Diabolik Lovers

After seeing the reviews for this anime, part of me was walking into it expecting to hate it. However, I also wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt and see what the show was like for myself. So I'm going to do my best to give my thoughts on the infamous anime known as Diabolik Lovers (all while attempting to keep spoilers to a minimum). Story:  I'm going to be totally honest here. There's hardly anything that could be considered a "plot" here. Most of the time it's just the main character Yui getting her blood sucked (btw how she hasn't died or turned from the amount of sucking is... See full review

Short Review: Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica is a spectucular masterpiece of anime. The godlike mixture of pyschological, drama and thriller are on a whole new a level. I have to admit, it took me a while to solidify my feelings on this anime.  I wasn't expecting much, but after 3 episodes I couldn't get rid of the feeling of how generic this show is.  By episode 3 I "should" be caring about at least 1 character.  Not in this case.  And the plotline is just as bad. WARNING SPOILERS AHEAD.  Episode 1 - A male protaganist has trouble transforming into his battle form.  Solves that problem just in time to save himself and the female protagonist.  Episode 2 - Female protagonist put in charge of team.  Team not happy about it... Sorry, I know it's weird to make a serious review about this anime... but here we go XD Each episode have 3 minutes, so actually watching it may be faster than reading this review...   (but that would be more agonizing) Story: As you can guess from the title, "bananya" is a banana-cat/cat-banana/whatever you want to call that. The story would be like... the daily life of these creatures. There's not a plot, you know... No conflicts, nothing... just the narrator showing what the bananyas are doing. Animation: It's smooth, I guess... the characters are... See full review

This anime is rather strange but I find it hilarious. The art work is gorgeous, the characters are a little immature, I dont think there will be and real type of character development or anything. but besides that I still think its a cute light hearted anime, I am excited see the rest of it. (only on episode 3)

Wooow, It bored me and anoyed both me and my boyfriend after 10 minutes. The filming was showing the schools hallway upside down randomly for no reason, and the background characters were frozen. I don't like that. The main characters had no personality, and nothing happened, so we dropped it after 10 minutes or so. I didn't pay attention to the music, but this movie gave absoultely no impressions.. I can honestly say that I already have forgotten everything that happened which were littarary nothing!  So sad, so boring.

Well than... how to start....? okay this series for starters needs a sequel... LET'S BEGIN! Story: 9 out of 10 for the sometimes quite random topics and no decent start. Animation: The animation is very good.. it's very smooth for the eye. Sound: It's pretty good for a 2011 series! Characters: Yes they are good, all with a good backstory! Now here you are wondering why i say it is good and so short right? WELL I dont want to make the cat of poverty angery! Let alone make her angery to the point that i get bad luck :( There! Happy gods?

What I Liked: The character designs were quite pleasing. Sally-chan-sensei. The Yosakoi shop owner, who was woefully underutilised. Backgrounds and set-designs are all gorgeous, and the show has this wonderfully soft and relaxing colour scheme to it. The subtle character development for all the main girls, especially Naru and Yaya (even if she did start of as a bit of an arse). What I Didn't: There was a lot of needless clichéd melodrama in the show, especially in the later half, making the whole thing tonally inconsistent. Some episodes jumped multiple times between dramatic and happy scenes. A lot... See full review

Okay, so the best way to describe this show would be "the unholy love child of Powerpuff Girls and South Park". That is the kind of vibe it gives off. Unfortunately, it's not as interesting as Powerpuff Girls (unless we're talking about the PPG remake because pretty much ANYTHING is better than that) and it lacks the sharp satire that makes South Park what it is. What's left is an action packed wild ride full of crude humor and offensiveness for offensiveness's sake.   That said, it is interesting and funny, has extremely catchy music, and a colorful art style that's unique and visually... Dragon Ball Super

