The Ambition of Oda Nobuna

Epimondas's avatar
Jan 22, 2017

Nobuna is a pretty good historical action drama but it does have a plot hole or two.  Yoshiharu is supposed to be a high school student but we have no idea about this from the anime really and no introduction or setting occurs in his own time, so the reality does not exactly set in.  The only real clues we have are his clothes and a cell phone that dies.  The animation is sub par with lots of frog face style character looks, though it is a bit better for many of the male characters and some of the older lady characters and backgrounds, but the style for many female characters is so old style... At first, the anime was pretty good when it was showing the brother and sister at home making breakfast and getting ready for school, with a responsible brother and an adorable little sister at first. It seemed like a great anime similar to the relation ship of the brother and sister in no game no life, but when things started to pick up the pace when it talked about the invaders and all that with the snotty attitude of the sister, well I was practically done with this anime.

There is not really much to review here, the show has 2 minute episodes, which are very calming, good for depressive evenings.Taken this way,Nyanko Days certainly fulfills its purpose.Every used resource, from voice actors,BGM,animation and character choices should be rated with this in mind.

Snow White is one of the best presentations of Anime I have yet seen.  It hits high marks on most every category I could think of that an anime might entail.  Everything may not be perfect but it does come close.  For a story that is almost about nothing, it is well crafted.  It is not exactly true that it is about nothing but it has none of the flashy action or world threatening overkill antagonists you might be accustomed to seeing in nearly every anime.  It wisely focuses on the story though a somewhat simple story it is, this story is enhanced by how well attention is paid to... Story I really love the plot for the story. It's very unique and makes you want to keep watching. However, there were way too many fillers. But the fillers were funny and enjoyable. Still, that kind of annoyed me because I wanted it to go onto the main story. Characters The characters where very loveable and memeorable. They all have their unique personalities. Including the minor characters and villains. My favorite would have to be Death the Kid. Never have I ever seen a character like him. He's obsessed with perfect symmetry, and he even almost got himself killed because he couldn't lay a finger on... See full review

The Eden of Grisaia

Pretty much a waste of time. I wasn't overly impressed with the Fruit of Grisaia, but I admit that you remember that anime for all of the fucked up shit it throws at you. In this case, all of that is gone - which should be a relief, I know, but instead works out taking away from this series the little that made it memorable.  In the Fruit of Grisaia, just to sum it up briefly, you had Yuuji, the male protagonist with no backstory, enrolling in a private academy (for no discernible reason) whose only students are 5 other girls. Following the typical visual novel pattern, with multiple stories and... See full review

Right, it's confession time for me. If you have been reading my reviews than you may have noticed that I tend to rip the anime a new one. There is a reason for this though and it has to do with the fact that I can't turn my brain off when watching anime. I can't ignore the stupid shown in the anime and this is a problem as most anime are very stupid indeed. In this case I'm not talking about a 90 pound girl catching a multi-ton cruise missile and throwing it back. Yes, it is stupid but it is a stupid that I'll allow. It's anime. Things like this are normal here and I'm pretty much fine with it. It annoys... See full review

Katanagatari was a nice change of pace to the rather dissappointing anime I have been watching lately.  It is rated very highly, and it is not a bad anime.  However I could not feel truly impressed with it, simply glad that it was not as bad as others that I have viewed recently.  The first thing that catches your eye is the very simplistic style.  This was used noticbly well in some scenes, and made the anime look very cheap in other scenes.  I find beauty in simplicity, but I suppose I should expand on that.  Simle is nice, but sloppy is not, and those two things are not... Definitely do not watch this movie if you've never read the manga or played the game. I loved the manga and I had been searching for this movie online for months and I finally found it only to be disappointed. The storyline is way too random and it took me until the end to realize what the "overall" plot of the movie was. Everything is everywhere and the story isn't fluid at all. I did enjoy seeing the characters I read in the manga come to life. It got to a point where I was bored and just waiting for it to be over and only finished it because I wanted to check it off my list (and I love Blood... See full review

