Planetarian

I rarely give high scores to animes as most are simply not worth it, but Planetarian is a surprisingly competent anime adaption of the Visual novel.  It actually exceeds the VN in many respects, many the story more coherent and overall solid. Without spoilers (as the ending is much more effective without knowing) it takes place in the future where a dismal existence is the norm. One man finds a hidden oasis of an android girl that wants to teach about the stars. What occurs in the short anime is a surprisingly effective story that really moves the watcher. I don’t want to say much, but you... See full review

Nana

This anime had a good concept to it but the story went in a direction I didn’t particularly like, which is why I dropped it. The story really starts off when Nana Komatsu (“Preppy Nana”) takes a train to Tokyo when she decides to move there and unexpectedly meets a punk musician whose name is also Nana, Nana Osaki (“Goth Nana”) and they really click when they first meet and become unexpected friends. They lose each other at the train station, but when Preppy Nana goes off to look at new apartments she meets up with Goth Nana again and they decide to rent an apartment together... See full review

Warning this review may contain spoilers- Okay so I'll start off with being honest, this was terrible. My only motivation to watch it was the fact that one of my favourite vocaloids was appearing in episode 8 but in a way it surprised me. It lived up to it's purpose, to promote a mobile game and there isn't to complain about there, the things it did wrong was pretty much everything else. Including quite bland characters, basic animation and a story that was far from making sense. STORY So it is clear that this kind of series wasn't supposed to contain any story worth-while for any type of audience, it... See full review

I have to admit, going into this anime, I wasn't expecting much. I like moe blob characters well enough, but moe blobs mixed with sports? It didn't exactly excite me. However, after watching the entire anime, I'd say it's worth at least a casual viewing of the first episode to anyone that likes sports anime. Now, for my rambling review! Story: The story is basically, new girl transfers in and she is overpowered as hell when it comes to table tennis. However, the team as a whole are the underdogs of the region. Which is a typical sports anime set up. The story manages one play-off and training camp in its... See full review

The staory is ok, but its kind of a mix between normal animation and bad 3D, the "camera" angle was strange. The chains of that bad guy were so wierd and it was a little eicchi overload. i had high expectations on it and i was very disapointed. ep.1 was confusing and left many questons open, the caracters had no big background.

I really had it hard enjoying the film, and I wish it could've been better as the only major thing lacking in the story was the story itself. The plot. If there was any. But here's my review. Unbiased and unadulterated. Animehitblog.wordpress.com for more upcoming thoughts My hopes and dreams-dashed. I found it to be a dark theatrical themed animated film with a light fantasy and a touch of harmless yet fearsome ideals. NONE! In which I found. Do to the undertones of the film and also some of the major problems which I thought the film... See full review

The Glass Mask Year 3 Class D

Jan 13, 2017

I'm still trying to wrap my head around what possessed me to watch this when I've seen 0 episodes of the original Glass Mask (or the 2005 remake). But the fact that this is a throwback to an anime that is at least 10 years old, and this is the best they can do? It's sad; it's really, really sad.  Story: The plot is that part of the main cast from Glass Mask are acting like students in order to bring more passion to the world. Aside from a couple nuances like how the characters interact, the plot is pretty simple to follow. You won't need to watch the original or remake series in order to get the... See full review

The first thing you need to know about the anime is the anime is entirely aware it's an ad for a phone game. It is blatant in this regard. If you don't like meta-style humor, don't press the play button. Trust me. If you're ok with self-aware characters, go ahead and read the rest of the review.  Story: The story is basically the main cast of the game trying to advertise their game. That's it, really. There are some subplots like how the characters interact, but the main purpose is to sell the game using meta humor. Whether its passing out tissue packs or referencing other anime, the cast tries... Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

ShadowBlazer3000's avatar
Jan 13, 2017

FIRST IMPRESSION:  KyoAni has dazzled me with riveting character dramas but I've found some of their comedies hit-or-miss.  Last winter gave us Myriad Colors Phantom World (Musaigen no Phantom World) which quickly devolved into cheap erotica with a couple of clever fourth-wall-breaking jokes, and this winter they deliver us Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid a quirky story of a over worked and alcoholic office lady known only as Kobayashi who for some odd reason invited a dragon to come live with her. What will evolve from here is hopefully a quirky fun buddy comedy to fill a seaon with and so far it... See full review

