Yuri!!! on Ice is an anime I will never EVER forget. I was sitting in my bed lost in thought for about an hour on how beautiful the ending of this AMAZING anime was. The characters are all lovable in their own unique ways (Yes, even JJ...). Victor x Yuuri have the most beautiful relationship I have ever seen in anime or video games. I am blessed to have an amazing person such as  Kubo-sensei to create this beautiful masterpiece for us. You will not be dissapointed with this anime. WE WERE BORN TO SHIP VICTUURI!!!!!

If you watched the original, this is nothing like it. I dislike the fact that we have new main villain boss.  The time travel was a fun new concept but I think it will be cooler if they did more time periods. The ending was a little rush at the end but it a fun anime all by itself. It may not be popular but the English will make you laugh.

Love Live! School Idol Project

I was curious to see why Love Live! School Idol Project was so popular... but with so many new idol series released every season that I've grown bored of them, could this one overcome that? Story Otonokizaka High school is in danger of closing down due to dropping applications from new pupils, but after seeing a group of School Idols perform for the first time, the energetic Honoka decides that forming her own group to boost the school's popularity could be the only way to save it. She wins her two best friends over with little resistance, but it took well over half the series before the more... See full review

Hello, my name is Crow, and welcome to my review~ Story: 8/10 Since at its core, Yuri!!! on Ice is a sports anime, you'd expect the story to be the usual "gotta beat all these people and win first place, yadda yadda yadda". And that's partially true, but there's so much more to it - there's a lot of focus on the characters' backstories and relationships, especially between Viktor and Yuuri, and it's honestly a delight to watch. Animation: 8/10 The art style is gorgeous, and the animation itself, for the most part, is very fluid. There are a couple of scenes that look a bit stiff (I would... See full review

Ever wonder what Kevin's mom from "Home Alone" might have done in a previous life? Yeah, me neither. But after watching "Maria the Virgin Witch" I'm wondering if she might have lived in medieval France, because the title character very much resembles her. Maria also reminds me of a younger, virginal version of Vash the Stampede personality-wise with her staunch pacifism. I enjoyed her adventures a lot, quite more than I actually expected to. I love pacifist characters because they have so much space for learning and growing. Maria's attempts to help the people of France by... See full review

Damn, talk about an excessive amount of drama. I didn’t even know that much could go wrong in 26 episodes. So first of all, a warning. This is based on a live action drama, which had me seriously confused the first time I tried to look for it. Anyway, Winter Sonata tells the story of two high schoolers who fall in love, and their ridiculously complicated love story. Hindered by pretty much every drama cliché you can think of, they struggle to find a way to be together. I will admit, it was pretty sweet, but there is a limit to how much bullshit can happen without it feeling a little too... See full review

This was a really cute series. Sure, it wasn’t the most original thing, there are certainly plenty of series out there with a similar plot, but that didn’t make it any less enjoyable. The story involves Hanae, who’s just moved into high school becoming able to see youkai when a fluffy white one begins possessing him. The longer it stays with him, the weaker he becomes, until he comes into contact with an exorcist, Haruitsuki. He agrees to exorcise the youkai, but in return, Hanae must work for him to help exorcise youkai. I did warn you that it’s not the original plot. The... See full review

I hate this anime,  it is seriously annoying because of the main lead Makoto. he is all like I like that girl but I don't think she likes me so I will go out with this other girl. then he is like oh fuck that I will just have sex with this bunch of girls. And at the end we find out that the girl who he really likes, likes him back. But then the girl he dated is al like I don't want him to leave me, so I will just tell him I am pregnant with his child. Then Makoto is all like uhh, ok then I will just tell you that I will still go out with you, but behind your back I will go out with the girl... See full review

Story ~ 9/10 A very realistic story about the highs and lows of a career in figure skating. We mainly see Yuuri Katsuki, the main character, greatly improving his skating. I found it to be very moving, especially the ending. I absolutely loved how well the story is wrapped-up. The show also strongly suggests a romantic relationship developing between Yuuri and his idol, Victor. However, to me this is only a beautiful budding. It also seems their relationship will only go further on the basis of how worthy Yuri feels. The story is also coloured with many personalities perfectly blended into a bird's... See full review

Truly a rollercoaster, in every sense of the word. Of emotions, of plot, of story. Of characters growing through a handful of episodes, of Mary Poppins-esque shenanigans, of coolness. Watch this magnificant student segway with a mop bucket, feed injured birds, and create friendships that last forever. The wierdness contrasts with the tear-jerking, the funny moments contrast with the coolness, and the fancy music contrasts with..well, everything while somehow matching PERFECTLY. While the animation is normal bishounen, it too is pretty much perfect for the job of creating the literal perfect bishounen... See full review

