I like shows that are full of emotional turmoil. I forgive shows that are crude (some of the parts are terrible while others are amazing) because writers have to take risks to explore new ideas. However, I can only forgive characters making suboptimal choices to some extent. Some shows make people act completely illogical to create an emotional situation. I hate this (*cough* light novels).
I like it when conflicts are abundantly clear. I don't want a bunch of side stories that are completely unrelated to one another.
I don't like shows that are particularly childish. These shows normally restrict emotional turmoil by not developing relationships more and making the antagonist act illogically (prevent the antagonist from being too evil). I find this to be a buzzkill. Please don't be mad if I rated your favorite show too badly.
My ratings normally reflect the comments above. Some of the shows don't have an appropriate rating because my tastes have changed over time. Hence, tread with caution.
