I'm a thirty-something child of the seventies; a period probably the best for those "coming up with animé" (then, to which we often lovingly - if falsely - referred as "japanimation"). I remember fondly (even now, re-watching it "remastered") the triumphant opening score of Robotech, the terrible dubbing of - well, almost everything, but more specifically - Speed Racer, the intimated carnage and death of "Tranzor Z" (later, watching proper Mazinger Z, I saw as true what I realized as a child - that dude really WAS also a lady! Stupid puritanical censorship! >_<).
All told, animé and manga had a definite influence on me, growing up, and will likely continue holding me in its sway for quite some time. So long as Japan keeps producing stuff I like, anyway.