Yuri!!! on ICE doesn't suit everyone's tastes, but I can say that it is definitely an anime that saved 2016. (Anyway, since Yuri!!! on ICE contains 14 characters including spaces, let me refer to it as "YOI" from this point on.) Story: YOI really exceeded my expectations. It simply goes this way, you lose hope in life and you are pretty sure that it all ends there; however, what if suddenly, a person appears to bring spark to your life, ignites it, and puts it on fire? This is exactly what happened to Yuri in YOI. YOI successfully balances out the drama and the comedy in the life of all the... See full review

Night on the Galactic Railroad

What I Liked: The characters are simple but charmingly designed. The whole movie is gorgeously atmospheric, with some brilliant set designs that are as dreamy as they are unsettlingly surreal. Animation is excellent for an 80's production, if not slow at times, with nice uses of imagery, light / shadow and colour. The themes of death, faith and one's legacy are handled with a surprising amount of sensitivity.

What I Didn't: Characters suffer from blank face syndrome. The soundtrack not only dates the film dramatically, but ends up being tonally inappropriate some of the time (e.g... See full review

What I Liked: The ballad-like OP and ED. The soundtrack, which is a mix of jazz staples and great ambient pieces. Animation is generally consistent, really shining during the performance portions. Character chemistry is fabulous, with a complex relationship web. Pacing is spot-on for the most part. Episode 7, and the cultural festival medley. The way that romance / "young love" is treated, and the fact the show gives space to the idea of falling out of love with someone (and it being okay).

What I Didn't: Sometimes doesn't feel as grounded in time / the time period as I'd have hoped... See full review

Lets start with saying that it is more a entertaining series than actually a good series.

You follow a thief while he steals juwels to avenge his father, who created the identety of The Phantom Thief and was the best magician in the world but has 'died' (you never know with magicians) 8 years before the series starts. This new Phantom Thief uses magic tricks and illusions to escape from the squad constructed to him.  Most of the episodes start with a bit of recorded advise from his father which he uses later in the episode, then you get a heist or a cute character moment (with Kaito being... Dec 21, 2016

The very first manga I ever read was Barakamon. I found the characters hilarious and adorable. After reading the manga and watching the anime, I noticed that a lot of the stories in the manga are left out in the anime.  With only 12 episodes, this was expected, but I believe that the show deserved more than 12 episodes. Especially since the manga was so popular. The manga is still an ongoing series, so I hope that Barakamon will have a second season. Barakamon has laid down the foundation in anime and manga for me, and I would undoubtedly recommend this series to any new anime watchers.

Although the title suggests this is yet another mahou shoujo girl anime, its special because its rather different.

The series continues where it left at season one.  And like the first season there is not much of a story, the episodes are loosly related to each other.  I dont expected a 3 minute episode to have lots of content anyway.

So whats so different about this one?
The first thing is there are no antagonists. no bad guys etc.  transforming is more for fun than helping others

Many movies have been made about time travel and many with similar themes and stories to this one.  The main thing about it that stands out a bit is that it is based on an accidental discovery which is kind of similar to the classic "Back to the Future" where Marty is thrown into a time travel tale by accident as well.  Makoto gets this new ability and uses it frivolously to correct any flaw she runs across involving her or even often involving others she knows.  It is almost comical how belatedly she discovers the limits of this ability indicated in part by a mysterious mark on her... This is probably one of the best anime series I have ever watched. If you are interested in mystery genres, this is definitely an anime you should check out. A common problem in anime is a rushed plot. Especially when a series only has 12 episodes. Erased does well in pacing the speed of the story but at the same time, makes sure that the plot isn't too slow. Another strong point in this anime is that none of the characters are exceedingly irrelevant. All of the characters in this series have a part that moves the story along. My overall rating for this anime is a 9.5 because it is one of those series that... See full review