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: On the surface, Urara Meirochou doesn't look to be anything more than another cheap ecchi show in a sea of so many already but contrary to the less than risqué image the show shows to be innocent enough and downright charming.  The show isn't breaking any new ground with anime it is kind of "cute girls who do cute things" so if that isn't your thing this won't be for you but the story is present about girls who come to a town to learn how to be divination artists. Two episodes in the show is showing to be fun and a little heartwarming and endearing with our main... See full review

Jan 13, 2017

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I'll have to let Scum's Wish (Kazu no Honkai) be a good reminder to really examine the premise of a show more closely before watching.  The genres were interesting enough to catch my eye in the first place, romantic drama, psychological and so on sounded like good makings for a more serious romance after watching the more light hearted and bubbly romance shows that I loved such as One Week Friends, Yona of the Dawn and Snow White With the Red Hair so the best I could hope for is something like Destiny of the Shrine Maiden (Kannazuki no Miko) but rather I end with School Days redux... I have to say I only review anime that has either touched me or I've really enjoyed, Free! Has managed to do both, when I first came across this anime I was expecting a somewhat average plot and a huge amount of fan service but it surprised me. Yes there is a level of fan service  (swim club = hello yummy half naked guys) but the storyline aswell as the characters kept me gripped because it made me understand the importance of team members in a club, and the difficulties individual swimmers face. im watching the anime and so far its good the only problem is it so stupid. example: when the two first found the sword and had to fight Kagome should have kept the sword , it makes the most sense she pulled it out so she should have kept it and  fought the wolf monster and be taught afterwards how to use it more. but no she has to be the helpless one for most of the series makes no sense. on top of that if there is a problem they are facing the easiet solution never seems to pass the character mind not even one.

Concept    I've actually played and beaten the games of Devil May Cry 1-4. Based on what I could peice together, this is actually the sequel to Devil May Cry 3 and maybe the prequel to Devil May Cry 4. Out of all the Devil May Cry chapters, the anime really defines Dante's character in his daily life, not just as a devil hunter, but as a person. Yes he may be the world's biggest SLOB, and maybe the biggest ASSHOLE, but he never fails to dissapoint. You also see the kind side of him in a few episodes. Now THAT, is something the full demons lack!

Story Main character Nina accidentally swallows the 'crystal pearl', an item necessary in order for trainee magicians to pass their test. She comes under attack from various wizard candidates as a result, but fortunately, two of them choose to stay by her side and protect her until the test's time limit is up. The majority of the series was slapstick comedy – when Nina wasn't arguing and/or falling in love with her guardians Zero and Ichii, the three of them were 'battling' against whichever incompetent duo appeared to try and kidnap her and the pearl that week. Isekai no Seikishi Monogatari

Jan 13, 2017

Isekai might be a spin off or even a side story to the main Tenchi world arc but it stands above other Tenchi.  Isekai has much better story telling and a stronger grip on the viewer by offering enough teasers to keep you coming back for more without giving too much away or not tempting you with enough information to keep that hunger for more fresh.  It probably has the best spin on the harem-esque theme to date because it is not based around the negative aspects of the harem genre and the main character shows no interest in tormenting the girls interested or in driving that interest away by flat... good god, this anime is retarded. Soooooo dumb.I'll probably finish it anyway, because I have nothing better to do. Story: The story is just fine. Animation: The animation looks really cheap. The fight scenes look soooo awkward because of cut shots. I read the beginning of some reviews before I watched this, but even so, I was surprised at how little character development there was.  Slice-of-life anime doesn't necessarily have to have a "plot", per say...most of that "plot" is in day to day antics that the characters get up to. However,  I was quite surprised that not only was there no plot, but there was little to no character development.  The characters were fairly flat and remained the same throughout the series. That said, it was cute and charming. Plot There really is no plot.  The story revolves... See full review

