Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta

Kuyosaki's avatar By on Jun 7, 2016

In my review I will be comparing Yozakura Quartet: Hana no Uta and it's predeccesor Yozakura Quartet. At first I thought HnU was a continuation yet it was a reboot... kind of. The first that put me off of HnU was the moeization of characters. I need to say that I was literally scared of watching it because I would lost hope in Japan for making these... monsters. Not seeing the great not so quality rich DRRR-ish style animation was frightening but with different style animation came quality. I must say HnU is very well animated even though it doesn't seem as serious from first look as previous... See full review

While it's not a perfect anime, It's kind of unfair to rate and review an anime for something that it explicitly does not have. In this case, it's a plot. This a short episode anime for crying out loud! You expect a well-written story out of it? Yes. I am calling out the reviews for this anime and as well as other Skit comedy animes. This is a comedy anime. SNL doesn't have a plot, does it? Skit comedy. That's what this anime is. So? How do we review and rate a comedy anime? By weighing out the comedy! Rate and review its skit, its punchlines! Not the Plot! Why? because it doesn't have one. "But, It... See full review

One Piece Movie 6: Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island

Ew, this is terrible. I get the psychological aspect of the movie but comeon, at least make an effort in the animation. This garabage ass CGI of the forest, the giant CGI stem thing. Yuck. Pros: Varied music, good characters, good character interactions. Cons: Horrible CGI, worse overall drawings then the anime. The music is steadly increasing in goodness, and im noticing it not being the standard OST. The characters and thier interactions were very well done especially when the mentality of the characters start to break down. I cannot forgive the animation being overall worse then the... Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei

AmazingLagann's avatar By on Jun 6, 2016

The Tatami Galaxy should have been a movie. That's my criticism in a nutshell. While I was watching Yojouhan Shinwa Taikei, I was struck by the feeling that it didn't quite feel like an anime. I don't mean that because it wasn't filled with accidental groping and meaningless drama born from misunderstandings, or even that its art style wasn't generic sparkly eye bullshit. What I realized in the final episode was that Tatami Galaxy didn't feel like an Anime Show, but rather felt like an Anime Movie in every aspect. The themes, the subject matter, the presentation, the art, the narrative, the execution... See full review

Dance in the Vampire Bund

Dance in the Vampire Bund Review Note: The following Review is based off a recent re-watch of this 2010 series dubbed on a blu-ray released by Funimation. I read the manga about two years ago- so some of the lighter details are a little fuzzy. However, I know for a fact that watching the anime is an experience that is slightly different than watching the series subbed or reading the manga. Differences as they pertain to the story of the anime and the chapters covered by the anime are detailed in the review. For this reason, and so I can reserve the right for more in-depth analysis, I’m posting a... See full review

Death Note

Death Note... I remember the entire story. It's been a while since I have watched it, so I am going off of what I remember, please be are with me here. Story It started of great with a lot of suspense and on-the-edge-of-your-seat action. It's a story of deceit and cunning, a back-and-forth battle of people trying to find the enemies true identity, and has tons of death everywhere you look. A lot of people like the story, at first that is. As the story progresses on, it quickly becomes predictable and thus very boring. There is a lot of planning and thinking in how to evade the enemy or how to capture the... See full review

I have no idea how could this Piece of Art be possibly underrated like this. It undermines my faith in the Anime Community and breakes my heart. Seriously. But, oh-well, whatever. To make it clear. This is a story of two dorks saving a princess. And this story has all charm of "Jay and Silent Bob" comedies, it has almost Quentin Tarantino's dialogues and it has... well, really sh*tty animation, but WHO CARES. The main characters, mostly, just chilling and smoking and talking anyway... while some serious science-fictional sh*t is going around... See full review

Ajin

WolfAngelus's avatar By on Jun 6, 2016

Different and unique than other anime in this category, the music and sound are the main points that stand out. The wierdest content are the bondage/torture scenes, it definitely loves torture in different forms. The concept of a group of almost immortal demi-humans playing a game of cat and mouse with the government where both go on the offensive and defensive is entertaining. The added ability that Ajin's have provides the action component. There are a lot of unanswered points though such as the lady on the taskforce, whatever happened to the accomplice that originally helped Kei out, and the ending... See full review