Let's take a shot at a more fair, objective review since the ones posted seem biased. I'll be brave and just say it: Dragon Ball Super is not bad! For the avid anime fan or someone growing up in the late 90s there was nothing like Dragon Ball Z. The hype was incomparable, and the beloved series had no equal for many. That is, until the Buu Saga, which was when, for many, the franchise began to crash and the writers had stopped even trying.  While many fans would like to omit much of the later end of the Buu Saga, we can't pretend it didn't happen, it did, we just have to move on. The Asterisk War (2016)

delolmo's avatar By on Jul 17, 2016

Gakusen Toshi Asterisk was a waste of time. I do not recommend it to anyone as it had several obvious flaws in the plot that really messed up the anime as a whole. This is a spoiler-free review based on the first and second seasons. Story The plot is not necessarily original. This is the typical story set in a different type of world/future where schools fight for prizes and honor or so speak. Special swords/guns are used by students in duels and tournaments. The fact that the story could go in various directions despite the not so original plot could be a plus, but since the execution was very... See full review

I'm honestly shocked by how much I enjoyed "Black Butler."  I had actually tried to watch this series a few years ago and I just absolutely despised it.  But then, after being encouraged to try again by a few people, I decided to give it a go because why not.  The first 5 episodes were difficult to slog through, but after that...the pace picked up and the story became genuinely interesting. The story of "Black Butler" follows Ciel Phantomhive, a 12-year-old boy who has sold his soul to a demon in return for revenge.  He wants to kill the people who tortured him and... See full review

Short simple review It seems anyone not very familiar with the source material will be quite lost watching this show. Entire episodes will leave you wondering what is going on and why. Flashback scenarios come on like a mac truck and it takes a while to even figure out that is what is going on. There's at least one episode that seemingly has no point except to mirror a vocaloid song. The story behind it is intriguing but the method of execution is terribly pretentious at times. Not to mention that episodes don't flow with time and things are presented out of order. It is a challenge to follow. Its... See full review

For a video review, check out my Youtube channel. Link on my profile page. Positive *My first positive point was one of the reasons I really wanted a second season of Terraformars and that was number 1. In the second season we finally get to see the strongest fighter of the crew or at least he is according to the MARS ranking. Now next to number 1 I was also glad that Keiji returned in the second season since he was one of my favorite characters in season 1. And here he played an important role instead of just having his own arc like in that first season.  On that note I also have to mention that... See full review

First impressions review (will update when completed); Hatsukoi Monster is a show which grabbed my attention. Firstly, the cover looks pretty nice, and secondly, the description defies all expectations set by the cover to describe a bizarre romance story, the likes of which I personally haven't experienced before. Kaho, the protagonist, is rescued from being run over by a tall, handsome stranger. They find out they are living in the same apartment complex, and subsequently they end up going out with each other - and Kaho discovers her new boyfriend is in 5th grade. So, he's 10. 10!!!!!!!! What I Liked: The minimalist Flash animation that mixes simple cel-shaded figures of varying detail with semi-photo-realistic backgrounds. The character designs were interesting and full of personality. Nice use of classical music as the score. The Ending Theme, which was as catchy as it was nice and rocky. Episode 3. Voice acting was perfectly over-the-top and suited the silliness of the show. The run-time was perfect for the kind of humour the show was presenting - any longer would have risked the show feeling like a one-trick pony. What I Didn't: It's rather obvious when previous assets are used... See full review

Right, it's confession time for me. If you have been reading my reviews than you may have noticed that I tend to rip the anime a new one. There is a reason for this though and it has to do with the fact that I can't turn my brain off when watching anime. I can't ignore the stupid shown in the anime and this is a problem as most anime are very stupid indeed. In this case I'm not talking about a 90 pound girl catching a multi-ton cruise missile and throwing it back. Yes, it is stupid but it is a stupid that I'll allow. It's anime. I would love to tell you this anime stands head and shoulders above the rest, but it is pretty much a mecha anime that is filled with cliches.  The story is not so uncommon among anime and a few mecha tales, like I think Guren Lagen has some similarities.  Ken is a rather boring belliigent middle aged man who tells everyone he is actually 18, but he doesn't look it, act it, nor does his suggested level of training and experience correspond to his claims.  He is a flat one dimensional character who only ever seems concered with killing ogres or talking about them.  His only concern for... DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS ONE! It only caught my attention because the animation is very good, the story sucks and the girl is like a blood container that's always full. I can't believe how she can still run after she has been sucked by 2-3 vampires at the same time. The school uniform is pretty cool, but they only attended school ONCE and there was not much story about it. Overall, the only interesting episodes are the last 3. No sexual at all, it just seem sexual because the vampires bit her in certain parts of the body that the blood flows is faster.

