Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

on

I came across this anime on reddit from a video posted which actually ended up being in the final episode.  However, it was fascinating enough for me to look it up.  I haven't really watched already completed anime in a while due to my lack of committment as I preferred to just watch shows currently in season. Story Tomoya Aki is a proud otaku of all anime, doujins, and games.  On the first day of school he had a fateful encounter with a mystery girl who inspired him to create his own dating sim game.  As it turns out, the girl he met is his own classmate, Megumi Katou, whose existance... Chiryokumaru

on

Chiryokumaru is a 2016 web short by Studio 4C, and just like most of their shows it's a pretty original work that offers a little more than it first meets the eye.

STORY & CHARACTERS
The whole plot may be summarized in just two sentences: inside a museum, a young warrior fights against shadow beasts using the energy charger on his back. Soon, the energy runs out, but the warrior finds a new source of power to continue fighting. The plot is extremely short and simple, and even feels somewhat torn out of context, as we never learn why those events take place.
However, as I have already said... See full review

Kiss Him, Not Me

on

I love this show so much, but I do have a complaint about it's page on this site. Nishina Shima is listed as a "secondary character" and that makes absolutely no sense if you've seen all the current episodes. Honestly you should be able to figure out that she's one of the main cast just by watching the opening and ending themes. Lumping Nishina in with A-chan is completely ridiculous, considering the vast difference in screen time and involvement in the narrative. A misrepresentation of the cast is something I consider to be important to the community since the information page should be as... See full review

High School DxD

on

This review covers all three seasons. I expected to hate this anime. I wanted to hate this anime. Unfortunately for me, it made it quite difficult to find anything to hate. Harems, nakedness, devils, angels, romance, and comedy all mixed into one anime isn't something I would expect to have a decent plot or character development. I certainly don't expect anything serious from it and I expect the writing to be sub-par. I also expect a marathon of cliches. On the other hand, I needed something dubbed so I could do some other stuff while watching and I had heard good things about this anime.  I swear... See full review

Orange

on

For a video review, check out my Youtube channel. Link on my profile page.   JV's Anime Of The Season: Summer 2016 Positive *So let’s start with the romance. The romance between Naho and Kakeru is of a very mature level in Orange. Yes this comes from a romance manga but don’t expect this anime to be super moe or “we are in love and everything is perfect”. Because of Kakeru’s past and his psychology he has a very hard time to connect with people since he feels that he isn’t worth them. You can see that they love each other but they each have their own reason... See full review

Qualidea Code

on

Unfortunately my video review was removed due to copyright. Positive *What I liked in QC was mostly the animation in the earlier episodes. There A-1 showed how good they are at animating. But unfortunately the further the anime progressed, the more the quality of the animation began to decline. In the latter episodes it was clear that or the budget was getting low or they had to rush the production to have the episodes ready on time. Negative *And unfortunately, just like with my Taboo Tattoo review, I already have to switch to negative because QC was quite the failure. Continuing on the animation: not... See full review

Overall average anime The creator must have blended all successful element for a hit anime. This bare many similarity to recent hit series and fails to stand on it's own spotlight. but it will worth watching as entertainment common traits such as Tsundere, demons, romance, nuditity, slight fanservice all are mixed to sell but not working. It concludeds like most anime without conclusion. Will it have a sequel?, if so will it try to make it's own impact? haunts the fans

We are introduced to the universe of school for knights. The portaganist is the one who is looked down based on rank by both his family and school but his ttalent shows otherwise. The heroine is the princess but she tries to prove that she is better not because of her rank but because of her skill. The plot mostly focus on how they both try to prove themselves to the world. Critics Character: The story is about discrimination by both family and environment but portaganist is shown to be well mannered level headed gentle man which is a bit odd. Yahari fans may find it a bit refreshing after a long waited OVA. Story is most similar to Volume 10.5 certain chapter and follows it's own in the later. After 15 mins we see the surprise unread element in LN. In concise we see the complete outing of characters rather than school environment Character development is most focused in this Ova, especially Iroha and Hachiman.

When I first saw the first episode, I thought it would be a decent action adventure.  Nothing to terribly deep, but something that could keep me entertained.  Was I wrong.  I watched this story to episode 5 in the hopes that something would grab me, but nothing ever did. Parasyte -the maxim-

on

Parasyte is a pretty amazing show.  The characters are one of it's strongest points which it develops quite well similar in the classical way you might see Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde or Peter Parker in Spiderman.  The relationships involving their physical changes and association to extraordinary beings and powers are quite similar.  The most fascinating character though may not actually be Shiniki but Ryoko who starts out as quite intelligent and studious in her quest to comprehend humanity.  She may well have been the most inhuman, unfeeling, logical, and dangerous of all the alien... ... However, I'd waited so long to watch it that I no longer remember how much I gave towards the project. And I have to say, I was fairly impressed with it. While watching it, I never thought to myself "this is what I paid for." until a while after it was over.

The detailed and colorful animation was top notch. I'd give it more points for animation if I could though I view 10s as "perfect", so I guess I really couldn't.

Machine-Doll wa Kizutsukanai Specials

on

Short, individual clips that follow a specific train of thought with a few different characters in each clip. They are a mixture of comedy (Ep 1), ecchi (Ep 2,3,6), and cute (Ep 4). Most have very little value but Ep 5 is just flat out boring.  There is a mini story link going from Ep 4 to Ep 6. Watch what meets your taste (Ep 1 recommended) or else skip it. The ecchi material is pretty lackluster and the dialogue for most of these clips hold little value and entertainment.