Eureka Seven: New Order is more than a simple recap with an alternate ending. As a prelude to the then upcomming Eureka Seven AO the episode's goal was to give both new and old viewers a recap of the previous serious with one major change in mind. The ending. You see Eureka Seven's ending was very different from its source material and while the ending is way happier than going forward I think Bones thought it relevant to realign the anime as they prepared to release the new series. Whether this helped Eueka Seven AO I cant say but never the less I can definately see from a story... See full review

I do not think this anime was entertaining. Although the animation was great, the plot fell short in my opinion. Granted the “sports” theme is not my cup of tea, I decided to write this spoiler-free review to share my overall opinion for Free! Story The story revolves around a group of guys who participated in a swimming club when they were children. They meet again during their high school years and decide to reform a swimming club and compete. The plot is simple so unless they added some sort of unique factor it was unlikely to be entertaining and this is exactly what happened... See full review

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: I hadn't intended to watch this series, the basic premise alone spurred doubts it would amount to much beyond being another cheap SAO wannabe but after hearing some of the reviews calling it a train wreck I suddenly grew curious to see if and how bad it could be. After watching two episodes I can say this isn't the train wreck I was expecting but it remains far from a good series or even a diamond in the rough.  I can't blame folks who will drop it quickly, I'm not even sure why I'm sticking with it for the time being. Based off memory. Also, some minor spoilers. Assassination Classroom - Ansatsu Kyoushitsu. One of the most memorable anime that I will ever watch. I just want to point that out. Completely Spoiler Free Review: Story: 2/5  The story is about Inari, an elementary school kid and cheeky pervert, and Chiaki, the female video shop clerk. She just wants to work in peace, he wants to watch porn. That's the story and it won't go anywhere further. And that's fine. It's a humor driven narrative, so it doesn't need more. Is the humor good? Highly subjective, because it's right in the sweet spot between being childish and mature. It's no high art, but not low brow either.  Example: In one moment Inari tries to trick Chiaki by acting adult with simply holding... See full review

There are 2 main things that you can expect when watching, Sexual content and Combat. Nothing great here unless you are specifically looking to watch girls get touched and most of the resulting responses is audio based. It actually is more audio oriented sexual content than visual. The other thing to note is it is partially incest, pending how you view step sister/brother relations. This content is a bit dominant in the first 2 eps but then thins out after and focuses more on combat.  There is a fair amount of combat making up most of the remaining time. This series reminds me, not in style, story or characters, to The World God Only Knows. Their similarities lie in the fact that both started so horribly, only to have an massive uptick in quality during final season, and then leaving us wanting more. Story - 8/10 So as usual my reviews may be a bit spoiler heavy, but then again this series came out over eight years ago and I’m probably the only person who is just getting around to viewing it. Lain was one of those anime that plagued my recommendation lists. "Because you liked Steins;Gate, Casshern Sins, and When they Cry, watch Serial Experiments Lain". I put it off for a long time. The main reason for my hesitation in undertaking this series, is because of pseudo-intellectuals who wanted to appear sophisticated and intelligent because they watched Lain and could now explain the universe to the plebeian cattle. Spoilers ahoy! So going into this anime I had some decent hope for it, the characters looked nicely done and I was digging the premise. Yeah the whole chosen heroes battling the demon king thing is quite cliche, but I didn't get into the typical RPG aspects until later, and by then I was spoiled by 2005 esque game and anime quality so its hard for me to appreciate where the premise originated from. The premise is simple enough, 6 heroes chosen by the goddess of fate have to go fight the demon king, but there's a 7th hero, so the whole anime (which spans volume 1 of the light novel) is them finding out who... First of all, what the hell was the author thinking when he wrote the script?
The story begins somewhere near the end of the 20th century when we see a bunch of homelees guys sitting in a outside in a corner surouned by skyscrapers. They are soon attacked by a machine to which they fail answering it's question. The machine kills them and walks around until it meets the protagonist. From here starts the real story. This isn't a review per se, but rather an explanation of why Paranoia Agent is a very underrated series. ____________________________________________________________________________ Because of his tendency to eviscerate the hypocrisy of Japanese society as well as otaku subculture, Satoshi Kon's work is not that popular in Japan. It is said that Kon liked to create work distinctly targeted at adult audiences. You can see traces of experimental approaches even in his earliest titles, where he manages to blur the lines between fantasy and reality.  Paranoia Agent is his critique of the escapism that... I'm sad about it because it's done by Ufotable and the animation is completely awesome but what I blame is how it is long to move on. ALG WINTER 2017 STORY: The story follows "Bag", a young girl lost in the middle of wilderness, who befriends Serval, one of the animals living there. Together they set off on a long journey across the whole park, meeting its many inhabitants. With it's tedious plot at first I thought the show was obivously intended for very small children who can't tell a good show from a bad one, but then the fanservice hit hard, and now I'm just confused as to who the targeted audience is supposed to be. Either way, if you're over 2 you won't be able to comprehend its hidden genius. ANIMATION: I have... See full review

