BLAME! is an excellent example of manga as art. It is one of a few series (Ghost in the Shell included) with themes of existentialism and the consequences of technological advancement that don't feel too heavy-handed in exposition and story development. The pacing of the story is wonderful, to my mind, feeling very deliberate; the impatient or less genereous would call it slow-paced. There is plenty of action to be had here, but those hungry for non-stop fight scenes should look elsewhere. Blood: The Last Vampire 2002


     I was largely unimpressed with this adaptation. Although I loved the "feel" of it being closer to the original, the liberties that were taken with the story and characters was just too much for me. I suppose this fits into the alternate history, "what if" category. It presents an interesting conclusion, in that it's different, but different isn't always good, and the change doesn't suit Saya at all, in my opinion.      The story was pretty standard fare as far as the series is concerned, nothing special, aside from the major plot...