Penguindrum

When I initially read the premise for this show, I couldn't imagine how a sentient, lifesaving penguin hat could possibly work as a coherent plot point so I watched it out of sheer curiosity. I have seen Revolutionary Girl Utena (same director) and I remebered it being pretty inexplicable and bizarre so I figured this would be along those lines.  I don't know how I can adequately explain this, but by the end of this show an initially ridiculous premise had become one of the most thought-provoking and emotionally complex anime I have seen. I watch a lot of anime and a lot of shows are entertaining but... See full review

Full Metal Panic!

No spoilers, yea? Ok then. Full Metal Panic!... yes... The story, well, for it's time, was pretty good. In today's standards it might be a "meh", but I enjoyed it. The girl being a target, the guy protecting her, her tsundere type of attitude- it was all fun and good. It's animation wasn't necessarily that good, but it wasn't bad. The action scenes were pretty rough, but other than that, it was ok. Personally, I didn't like the OP or the ending or the rest of the soundtrack to this series. It's an opinion, but that's all I can really say for this. The characters did seem a bit bland at... See full review

Gakuen Handsome

on

Since this anime is so underrated and the only other review has rated it badly too, I figured it's my job to advertise this anime a little: it's really not as bad as it may seem at first glance. In fact, it's pretty glorious. Gakuen Handsome is a short episode comedy series based on a visual novel, which parodies common tropes found in BL manga/anime/VNs etc.  Story and characters It's hard to talk about the story when it's really just a setting for jokes. In any case, a boy transferring to an all-boys school and learning about (gay) love does not sound all that spectacular. But it's a good setting... See full review

Luger Code 1951

on

It is pretty similar to the manga but is a bit more fluid and flows better.  The single episode essentially appears to cut off the very point of the anime/story so if more episodes or a season is ever forthcoming, then there needs to be something tangiable, such as maintaining communication with Rossa, for the story to be plausible for more than one episode.  This episode would have to be edited to provide such a clue that it is not the end.  If it is the end, though the story is a pretty decent one it is just a bit too short.  Even if it were to be a full season, what happens in this... Brynhildr in the Darkness

on

I really enjoyed this and found it hard to put down as it was a good mixture of seriousness and tragedy, combined with fun, comedy filled, and ecchi sided component. Thisisn't tagged as "Comedy" but it has a lot of funny lines and moments to where I think it makes up at a large portion of what we see. Early on it has a mystery element but this vanishes more with each episode. For those more sensitive, expect some sad yet touching moments. The strong story, engaging characters, and paired with some music that stands out from the rest are what really made this anime for me. The... See full review

Okay so a basic synopsis without revealing anything would be that there is a group of girls living in their school together with a dog trying to do more than survive. I can definitely say - it is so much better than it sounds OMG. The story line is really good; the begining is quite sow and has a slow build up but that is actually a really good thing as it builds up tension and a bond with the characters. Ikkitousen: Great Guardians: Battle Tour Club, Sexy Cosplay

on

As the name hints, this aims at showing the girls in various common fantasy outfits such as maids, nurses, etc, in pervy and suggestive situations or poses. There is some nudity but its primary focus is "sexy outfits", as well as lingerie. This was just boring though due to its basic art detail and overused too much in anime. If you want to see some girls show off sexy underwear and typical fantasy outfits, watch it. Otherwise skip as there is very little engaging dialogue.

This features the close completely naked often so it may as well be pure hentai. Otherwise they will be wearing bunny or school sport outfits. There is no purpose here such as comedy and little dialogue, it's all about constantly seeing them naked. The art style is outdated so it is pretty basic detail. Since there is so little to look at, it is repetitive pretty quickly. Watch if you want to see everyone naked a lot, else skip it.

Story The story is about a private investigator who is hired by a woman to find her missing husband who had dissapeared after the death of his daughter.  Said missing husband is also the suspect of two murders.  There are several twists and turns as well as plenty of "feels".  The story is pretty well paced (especially considering that it's only 51 minutes long), and the ending is quite satisfying. A perfect blend of comedy and tragedy, Angel Beats will definitely have you in tears by the final episode. This anime's overused plot made enjoyable once more with a unique setting, along with a beautiful soundtrack and mesmerizing artwork makes Angel Beats a must-see. The only downside to this anime would most likely be the lack of backstory among the, in my opinion, too many characters for too short of an anime. Seriously, you'll have to watch to watch this show multiple times just to remember the more important characters' names.

Story
'Prince of Stride: Alternative' was a very creative anime, and the sport, "Stride", which seemed to be a mix of sprinting, relay and parkour, is very creative and interesting to watch. However, I felt that the plot was rushed and not entirely thought-out. The producers seemed to invest too much time in making (admittedly very awesome) racing scenes, but viewers lost crucial elements of the story. Animation

Based on the show, you can guess exactly what these specials will contain. Watch them if you you want to see perverted comedy (emphasis on the pervy material) that has no shortage of nudity and common female fantasy outfits or the common fantasy situations. The comedy is heighted with our perverted main character showing up to make matters worse for the girls even though he seems to just want to help (as seen in the anime).