Not much to say, story is predictable, they literally SHOW you everything, even a human with a little brain would do 2+2 and reach the conclusion. Characters are well developed though, even more than the first GO ones. But some got zero screen-time, I'm pretty irritated about it. Zanakuro, and Tsurugi too, that got kidnapped (and the worst thing is that the watchers KNEW ABOUT IT ALL THE TIME, HOW THE FUCK COULD WE WORRY IF THEY SHOW US THAT HE IS OKAY?). It was like that in CS too with Beta (or Gamma that got kicked by another enemy even before trying to stop our heroes), since they are too goddamned... See full review

*spoiler alert* writen by someone who is not a native speaker and has dyslexia lol - first episode review - okay so kuzu no honkai starts off with a girl who has a fetish for her onii-san (ugh) who is also her homeroom teacher. And a guy who also has a fetish for his old home-school teacher (I think something like that) also she is the music teacher at the same school. So because the boy and the girl are both in love with ther teachers, they decide to start dating each other so that they don't feel lonely. I was watching the first episode and I thought what the actually fuck: these guys just started... See full review

A great anime that I have seen over and over. But no matter what, I couldn't stop rewatching it. A story about a group of students that have a similar past or present, with an adorable character that does not know how to convey their feelings to the other character. And when she almost dies by falling off the roof, she gets saved by her lover. With all the excitement, they both find ways to hint that they like each other. But no matter what happens they still stay pure and doesn't do any inappropriate actions.  sadly in this series they don't get to kiss.

Intro: The story becomes gripping from the first episode when 10 000 thousand players. Discovers that them are trapped in the game and then the message comes. That thousands of players have already died, because parents and siblings have ignored the warning not to take of them the Nerve Gear helmet. The only way they can return is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - that is, if their HP doesn't drop to zero first, for death in the game means death in the real world. Characters: Normally you create your own character in games. But here is... See full review

Magical Girl Raising Project

This anime is what made me lose interest in magical girl deconstructions. Not only because everyone kept trying to mimic Madoka Magica until it became its own stereotype, but also because as a subgenre it is just a placeholder. It doesn’t mean anything on its own; only what you do with it. Basically, I wasn’t seeing it as a cruel take on cutsy mahou shojo, since that’s the bare minimum every single one of these shows is doing so it can be called a dark subversion, or whatever buzzword you want to use in an attempt to make it sound better than what it is.

I was seeing it as a... See full review

Let me just say the circumstances surrounding each character is very anime like but the characters themselves are likeable and human like.  We can divide this season into the past (ep 1-5) and present (6-10). You must have watched the first season to understand what is going on in ep 6-10 for character explanations but the way they did ep 1-5 could be a standalone story or you could very well watch it before you watch the first season. The first part is a real tear jerker and will put you on a feels coaster if you aren't prepared while the second part is just an exciting action packed... See full review