Anohana is a simple series filled with drama and emotion. It's short with only 11 episodes around the same average length of 22 minutes. The opening song was really good but not as good as the ending song, it was really great and well done i tend listen to it every now and then but anyway let's get into the story a bit It's summer and our main character begins seeing his childhood friends ghost, why does she appear all of the sudden? we don't know and that's what the first half of the series is trying to figure out as well as if the main character is lying about him seeing her or if he's just gone insane... Awww yeah, this was some epic shiit. But seriously, I've been waiting for this for ages and godamm, was it awesome. It was a really well thought out continuation to the series, which made for a really heartfelt story and really brought out creativity. But enough about that, let's get to the battle. An hour long tank battle. A goddamm epic 30 v 30 tank battle. Just like the rest of the series, the animation is absolute perfection, and creativity like you wouldn't believe. The action scenes are awesome, and all the teams get involved. Of course, you do't get into a lot of the characters too much. But... See full review

Kaichou wa Maid-sama!

JJR1971's avatar By on Jun 6, 2016

My feelings about this anime are very mixed.  I really like the main character Misaki, she truly is a strong female lead, and I especially like Monica Rial's performance in the English dub. Misaki is a classic Tsundere and the ending pays off, but JESUS this anime ventures into some dark and creepy and downright rape-y territory to get there, sometimes subtle (School retreat episode) sometimes not so subtle (rival school student council president attempting to force himself on her).  Misaki is a very endearing character, but it's hard to watch episode after episode of men being shitty and creepy... Fuzzeh's avatar By on Jun 5, 2016

I can't find a single thread of plot in the first two episodes. Its just some shallow characters being noisy. Within the first two episodes they are already grinding in the same crap over and over about Aria's S-rank Quadra status. I think this is may be a slow start, it seems it'll take 13+ episodes to bring quality content.

STORY:

The story for DTB has its faults. For one the ending was kind of confusing, it wasn't completely impossible to understand, but it could have been a little clearer. And the use of the detective and cosplay girl for comedic relief was a little off setting, but they do serve their puprose, and were only in the series for a short enough time, that it didn't take too much away from the overall story and tone.

Aside from that however, i feel that it is a very well written story. The general publics views on contracters was reminiscient of X-men. The concept of... See full review

not a bad anime at all, the battles were fun to watch, story really captivated me, and the animation was excellent..only problem I have is that this anime spent time building up on things that were never addressed, or became a non-issue later.  However, almost all characters were designed really well and had an almost magical charm. The dubing was great, the only part I wasn't crazy about was the main character when he screamed.it didn't feel as though he was screaming, note like a disgruntled sigh half the time. First off the game is way better than the anime, but I discover the serie with the anime. As a big fan of the Dead Game anime gender, this one didn't disappointed me. Except for the main character like all anime, you can know who will survive and who will die, that what I like about this kind of anime the trill and mystery of who will stand at the end. Over-all nice story but if you realy like this kind of story you shoul really play the game first.

The show focuses mainly on Machi, a young shrine maiden, and Natsu, a bear. Yes, a bear. Rawr. Kuma Miko was originally created by Masume Yoshimoto and animated by Kinema Citrus and EMT Squared.  While it might not be the anime of the season, it's safe to say that is is underrated and sadly will not be watched by a lot of people. Right, it's confession time for me. If you have been reading my reviews than you may have noticed that I tend to rip the anime a new one. There is a reason for this though and it has to do with the fact that I can't turn my brain off when watching anime. I can't ignore the stupid shown in the anime and this is a problem as most anime are very stupid indeed. In this case I'm not talking about a 90 pound girl catching a multi-ton cruise missile and throwing it back. Yes, it is stupid but it is a stupid that I'll allow. It's anime. Who ever was in charge of this anime wasn't sure if they wanted a horror anime or a hentai, countless and countless of unnecessary boobie and panty shots. Of course the boobs in this anime are highly unrealistic right down to the bounce physics.
if i had to rate this 5 stars outta 5 i would rate it: one star for action, one half for the boobs and another half for panty shots because i'm gay as hell for girls. Absolute duo is just your everyday average ecchi harem full of cliché moments and boring characters. Bits of action were thrown in to spice things up but made much more bland. Not only were the characters bland but they were as cliché as the story. I watched because all of the hype my friends made about it but I was disappointed. 0. I absolutely love this anime. So it will hurt me deeply, to actually break it down into something that isn't just me fangirling about it.  I came across this after finishing up Free! because... sports anime, guilty pleasure, and attractive characters = my kryptonite. Green, to be exact. (Red would be the anime "One Outs" cuz then I become very sadistic) 1. Story-wise, it's your typical protagonist loving/desiring something and wanting to become the best at it. Same general storyline as Pokemon. The trials and errors, the victories and discoveries all go hand in hand... See full review

