A game of survival on an island and incorporating different styles of bombs along with the concept of trustability outlines what to expect here. There are a few ideas here that match ideas from other anime such as the reason as to why the people end up on the island, or the actual game itself has been seen in other shows. If the tags sound appealing then watch it for sure. Being a gamer, I found the theme rather relatable and many of the concepts throughout as well. A good portion of the anime is rather dark and violent. There is no disappointment on the amount of action either. The ending is... See full review
This is a short movie that is about 40min long and I would highly recommend watching. It's a story about a girl Hotaru who was saved by a spirit named Gin after getting lost in the forest. Every summer she returns to the forest to visit him and their relationship between them grows. The story is well written and visually captivating thoughout the entire movie. I enjoyed the movie's ending as it was really well done and maybe the fact that the film is short is why I liked it so much, but I still wish there was an alternate ending extending it longer.See full review
If there is one anime franchise that has been the recepient of more insults by me than any other, it's Fate/Kaleid. The early seasons were muddled, weird shows that combined the action of Fate with the yuri and loli exploitation of Kodomo no Jikan. As the series has progressed, though, it's gotten better and defined itself much more, introducing neat story elements while maintaining the sexual humor that has come to be the Kaleid trademark. Everyone knows this show from one GIF of Kuro kissing Illya and anytime you mention the show to anyone, that's what pops in their head. Telling them that there is a plot... See full review

This movie leaves you with that awesome fuzzy feeling inside. Like you just poored yourself a cup of hot coco on a winter day.
There are some inconsistencies, i agree on that, and i certainly dont consider it as the best anime ever.
The story is quite confusing at times and yes not very "new" to that genre (genderbending and time travel)
ANYHOW it is beautifully entertaining as the animation at times is mindblowing.
For me, i was not focused on the story but really more on the poetic atmosphere and the romantism surrounding... See full review
When I called Arkada a nostalgiafag for anticipating the new Berserk, many said I was being a hypocrite since I am also a nostalgiafag. Which I am not, I love the retro aesthetics, but I hardly love most of what I grew up with. I said right away before it’s even out that the new Berserk is going to be shitty CGI that adapts events that are not as good. And that’s exactly what it was.
The 90s Berserk is the best dark fantasy anime of all times. The 2016 version on the other hand is yet another dark and edgy mediocrity with cancer CGI, awful directing, and terrible sound composition. You... See full review
I've recently watched both season of freezing. I'm Also doing a review on the second season as-well. Story: The story is basically about a young boy named kazuya (Who wanted to join the school because he wanted to do good like his older sister did before him) And A young woman called satellizer (Who was abused as young girl and couldn't stand other people touching her -because of the abuse she went through as a child-Therefore she ended up always being alone and having no one.. well still kazuya tackles her for the back (Because of reason i do not wish to spoil it) and... Overview: All in all, Tenshi NAnka ja Nai was a mediocre shoujo but did have it's high points, followed by many low points. The show does revolve around a central school setting and is carried between a group of four characters. The anime could be followed easily, and did have a central idea behind it. Story: 6/10 The story was not bad, but had some spots that were totally unecessary and seemed like time slot fillers for the actual show to reach 30 minutes. There was, however, a story that was followed throughout the show and (for the time given in 30 minutes) did an ok job, but leaves the watcher... See full review
Sherlock + Bones + xxxholic = Sakurako’s Investigations. Inelegant, perhaps, but this is probably the most accurate way to review Sakurako. Because, I think, if you are a fan of any combination of those three shows, then you will almost certainly enjoy this one. But, immediately, beware two major downsides to the series: filler and a cliffhanger finale (which was also kinda filler). While no one episode ever feels especially extraneous, the show’s weakness is its…not infrequent inability to tell a particular story within the typical time constraints, with several mysteries... Hey! So, this isn’t much of a review but more like a summary/here’s what to expect kind of thing. First of all, my hype for Final Fantasy XV is suuuuuper high…as it should be. Second, I’m not claiming to be an expert or anything but it looks like there is some confusion around this anime so I thought I’d lend a hand in trying to clear things up. Okay so here we go, as many of you know there is a new Final Fantasy video game coming out in November. If you didn’t know that, get on it yo! This anime is kind of like a fun backstory promo for the game and there is a movie... See full review
I cried for over an hour after watching this anime. It was such a change from the previous 2 seasons because every episode then I laughed and enjoyed every moment with 3-E. I cannot think of this anime or watch a vine of it without tearing up a little. Everyone should at least give it a try.See full review
I came into this anime blinded... I thought that it'd be broing and dramatic. It is definitly not. The first few episodes eases you in having comedy that made me clench my stomach and tearing up because I was laughing so hard. Then it slowly gets more into the story at the right times. ReLife has the perfect amount of everything. I hope that there is a season 2.See full review
What I Liked: Toshihiko Seki is perfect as Count D. The soundtrack, which is equal parts pulpy goodness and soft ambience. The show does a good job of building a dark, unnerving atmosphere through its use of colour and imagery. The design for the Kirin is hands-down beautiful. There's some really nice scenery throughout, with nice attention to detail where it counts. What I Didn't: The soundtrack firmly keeps this show in the 90's, and can feel a bit melodramatic at times. YMMV on the episodic format of the show - it's very much a collection of horror-themed moral tales with a very loose subplot connecting... See full review
What I Liked: Both the OP and ED. The fact this series practically screams "experimental" at times. The final act is quite nicely handled. Has a interesting mix of ideas and themes, using Pinocchio-style motifs to deconstruct Idol culture and hint at the intersection between mythology and science. Pacing is good, if not slow, until the final two episodes. Visuals are solid for the most part, especially when it comes to the robots, the cityscapes and the concert scenes. What I Didn't: The fact this series practically screams "experimental" at times. Viewers may be deterred by the fact... See full review
This anime ruined my life. So far it's really amazing and I can't wait for episode 12. But I think that just like the Remnants of Despair, I have fallen into despair due to my attachment to the characters that die. Episode 11 had me tears for an hour.See full review
This series was amazing! I loved everything! The story was awesome but it was it bit cliché at some parts so 9.5 for the story. The animation was really good, it had alot detail and work put into it, 10 for animation. The sound was pretty well done! I might be one of the only people who actually like both sub and dub. The music was very well~ I love all the themes, 10 for the sound. The characters were good but some of them were just plain boring :\ I did enjoy most of them but very few were just meh.. 9 for characters~ Overall this anime is my favourite anime I've ever seen, I give it... I just binged on it !
And here it is : sometimes i dont really know why i get absorbed by an anime... That's when i know it is good.
Yes there are some flaws, i think the chara design is "boxy", old, unpersonal and just not my style at all... the animation is really not that great too.
BUT ! I who love the beauty of images was just that much into the story to not care (forget?) about the flaws.
It is far from perfect but it spoke to me.