Short and simple review based on 1st episode. Can't speak to the entire series but often the first episode is where a lot of effort, planning and budget go into. This fell completely flat on it's face though. It fails to build any kind of suspense and dives straight into resolving any mystery it creates within 120 seconds of the conflict having been introduced. It moves incredibly fast and is supremely predictable. Excellent concept but the execution is one of the most flawed I've ever seen. If it were even mediocre bad I wouldn't be drawn to review it based on a single episode, but this made me laugh... See full review

Despite the name of the anime F(Formula) there isn't as much racing as you'd expect.

The characters are not very well developed and their motivations and behavior seem to defy common sense at times, though you get a better sense of why they would behave like that once their backgrounds are revealed, but it still feels like something murky.

My biggest complaint aside from the relative lack of racing, is the main charcter, Gunma. I just don't think the drama of his background works all that well with his impulsive happy-go-lucky nature. He's fairly annoying throughout the series with minor... See full review

I wanted to watch it because of its pretty animation - but oh boy was I disappointed. I think this anime is really a question of taste and a discussion about if this anime is good or not is nonsense. The characters in my opinion are horrible, the comedy not my cup of tea and the romance so out of place that I don't know what to say. But I especially dislike pretty much all jokes and was shaking my head the whole time - it's a pity really. I thought this was going to be better. I dropped it after the second episode. What I Liked: The varying dynamics in the fratello relationships. The ending theme suited the series down to a T. Generally well-animated, with fluid action scenes and beautiful set designs. The premise of preteen assassins and political tension in late-90's Italy is a great hook. Sound design is great, especially in regards to the guns. The muted colour palette, which is admittedly a hallmark of its time, works nicely here. Most of the girls get a considerable amount of development. It's a shame they made this anime so short, it will be more interesting if there was more content, I get that the main point was at the end, but there wasn't much in the story. Also, the girl is so "empty", I get she doesn't have her memories and doesn't understand but her reactions are dull, it's like she doesn't have any expresions at all. The animation was very good, the dual eye colors are pretty cool and the characters were interesting. Short Review: Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae o Boku-tachi wa Mada Shiranai or Ahohana for short is a spectacular masterpiece of anime. The level of dramatic mixture into the anime is outstandingly surreal and with little romance to spice things up. This anime is capable of making... See full review

Berserk (2016)

Short version:
...Ooof. This was a low blow if nothing else. Terrible CG runs rampant in the first 2 episodes, with the first episodes visuals having unforgivably poor quality. The second episode looks much better, but it came at the expense of skipping past a ton of The Black Swordsman arc. I haven't dropped this one yet. No. 6

I also didn't think so many people would die in this show (not main characters) and seeing so many dead bodies, other than the people killed by crazy wasps, was kind of unnerving because of the recent tragedies throughout the world. Also the completely random God wasp lady of the forest was a very weak story line. Then the end was really disappointing. Nezumi just walked away? What the fuck? Come back here you ugly rat, you can't just... See full review

Norn9

For me, this anime is one of a kind. I have watched a lot of anime over time, and Norn9 is on my top second favorite anime (Fairy Tail is #1 in my book). I loved the story. It had some suspense and a lot of emotion and drama.  I love the characters and each of their personalities. I started crying in the last episode. Those who watched it before might understand. But those who have not watcehd this anime before, this is a great anime to watch (in my opinion).