As always when reading my review one needs to understand the genre and target audience for the show. As far as mecha anime goes, this is not "Heavy Object", it's also not "Gundam". That is not to say the story is something new, it most certainly is not. What makes this better than average would be the use of the "person in a strange world" tag. Theme that's been exploited and sucked dry in the movie business has somehow eluded anime on a greater scale thus far. Soul Eater

I personally think that Soul Eater is the best series to show to an anime-newbie. The resound why is because that everything about the series is typical anime, and colorful at the same time. It shows what anime is like for better and for worse. Everything in the series including the music, the character, the story, the fights and the small cool ideas the show are build up by, are all very colorful. It makes the series interesting and enjoyable. One thing I like about soul Eater is that you have so many main characters with unique- and funny personalities. Another thing that I like about the... So if you want to watch something that has no substance, you have come to the right place! The two main girls are a wild, crazy one with an obssession with haikus and a fear of kites (bird not a kite on a string) and the other is a bland slightly more serious but really doesnt show it. The story thinks it is there but it's just the crazy girls wish to do something with 5-7-5 after reading a thing about pancakes. Animation wise its nice, not terrible and doesn't go crazy with weird reactions. Overall its kinda bland, only upside was the temptation of girl on girl with the 3rd character who had a thing... The Seven Deadly Sins

Lawgun's avatar By on Jun 2, 2016

It's just another adventure oriented anime with many borrowings from legendary FMA. It has nothing special except for very annoying main character and primitive jokes with some elements of ecchi which looks here are ridiculous because there much more ecchie than comedy, totally unbalanced. Story: It's plain and simple, awful boring start - dropped anime for first time, predictable overextended ending. Let's gather a party of heroes to defeat an evil, that's it. Though, there were interesting presentations of new heroes and some little stories were good. Animation: Not bad at... See full review

I heard everyone talk about how this is such a sad movie. I thought it'd be longer than 45 minutes, but those 45 minutes managed to thaw my cold heart and reduce me to tears. It is 3 in the morning and I am having an emotional breakdown because I just COULD NOT handle the feels of this movie... This is a beautiful, beautiful movie.

Donyatsu

I didn't really want my first review on this site to be for this show but oh well. Here goes. Look, I'll admit it. I'm still not sure if I like the manga series of this or not. I read multiple volumes of it and never came up with the answer. But what kept me reading even while I was ambivalent towards it was how strong the dichotomy was between the cuteness of Donyatsu and friends and the starkness of the world that surrounded them. The cover of the first volume with a cute donut cat in front and a skeleton in the background perfectly illustrates this and is what convinced me to try it. What made me... See full review

There is a lot of really good music here which remains memorable, however that is the only great part about this anime. The first 2 episodes basically spoil what will happen in episode 10. Then from Ep 3-9 it winds back in time to deliver the story of the characters, and how it became this way. From about Ep 5+ is where it gets mildly interesting.  For being tagged with horror, supernatural, demons, and action which would describe what should be an anime that I would love, it really didn't focus on those tags much beyond action. The demons looked really out of place and didn't fit in art wise except... See full review

By far my favourite anime! I love the story line, the little bits of gore are also very welcomed! Don't want to spoil the series so i'll just stop there.