This was a fairly decent movie.  The art work, shading, lighting, textures, and depth of field were all exceptional.  The movie itself was a tad slow paced however and the ending left me wanting as in it didn't give me the impression an ending was ever created.  The four main characters were better and more well developed than average though you might find a few things about them lacking, such as Harukawa's interest in piano or her connection to it.  I never really got the sense that was fleshed out.  Seki's goofiness is refreshing but his utter cluelessness to advances and... Probably the biggest surprise for me when watching this was actually getting interested in the anime for the story. I don't care what you think but I like ecchi animes and initially watched this just for the ecchiness. Until the humor got to me and then when things became funny the story became better. I mean sure the story is kind of dumb girls in bikinis trying to push each other off platforms into the water with their boobs and butts; but it's surprisingly good and I couldn't help but watch it to see what would happen next in the story. It's about a clumsy girl who saw a bike that she thought was cute, ends up getting a similar bike and starts riding. Her and her best friend later meet other girl cyclists and form a team to do events. It's cute and funny. The story and art are pretty simple but it boils down to a fun story on how cyclists become friends and how they hang out. You should watch if you like animes about girls developing... Teen girls have finally reached the point of equality that they squeel over two guys kissing in an exact match to the way guys love watching two girls making out... and this is marketted right at that. And yet, the animation is gorgeous, the story is completely standard (except with two guys instead of a guy and a girl) but well executed, and we get a by-the-numbers sports/competition anime. I pulled this anime in the Anime Lottery Fall 2016. I wish I hadn't. There are many reasons why, and I'll go into detail below. Cliffnotes version is that between the strange art direction and the blatant scene stealing from Fate/Stay Night, the anime nosedived during the first episodes and never recovered. The anime was also hampered by poor dialogue and lackluster characters. But let's get into the full review. Story: From the synopsis, you already know a couple things. The first two episodes of Pupa are legit hilarious. The rest is not. Essentially, this is the storytelling equivalent of being bludgeoned over the head with a rusty instrument; the premise is that of a young girl becoming a monster after a woman dressed in black and holding a robotic cat (neither's relevance to the story is ever explained) warns her about some giant red butterflies that are flapping around a bit. Having seen the entire series prior to this, let's do a short review from a few different angles. Keep in mind the movie is a "recap" and doesn't bring anything new to the table. If you have never seen the series: This is a decent option to get an idea of the first season, but you won't capture all the details or relationship building that required the original 4 hours to cover. You can expect the movie to cover the first 3 episodes pretty heavily and it give you some sense of the events that unfold, but it is very front loaded and it covers a tiny bit of the events in the middle, and of... Eve no Jikan Movie

So this is an anime version of "I, Robot" essentially though perhaps with a greater focus on the slice of life angle and lacking the action oriented ending in the original story and movie versions.  The theme of "What if they become self aware?" or "Were more than mere machines" is prevelent in "I, Robot" as it is in this movie.  It is this subtle under the radar theme you see early on which gradually leads to the epic action ending and all the problems and solutions if you will there-in.  The story, like "I, Robot" seems to stem from... Magical Girl Raising Project

SPOILER FREE REVIEW I went into Magical Girl Raising Project expecting another series to try to be an edgy magical girl series because Puella Magi Madoka Magica was followed by plenty of these types of series. Is it edgy? Yes. But it is genuinely fantastic! The strongest part of the series is the story and the characters. Not only is the plot strung together very well, the amount of detail, as well as ambiguity, can easily leave you either caring far more about a character than you expected, or being torn when they do horrible things, but you connect their their backgrounds. These girls are not just your... See full review

Death Parade

Personally, I randomly discovered this anime while scanning for new titles; low and behold this was the one that caught my eye. Just from the title alone, "Death Parade", and it being the new year at the time, gave me curiousity. I am also a huge fan of psychological, mystery, and death.  Okay, so let me just break it down to you: UPON FIRST ENTRY I realzied I wasn't in Kansas anymore when riding an elevator shaft to the unknown. Little do people know this is where they come to die. As an experiement placed by arbiters and Gods who judge those based on a game to play in hopes of escaping... See full review

Bonobono (2016)

This show is pretty bad. I can't even figure out who the intended audience is. Story This show is a short form anime about a blue otter named Bonobono and his friends (a squirrel and raccoon). The episodes are about Bonobono's boring every day activities. From playing, to exploring, or just learning something new from the other animals. Except, that makes the show sound more interesting than it actually is. I've read that this is based on a 'gag' manga, but there isn't a single funny thing that happens in this show. The animals slowly walk around stumble through conversations at a snail's pace. Usually... See full review

Beyblade: Burst

Oh boy. After many years of not caring about the Beyblade franchise, I decided to try the newest one. I watched the original when I was young, and recently rewatched it again. There was a pretty big difference in what I remembered about the quality, haha. In this short review I might refer to the original series as that's what many people can related to. Story At the moment, I've only seen the first twenty episodes. So far, the story is a bit more simple than the original plot line (whic involved the mythical monsters trapped in the beyblades and some high stakes games later in the series). The... Aggressive Retsuko

Aggressive Retsuko is a very interesting and fun show. It's pretty simple, so there isn't much to say, but I'll try to write a somewhat helpful summary. No spoilers. Story This show is a comedic short form anime that is only one minute in length. It is about Retsuko, a red panda who works in accounting, and her frustrations with her job and co-workers. Other than the fact each character is an animal, the setting and scenarios are pretty realistic and relatable. Retsuko works very hard for her taxing job, but things don't always go her way. When she gets angry, she turns from a cute... See full review
