One-Punch Man

Utomneian's avatar By on Jul 4, 2016

i will keep this brief. it's a really great series that pokes fun at those fighter animes, mainly the ones with really powerful characters. the main character tends to literally defeat enemies in one punch, thus he is kinda bored of being a hero because he wants a challenge. as a fighting anime, you may not find it to be the best compared to certain other shows, but as a parody series, you will be quite amused at the irony presented in this premise and characters. even if you expect every enemy to be beaten easily, it's just the manner of comedy, and the extreme situations, that make it fun. so i would... I see that some of the other reviewers didn't understand the concept behind the clever title and the historical subtext. In the dark ages it was not only books on science that were burned but also an books that brought pleasure of any kind. Making any books with comedic content rare and illegal. Laughter was considered a sin by the puritans but the mass slaughter of people with different religious beliefs in the name of god wasn't. True demons lay within mankind's hearts.

I highly recommend this short yet very enjoyable anime! And here it is: -------

Ninja Scroll

STORY: Ninja Scrolls is the Story of a pair of Ninjas, Jubei and Kegora, "Persuaded" by the old ninja Dakuan, who fight the Devils of Kimon (A group of superpowered evil ninja) led by Genma, an immortal who hopes to use his abilities to become the new Shogun of the Dark. There's a bunch of political conspiring and a gold mine mixed in as well, but that basically what it's about.

I did enjoy the story for Ninja Scroll, it was action packed and had a pretty good plot, however it definitely had some faults. It could have used a few less enemies, as the pacing was a little off. The... See full review

In my opinion, this is to Attack on Titan what Yu Yu Hakasho is to the Dragon Ball series, a sad rip off.  I understand that it's from the same people who did AOT, and that the Anime industry tends to like to beat successfull idea's to death, but this is the 5th title from these people if i remember correctly, and its the third that follows the same premise as Attack on Titan. Before i get into it, I will say, if you're looking for an anime that is exactly like AOT, then this is the one for you. If you're a fan of AOT and Tokyo Ghoul, you might be able to appreciate this. For a video review, check out my Youtube channel. Link on my profile page. Positive *Let’s start with the overall set-up of Mayoiga because that was something that I found to be really interesting. The concept of people having psychological scares and them trying to get over them is always successful in gathering my interest. As I said multiple times before on other reviews: I love psychological anime’s and Mayoiga used that to its fullest advantage. It’s also something that we can extrapolate to real life, everyone has their scars. Everyone has their things that happened in the past... See full review

For a video review, check out my Youtube channel. Link on my profile page. This is a review for all 24 episodes. Positive *To start off my positive section I again have to praise A-1 Pictures for the animation in Asterisk. The animation was on one side again very sharp and detailed which was definitely noticeable in the many battles that we get to see when the Phoenix Festa starts. And the sharpness of the animation was very well combines with the bright coloring. I found the color palette that Asterisk used very enjoyable to look at. The bright and vibrant colors reflected the flow of Asterisk... See full review

Full review here (with spoilers, fair warning): Short version (spoiler free-ish): I really like this show, but that like unfortunately comes with a fat, pulsating asterisk. Despite being rather one dimensional the cast is a lot of fun, with Luluco herself being pretty interesting as a main character. And since I committed to not spoiling the written summary heres the vague complaint. Have fun: The halfway point marks a pretty strong shift in the focus of the show. On one hand it's fun at times, but part of me feels the show never really recovers from it since it chooses to wallow in the spoiler rather... See full review

Will be updated and detailed in future. [Story part : 4/10] -Pacing seems to be mastered. (1/2) -An original and promising plot, especially for a Shojo. (1.5/2) -No complexity. No depth. Right now. And I smell, that will remain like that until the end. Regrets, love, nostalgia... That's thin, but rather enough for a Shojo, it won't be a severe penalty (1/2) -Plausible? nope. And it can't be helped with the current lack of logic of protagonist. (0/2) -No conclusion yet. (~/1) -Good premise. (0.5/1)

I honestly despise when people review shows like this as though they were expecting Oscar material. This show is pure escapism in the action/harem genre, and when watched and reviewed this should be obvious. Though this show does little to innovate, it still portrays common genre tropes without them feeling too worn out. It has much, much less fan service than shows like high school dxd, sekirei and less even than infinite stratos, but still has enough to keep those who look for such things satisfied. The story is nothing new but is enjoyable to see develop, despite the fairly predictable plot. Character... See full review

TL;DR - (fully watched) Hm. After finishing and mulling it over, I'm beginning to really appreciate the series. I think the previous comments below still apply, but I think the writers of this anime were aiming to fuck with you. Just like the characters in the show, the show itself was a series of back-and-forth, back-and-forth action to slice-of-life. At first I was frustrated, but now I realize that there was some level of genius involved in how well they managed to do this.  TL;DR - (6 eps. in) I'm beginning to understand why the average score is low 3 stars. The issue for me is the almost bipolar... See full review

It's hard to know what to expect after just one episode. Of the first episodes I've watched for this season so far, this one stood out most to me. It seems pretty simple. Several friends make friends with the transfer student and the main character gets a letter from her future self detailing what will happen and what she should do differently to avoid having a lot of regrets in ten years. The story seems rather predictable, but only if it actually turns out how I think it will. I think that makes me more interested and eager to see the rest because I want to know if that is what will really... See full review

