My interest in anime started over 20 years ago when my mother rented the awsome anime Starzinger. From then on I was hooked, though it took ten years before I really started to get in to it.
These days I watch a wide variety of different anime, from gothic horror to mecha and romantic drama.
Since I like lots of anime I could hardly fit all of them in a top 5... so here is another 5. They are not ranked in any particular order, all of them are good in their own way.
#6 Ookiku Furikabutte - I guess one either loves the main character or hates him... and I just adore the little whimp.
#7 Hunter x Hunter - One of the best series ever! I love the main characters, especially how they are more well developed than in most anime of this genre. And the best part of all is the optimism that oozes through the whole series. Go Gon and Killua!
#8 Shura no Toki - This dude can kick ass! Ruronin Kensin... gets whipped!
#9 Naruto - When this series is good it is superb. When it isn't good it is so boring it brings tears to my eyes... from yawning. But I still look forward to the new movie (despite the previous crushing disappointments) so it gets on my list of favourite anime.
#10 Aishiteru ze baby - I admit, this is my guilty pleasure. I just love this slow-paced and sweet anime. It doesn't all have to be about cool action or fantastic magic.

Hey,
I don't tend to go for sports anime, probably the closest I've come is Kyo Karah Maoh, where the baseball part of it it, well tiny! But it's always good to branch out and try new anime, I may well give it a go at some point, it looks quite interesting from the screenshots and sounds kinda cool. Thanks for the rec :)