My Love Story? It's pretty much a story of loyalty, confusion and unrequited love. Takeo, a literal giant, 15 years old, falls for everyone... always the popular girl. It's easy to understand why someone would do this, especially someone like Takeo, completely clueless, brash but utterly loyal. He finally falls for someone who respects his passion and loyalty in rinko yamato. The story follows them, and Takeos best friend as they live love and learn how to connect. If you are interested in a romantic story with two people who are afraid of everything, this is great. I feel like there are parts... See full review

This anime has been seriously hyped recently, and with good reason. ReZero is one of the most unexpectedly amazing series that I've ever seen. The story starts with Subaru being transported into a fantasy world from our own world. As he's trying to get used to the world, he discovers he has the ability to 'return by death', essentially meaning if he dies he goes back into the past, to the point where he can fix what happened. At first he thinks it's great - he can save everyone by gaining knowledge about the enemy he's fighting. This seems like a fairly simple plot, and to be fair it is, but how it is told... This only exists to serve as an extended trailer for the game. Luckily, since it's Persona, I'm more than fine with it. That being said the truncated scope limits the score and ultimate enjoyment that you'll get out of this. The episode is a cool introduction to the main cast. It was great seeing their personas in action for the first time (Zorro!). The plot was self-contained. I hope the writing for the game itself is a little tighter. I also hope the cat gets cuter. The visuals are nice and maintain the Persona "feel." Music was good, but being... See full review
What I Liked: The beautiful watercolour backgrounds in the Jukai scenes. Characters feel more detailed than their given stereotypes / roles let on. Action scenes are well-choreographed and suprisingly minimalistic, with great intergration of 3DCG and SFX elements. The Mankai designs are super pretty. For a cliche Beach / Onsen episode, Episode 7 is surprisingly inoffensive and cute. The world-building is really interesting and detailed. What I Didn't: The weird obtrusive fanservice in some of the transformation sequences (Togo's is the worst offender). I was a bit divided on the soundtrack - it's good, but... See full review

