Hand Shakers

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Karas

These have fairly different backgrounds, but Karas is another style-over-substance, action-packed series with bad CG (not nearly as bad as Hand Shakers). If you liked the action elements then Karas will work for you, and it's better anyways.

Hand Shakers

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Pandora Hearts

I've admittedly not fully finished either of these, but both have convoluted, fantastical stories filled with chains and action, and for whatever reason I think they have a similar feel. Luckily Pandora Hearts has much better animation.

The Bug Boy

Both manga feature a freakish character that's shunned and cast out by their family. They're forced to live in isolation, become more alienated with mankind, and begin to ponder revenge. Both are also quite sad and depressing.

wrote a review of Black Cat (Hideshi HINO)
Score 5.5/10

This volume of the Hino Horror series is one of my favorites, because it's devoid of Hideshi Hino's usual fare: there's no torture, animal violence, pus or other forms of bodily fluids, and no body horror. If that's what you're looking for with this volume, you'll be disappointed. Otherwise...

Cat Eyed Boy

Both manga feature a cat (or cat-like being) travelling from place to place, experiencing the darkness of humanity. Cat Eyed Boy is more focused on the supernatural and various creature/elements of folklore, while Black Cat is more about drama, with only the faintest hint of the supernatural. The art styles are extremely similar, as well.
