I don't mind the story of itazura na Kiss too much, and it is satisfying if you need a little bit of happiness in your anime but the entire series was shallow.
The basis of the main relationship was entirely based on appearence and popularity of the boy, and though the situation is comical, the romance does not seem to blossom from an emotional aspect.
The lead female is near dependant on him, and though never talking to him once is deeply in love with him and everything he does. While there are people who surround her who truely love her, she continues to go after this one man who treats her like a stranger in every situation, ignores her and only appears when she becomes the damsel in distress.
The female lead is quite strong at times, however when it comes to the romance, she is weak and dependant on her man. The shallow romance never truely blossoms, and is fairly abrupt. While the ending was satisfying, the rest of it was not.
At some point in the series (Small spoiler here???) there is a boy who truely is in love with her, and he cares for her and treats her as an equal, and yet she still continues to follow the lead male as if he was a puppy.
I suggest this series to people if they need a smile at the end, or someone who does not like incomplete endings. I do not believe that the romance aspect of this romance anime was satisfying enough to be considered a romance and is just another example of lust versus love.