Completely Spoiler Free Review: This review and the scores are in comparison to other Shounen titles and kids shows, not common masterpieces. Keep that in mind before you ask yourself why the high scores and recommendation. This anime is not for everyone, I'm sure it's not even for me either. Decided to check it out today ( 9/18/16 ) and Marathoned it. There really wasnt any story to begin with Aoi, whom they say "looks like a female" honestly I've seen some pretty good anime genderswaps and he looks NOTHING like a female ( or maybe that's just me) , Characters were bland and forgettable, the OST wasn't special either. Infact I skipped the OP, like I said again. This anime is not for everyoneSee full review
The most confusing and boring thing I have ever watched. Very dissapointing considering that almost anything from MADHOUSE is great (they have many of my top favorite anime and I prioritize their anime at the top of my lists). It has tons of actions and blood and some good music but that is the only positive comments to make. The major issue is the story. What exactly is happening? It warps around so rapidly that it makes no sense and stuff just seems to happen randomly like it is warping all over the place. It includes something about a lady and a guy who are in love, she revives him and he has to... See full review

I loved this movie! At the beginning. It got so confusing after like 30 min I thought it was going to be funny cute romantic from what I started watching, but it got all serious and talked about different time lines and forgetting and now they're in the same timeline. ....??? The story was ok kind of unoriginal, but the animation and art was SO. BEAUTIFUL. The part where they switched bodies and quickly got used to it was weird. Servant X Service was very entertaining to watch. I laughed a lot every single episode and enjoyed the plot, the characters and the vibe. This is a brief spoiler-free review. Story The tags “comedy”, “slice of life”, and “work life” are right on point. This anime follows a group of individuals who have recently been employed as government workers. Every one of them has a different personality, background and view of life. The story does not have any depth, it is purely to give the audience a good laugh. The anime is not only funny but it is somewhat relatable for... See full review
I am torn between either loving it or hating it. Overall the anime is slightly above average. This is a spoiler-free review. Story The premise is original in the sense that we get to see the story develop from a “realistic” point of view. What I mean by this is that people are bound to make mistakes and we never really see this in a story. We always see the protagonist making the right decisions and then a happy ending…. I believe the fact that the story changes constantly and shows the mistakes of the protagonist is a very good quality in the plot. As much as hate cliffhangers... See full review
Great show. Amazing take on Isekai, gripping, thrilling anime, seriously engaging the viewer. A lot of plot spikes seriosuly messing up the emotional response. Plethora of great side characters, ones with actual character development too. We get a lot of Subaru's mindset, and hes portrayed very deeply. The anime does a great job with showing and not telling, and it does tell, it sweeps people off their feet. The main problem with the show I and many people have, is the lack of screen time Emilia, the supposedly main girl, gets. But it cant be helped because of a) the source material b) limited time on the... See full review

if i'm honest i acknowledge a lot of the faults with SAO including the useless characters and weaker second haf to the first season but i really liked it I do belive that a lot of the nitpicks that have been leveled against have been blown out of proportion (Asuna is nowhere near as bad a female lead as she's been made out to be) the main thing i like was the setting which allowed for some good ideas, the story was personally very gripping and some concepts and the 2 main characters which i really liked (discounting the 3rd which was really akward and should have had a rewrite) the animation and action... Typically I avoid light novel based anime purely because of the character tropes and story ideas that plague the medium have given us a vacuum of middling adaptations with no soul or entertainment value. Re:ZERO's initial plot description gave me pause and I really wasn't considering watching it because I didn't like the video game-like dying and restarting at a checkpoint system that I'm guessing was inspired by All You Need is Kill. As a new reviewer for anime, my points may be a bit bland but they're always what I think throughout the anime.
This anime is about kids/teens who develop these weird powers that are not normal for humans, like for example, the first character we meet, Yuu Otosaka has the power to take over people's bodies for 5 seconds and so as any other person would with this sort of power, he uses it to cheat on tests and exams. Which eventually leads him to being found out by Nao Tomori who transfers him to a school for people with these 'special powers' where they can... See full review
Let me explain why this short OVA is good. It's good precisely because there is not a full season anime that it is accompanying. School romcoms are a dime a dozen. School-age romcoms that deviate from the school setting are less common, but still fairly prevalent. Yonkoma adaptations are uncommon altogether, and Cute Girls Doing Cute Things are sadly the fewest in number from among these groups. Regardless of the specific genres, structures and story threads each of these series follow, they have one major thing in common: predictability. That predictability stems from an inherent lack of uniqueness... See full review
Some Spoilers Ensue: I've finally finished! Wow, what a ride this was! I absolutely loved this show and I'm so excited to start Shippuden! I love Shounen anime and this one was up there with the best of them. It consisted of about 130 or so canon episodes, and 90 or so filler episodes. The canon episodes were amazing and the filler were...well, filler. Going into the show, I found myself not loving the first 20 or so episodes, but once we got to the arc dealing with Haku and Zabuza, I became hooked. What really set the show off thought was when we started the exams. Oh my fuck I was watching like 12 eps a... See full review
I actually liked this anime and was surprised to find such bad reviews. I only realised after watching it that I didn't even know the protagonist's name. The story was enjoyable and easy to follow. What I have to complain about, however, is the lack of explanation. You never figure out what happens to the main character, you never learn anything about her, and you don't even know which guy she ends up with. (I'm not going to count this as a spoiler, since I'm not really spoiling anything by saying that there's nothing.) I wouldn't suggest watching the OVA. I found that it didn't resolve much, and it ruined... See full review

