if its possible or easy, but instead of merging the forum and site accounts automatically why not do it manually? if you let the user himself enter his site account name and password, and the one who wants to sign up needs to fell in his account user name and password from the site as well.

i know already have your hands full with other more important things, so i'm not rushing you, i thought i might give a suggestion, or help in some way, this site is my favourite anime site, and the most used by me, i'm very grateful for you for creating this site <3

(message 2) I read the thread about the new banner link further down, and this looks good actually:

http://www.anime-planet.com/anime/the-garden-of-words

I don't know if I'm blocking something I shouldn't, but I'm often unable to see any banner at all (oh, the screen capture shows none too). Could you make a banner for AP that displays when there's none for the anime? You could make more than one on random, change it with events, have contests to make members to them for you... Or have someone make banners for the anime (that sounds fun actually). It looks empty with anything, making the bar looks like a massive invader. Or you could have an option in the user's settings that make the text black and the links a darker blue... There are probably some for the firefox's stylish add-on... I don't like the trend to write pale grey on white, so I already have a style for it... But your site never gave me problems reading.

It 's probably only my outdated browser... But today I have this code display above the user stats:

!doctype html> html> head> meta charset "UTF-8"> script>var google_casm ["",0,null,0]; /script> style>a.rh-ms-mute-undo {color:#0000ff;}body,table,div,ul,li{margin:0;padding:0}body{font-family:"Times New Roman","Times New Roman",serif;}#adunit {background-color: #ffffff;height: 250px;width: 300px;}#ads {height: 250px;left: 0px;position: absolute;top: 0px;width: 300px;}#ads ul{list-style: none;}#ads ul li {clear: both;float: left;line-height: 0;overflow: hidden;position: relative; }#ads table {border-collapse:

It goes away when I refresh... It's probably just me blocking something... along with the image buttons... but just in case it's an edit that went wrong, I thought to let you know~ Probably no need to check unless many others report... I'm having problems with other stuff. Oh~ Allowing twitter seem to have made the update news appear on your profile... I'm sorry for jumping to conclusions when I wasn't able to see that. I allowed everything and still can't display the bold and itallic button images... That's probably my old browser, but did you change something?

Sorry for being so confused. I really appreciate your hard work. *bows*

Hello! Thank you for your reply~ Thank you for the welcome~ Yes, I love it, I'm sorry for biting you, it was from hurt of feeling left out of the forum and I thought you didn't care, but I know that you work hard, the site is awesome.

Can you give the option to put the previous design back? Reading white on grey is actually harder for me to see... and having this big rectangular mass destroys the gentle floating cloud effect that I so loved about AP. It doesn't really fit with the rest of the site and I hope that you won't change everything into strong dark boxes... If some people have trouble seeing the text, maybe increase the contrast with a darker blue... But grey... is depressing me... it looks heavy. It was better when the menu wasn't distinct but gently floating with everything else in harmony... Your site was perfect, and I'm super fond of it... So any changes will look worse to me...

Thank you to care about new members... Why not giving up the merge? Or allow registrations util you find how to merge? Isn't there a way to make it look merge in a way to let users register before it's completely fuzed? If you leave a note to register with the same name and password, I don't see why you have to turn it off...

If users don't have like stats and such popularity stuff... Why not trash the whole thing and make everyone get registered automatically? I agree that cleaning up names that don't match seems too tedious. We could all help you by recreating the account properly in the new AP forum. It'd be annoying to users... but a much lesser evil than not let user join the fun for months... and making it a million times harder for you.

So... you're saying that my idea is probably doable but that no one has that much database coding skill at the moment... Thank you, I understand. You look like a massive site actually... But now that you mention it, maybe the reason why I dislike MAL is a corporate feeling... AP feels more warm, like a close family... So if it's your own baby with volunteers, that'd explain the warmer vibe. Trashing everything and making people reupload their avatar and sigs sounds like the best idea with limited options... The option to delet all entry is probably easy... but I'd sure do a whole backup first.

By the way, I don't know if I messed with my javascript permissions, but the images tools are no longer displaying above the text box... I get squares with4 letter codes in them... Did you change something temporarily or I need to debug yet another thing on my computer?

Thank you so much for being on it. Without announcements, we didn't know that we weren't abandonned. I guess that deleting all users would be a problem for the posts... Those can't be deleted... I'd probably rename everyone with zzzzzz in front of their names... to make sure that the names become free to use for new users while still displaying old stuff... But then they wouldn't be able to edit the first posts of clubs and stuff like that... Oh god... Do you really have to merge? If we have two forums for a while and slowly let everyone migrate their clubs and redo everythig... That would work. Can you copy the forum's blank frame and just abandon all the posts and users? Sometimes the most complicated solution is actually the simplest... and the easiest looking option that seems to be the nicest is too hard to be feasible... Let everyone migrate their stuff while you only merge the skeletton. You can always keep the old forum in archives.

What is an activity feed? Ah, it's been off even longer, I see why you are working on it first. I thought it was a completely new feature to look cooler... Sorry about that. People ask for the feed more than the forum... Well, if hey can't post they can't really ask. Social media channel? What else is related to AP? I don't use acebook and twitter.

Yes, thank you very much. The hardest part wasn't the patience, it was feeling like I wasn't wanted and cared about. So thank you. Maybe you should make an announcement so others can understand too. Maybe put a link to it where it says that forum registration are closed.

It seems like you are trying to do the best thing to avoid inconveniencing anyone, and in the process, it causes delays... So I'd say go ahead and do the simplest for you. Let everyone help you by transferring their own stuff. Is it possible to have 2 forums until everyone migrated? You could allow registrations in the new one only, and give a month for the users to transfer all the posts they made and use regularly into the new forum. If you explain how hard it is for you to transfer everyone's stuff on your own, the good people will understand.

Ganbate~ And thank you so much for taking the time to welome me. <3
