Hello all fellow anime lovers,
I'm a physics student at the University of Eindhoven. I like anime, because the story is often so much better than the story of an average movie. Not only is the story often more entertaining with more plot twists, it is often more meaningfull. Even the bloodiest anime convey a message and activates the public to think about important social issues, often trough the use of metaphores.
With more thought about social issues, the world can become a better place. Therefore anime will make the world a better place. The true purpose of anime is to influence us and bend this often twisted world into something whole again. This is the reason why I love anime.
Anime should be deep and full of thought, it should bring attention to the public about grave problems which are crumbling our world at this very moment, such as global warming (Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind, Earth girl Arjuna), discrimination (Code Geass, Elfenlied), the tragedy of war (Code Geass, Grave of the Fireflies, Gundam), the importance of friends (Hitman Reborn), the rise of crime (Death Note), the complexity of the world (Serial Experiments Lain) and the wrath of revenge (Afro Samurai).
Most importantly, anime is not only often very activating, it is also very entertaining (and very funny sometimes :P), which makes it the ideal thing to enjoy when you have some free time.