The Wallflower is no doubt a different anime. There are many elements in it that can keep one from continuing the series. Nevertheless when I finally finished watching the 25th episode I was left with a happy feeling. Note : The Tag is wrong. I would not call this a reverse harem. This anime doesn't even fall in the romance category. "Uncoventional Light Hearted comedy" would probably be a more apt genre I would put this anime in. The Bad - Terrible animation. Irony is that Sunako (the heroine) is supposed to be ugly and scary looking yet it is the supposedly "handsome"... See full review
Right, it's confession time for me. If you have been reading my reviews than you may have noticed that I tend to rip the anime a new one. There is a reason for this though and it has to do with the fact that I can't turn my brain off when watching anime. I can't ignore the stupid shown in the anime and this is a problem as most anime are very stupid indeed. In this case I'm not talking about a 90 pound girl catching a multi-ton cruise missile and throwing it back. Yes, it is stupid but it is a stupid that I'll allow. It's anime. Things like this are normal here and I'm pretty much fine with it. It annoys... See full review
What I Liked: The focus on different kinds of Otaku that were prevalent in the 80's and 90's (Military Otaku, SF Otaku etc.). Nice lampshading of "MC looks dramatically up at the sky" cliche. The amazing soundtrack full of bravado. Animation is quite impressive for an early 90's production. The cross-referencing of Kubo / Gainax's story with historical moments (oddly, they're mostly conflicts like the Falklands War or moments of upheaval like the death of Emperor Hirohito). What I Didn't: The jump between the anime and Portrait of an Otaku segments can feel a bit jarring at times, and take some... See full review
This review is spoiler free: How does one define "badly written"? Exactly what can be considered to be "bad writing"? Is it when a story is told in an incomprehensible way that it becomes difficult to follow and understand what's going on? Is it when characters do things that go against their expected motivations and do things that would be considered "out of character"? Or is it when a series throws a completely random and seemingly over the top attempt at a "twist" which just doesn't hit the intended mark? "Bad writing" is an incredibly difficult thing... Spoiler Alert: This was by far one of my favorite anime of all time until towards the end in which the writers killed of a character or two every episode. What really was tough to watch was my beloved Tatsumi and Mein dieing(which didn't happen in the manga) and the bitch Akame surviving. I mean for real your going to name the whole title of a show based of a side character, who doesn't have any real big seens until everyone else is dead in the end. What I Liked: Forte. Normad. Voice acting is great all round and sounds nicely diverse; I especially love Ryoko Shintani as Milfeulle. Great character designs, even if Forte's and Ranpha's are a little… oddly ventilated. The fact that the show restrained itself to its half-length format instead of resorting to multi-episode arcs. The OP and ED are super catchy without being overly cheesy. What I Didn't: The show's not very good at mixing serious moments with silly ones. The long awaited and anticipated berserk is finally back and with new content...is it worth it?
Let me start off by saying in a huge fan of Berserk. I love its lore, the manga, the
golden age arch movies all solid stuff. The first series from 1997 was low budget and far from
perfect but had very good direction with a compelling plot. The action at times was a bit lacking at times. (Definitely not as good as its 2014 remake counterpart) opting for still frame action sequences over actual animation but it all still works.