Ecchi, Crossdressing, Explicit Sex and Panty Shots... yep. If the tags didn't tell you already, there's little in this anime that does not involve some sort of perverted siutation. Be it groping in the bath, spanking or panty shots. If that's not your thing turn away and run. Story As with most ecchi series that end up as "Borderline Hentai" the plot in this anime is essentially just an excuse to get the characters into various states of undress and do various perverted things to keep the viewer entertained. Which, admittedly... does work for some series.  The story starts off with... See full review

***This is a review for the first season of Attack on Titan. I will update after the much anticipated second season...whenever that is***

I don't usually like Anime that is centred around pre-teens or teenagers, and am especially tired of Anime or any form of entertainment for that matter, this is focused around some sort of learning establishment (school, training acedmy) therefore, it took about a year and a half before I finally got around to watching this, and even then it was only because my girlfriend of the day really wanted me to watch it. The first five seconds of this anime told me I should give up on watching this and walk away, since seeing it already had a rating below two stars didn't scream run away loud enough. What can I say? I'm stubborn. Big boobs, what looks and sounds like middle or high schoolers having sex in what looks like a love hotel and a close up of the guys hands groping the girls butt is a great way to start an anime! (That was sarcasm by the way. MAJOR SARCASM). Are they trying to make sure I don't even watch the whole first episode? Well, I guess on the upside they weren't having sex and it wasn't a love hotel. This anime is probably going to be forgotten. There are anime that are good but won't last , if the concept of an anime is too similar to another then it will surely fade. This anime is just that. It's good but you wouldn't really shout it for "Best anime ever" Story: Ah , this story reminds me of the move 17 Again and it's concept isn't half bad. A goverment experiment to put people back in highschool to recuperate them. What was a turnoff for me here was that I didn't really understand Arata's problem. Why did he need ReLife?      Every once in a while, there appears a title that doesn't strive to take the top positions in the anime ladders. A title that just simply serves the purpose of providing the viewer with a good time. A show that enables the spectator to temporarily escape from the struggles of everyday life, delve into the story and share a few enjoyable moments with its characters. Even though we tend to forget the contents of the show fairly quickly, the pleasant feeling of actually experiencing, what the title has to offer, lingers for a pretty long time. Personally, I'm not the greatest fan of the original series (roughly speaking, because of its old-fashioned style) but I really liked the remake which has become one of my favourite anime. The story of the new Berserk begins in the aftertime of the events which happened in the previous season. Namely, during the... See full review

(Tuan Kirie) How can one feel alive without knowing the pain of living? Does disease and suffering create our consciousness and our sense of humanity? Harmony creates a world in which human ingenuity has eradicated illness through the use of medicules, a clever injection of molecules that police our bodies and report our health to world authorities. With tailored diets, expert fitness routines, and regular psychological assessments, all of humankind have traded an individual-driven existence in order to live healthy, well-balanced lives. Declining population rates in the aftermath of... See full review

Berserk (2016)

EDITED FOR EPISODE TWO: The second episode brought to light a problem I'm not sure anyone is discussing since the animation seems to be the major setback for most viewers. While I will continue to defend that the animation isn't that terrible, I've had to drop Berserk after this second episode because of its' God-awful pace. Maybe it's just me but I feel like this second episode moved way too fast, cramming way too much into one twenty-two minute package. Because of that the dialogue is so quick with no pauses and awkward transitions that would work better in speech bubbles than as actual conversation... See full review

Berserk (2016)

Updated for episodes three and four: Yes, my people, it's happening. The White Hawk will return! Episode three was the iffyest (iffyest is a word today) episode yet. Between the worst cgi yet, topless Farnese, and no real point, I felt disappointed by episode three. Also, episode three was the first episode of the season to omit "Blood and Guts" from the soundtrack. Insert sad face. But the ending of episode three made it all better, as we finally see what's happening in the kingdom and everyone anxiously awaits the White Hawk's return. Sidenote, Serpico is badass. In episode four, we... See full review

Gun x Sword

STORY: So I read a couple of reviews for the story of Gun X Sword before watching and everyone seemed to think that this anime wanted to be either Cowboy Bebop, or Trigun. After watching it myself, I think it's more accurately described as an animated re-imagining of the 1976 Clint Eastwood movie, " The Outlaw Josey Wales" (which in turn is a film adaptation of a 1973 novel), mixed with Gundam Wing, that takes place in a world similar to that of Trigun. Josey Wales is one of my All Time favorite movies, so needless to say I was a fan of GXS.

The main protagonist Van, is on a mission... See full review

Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto

Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto has come to an end and here are my personal opinion Story: Sakamoto desu ga is a decent comedy, all about flawless-kun: Sakamoto. Watching this'll make you feel like "wtf did i just watch" or "how tf can he do it?", but sometimes "all aboard to the feel train". But like any other comedy, it's for funny purpose, so the story has no connection. Animation: It's a comedy so the animation will be kinda bad. No, it's not. I assure. Sound: One of...
