Long time ago I watched X the movie, some time later Akira, then NGE and I finally confirmed the anime world was a wicked place, incrediblely vast with original story telling style; or at that time for me, different from the Hollywood style at least; explicitly brave in gore image drawings and blunt, sometimes gut-wrenching, drama that needed to be handled carefully. So after that glimpse into the anime world I decided to put it aside in my audio/visual interests to be watched later when I could have a more ease of access to it (back in those days it was hard to come by a complete series) and I kind of forgot it existed. Some years later, one night I came across [Adult Swim] while flipping through cable channels and stopped to have my mouth agape in bewilderment watching a robot coming out of a kid's forehead and getting a quick summary flashback of those weird anime shows I had watched somewhere before; days later I was mesmerized by a tune in a Samurai Champloo's episode BGM in that same airtime slot and I guess that did it, a bulb or switch in my head started to flicker and months later I got hold of the complete series, even hunt down SCh's OSTs only to be disappointed they didn't have the track with the tune that got me hooked into watching the show. I got so pissed that I almost forgot about anime again, when Trinity Blood popped up in Walmart one day, watched the whole thing, got hooked into its opening theme and to make the rest of the story short I didn't stop there this time. I ended up browsing the net for similar anime shows where blood, action, gunfight sequences, gore and comedy blended in nicely, thick and juicy so awesomely that could make me sit back and make me think I was watching an animated Tarantino-like show.
Though now, I'm sorry to say, have semi-retired from the anime scene; I only watch 13 eps anime shows rarely, by recommendation and summary.
I doubt tha twas an actual about me summary, so here's an attempt:
I'm an adult who likes to spend his free time with the family, browse for news articles on the net, read a book or two every now and then, road trip anywhere I can, enjoying good music albums, CoD gaming on PS3 and, yes, more or less watch anime; although I must confess I rewatch my fav anime shows nowdays when I feel like watching something colorful. I don't go to the movies that much for some time now so I tend to watch blockbusters at home and.. I live south of the US border. I get to enjoy the best of the two countries.