The story was well displayed dispite the backstory for a lot of supporting items but the main plot came across cleanly. I'll try to do this spoiler-free, however. Maid-sama was a delightful anime to watch. Being a woman of what I have been told is "strong character" I can totally relate to the Misaki and her inner struggles. The animation is clean and fun to watch, and the voice overs well match the expressions in the art. The characters themselves were pretty stereotypical at times but were toned down enough (or amped overboard) to be tolerable and enjoyable. While character development was rather slow or non-existant in places I still stuck through. There were a couple of side-story episodes that were nearly pointless to have in the series as they... If you don't like the premise of Romeo and Juliet then I do not recommend this anime. While I do enjoy Shakespere, Romeo and Juliet is one of my least favorites. Being a star-crossed lover is no excuse for the situation and as I have read, seen so many freaking versions of the R and J plot it is damn near predictable at every turn making the story boring and the characters never grow becuase they are locked into thier "fate". As I said boring. Action sequences in this film are artistic and neat to watch and the art itself is well done. Too bad the story was blah.

I loved Magi and was very excited about the second season, but I will say that I didn't enjoy this one as much for one very important reason: they didn't show enough Alibaba. They took the time to show everything happening on Aladdin's end, all the secrets he uncovers and all the training he does, and that's all fine and dandy.  Story:

Kimi ni Todoke 2nd picks up right after Sawako and Kazehaya spend a nice New Year's Eve together, and Sawako comes to terms with her romantic feelings for Kazehaya. A multitude of emotional rollercoasters is endured as everything but the kitchen sink is thrown between our two main characters attempts to unite in a romantic relationship. If you've experienced a high school romance in real life, there is a decent chance that most of the problems experienced by Sawako and Kazehaya will seem familiar to you. If you haven't, you're in for a stressful ride that may not be terribly enjoyable... See full review

Beyond the Boundary

I was actually surprised to see negative commentary on this anime, and it made me sad to see that so many people didn't like it. For starters, this show isn't really an action show, per se. It's about characters not fights, which was a huge complaint from most negative reviews. The animation was excellent, good music, the characters weren't masterpieces, but they were good. I personally like the characters and the way they fit into the story. The romance aspect was impeccably done, in my opinion, and dialogue is (for the most part) smooth and real. A good watch.

Recorder to Randoseru

Recorder and Ransell, as you probably know by the synopsis, is a show about a guy that looks way older than he is and a girl that looks way younger than she is. Let me start off by saying that this show is adorable (not to mention a lot of fun). Lots of situational comedy and trips to the police station. If you like the first season and are tempted to watch the other seasons there are some things you'll need to know. First off, a different company takes over, so the animation gets really bad in the second season, with minor improvements in the third season. There's not much development, since there's no... To be blunt, I am a major fan of this anime. As this is only the fifth episode my review will be more or less inaccurate, however I will base my judgement off the dedication towards the detail as well as the relativity towards the manga. My review MIGHT CONTAIN SPOILERS so please turn away now if you choose not to be spoiled. FOR NOW YOU ARE SAVED AS THERE IS ONLY 5 EPISODES I AM BASING THIS ON.

UPDATES WILL COME STORY Let's start this off with a short synopsis. This is about the young prodigy "Tenma Gabriel White" a talent filled angel sent to earth in order to understand the humans and... See full review

I have developed an absolute love for his anime. The second season is just as amazing as the first. The main story here is that the class 3-E has to assassinate their teacher before graduation, otherwise the teacher takes the planet down. I love the animation. It has great colours that fit and match the tone and mood. The characters are each amazing. You do nit get to hear each and every back story but, you grow to like them. They grow and develop throughout the series and is an amazing journey to follow i HIGHLY recommend that you watch this. ROmance is low. Action is pretty good. The over... See full review

Durarara!!x2 Shou

Based off memory. Also, spoilers. The first cour of the second season of Durarara!! (which was made 5 years prior to this one) was done well. It's story was like that of the first season but with added characters and suspense. The animation was once again done very well. The voice actors did a good job, and the opening was once again fabulous. The rest of the OST and ending was meh. The characters developed more. The first cour was probably the second most suspenseful in terms of that out of the three.
