this is not only one of my favourite anime series, it's my favourite shakespeare adaptation. the changes to the source material may not go down well with purists, but with myself not being a fan of the origonal story I really took to the changes and was glad a writter wasn't afraid to really reintrpret this. the characters were enjoyable, the action is good, the story was really engaging and the perfect number of episodes and the romance is very belivable and gives the characters great chemistry and unlike the orignoal story were given enough time to see it develop.  my only real complaint is the use... Mardock Scramble: The Third Exhaust

Rbastid's avatar By on May 22, 2016

The subtitle of this installment, "The Third Exhausted" couldn't be any more apropos, as it's an exhausting series to try and like. Story - 2/10 When I say the story left off where part two ended, I'm surprisingly not exaggerating. Rune and Dr. Easter are still seated at the blackjack table, trying to win enough chips so they can gather all the million dollar coins that store Shell's memories.  This goes on for half of the film, with time wasted on reciting card counting theory and other tips to blackjack. Once the house finds out they send someone in to break up Dr. Easter's plan, so... See full review

Nurse Witch Komugi-chan R

NOTE: There might be spoilers!   Story 7/10: I always enjoy a good anime that has the nostalgic feeling of magical girl animes. It cute and fun to watch. It's great to see how the characters balance their daily lives while battling monsters.   Characters 8/10: All three main characters are students and local idols. Komugi is dressed up as a Nurse after her transformation. Her sidekick is Usa-P. She is kind and quirky. Kokona is dressed up as a Maid. Her sidekick is Tanu-P. Kokona is kind, determined and intelligent, however; she displays a different side of her personality while she is... See full review

Ga-Rei -Zero-

CrazyBeverly96's avatar By on May 21, 2016

I leave this series with much less excitement than I started it with. While it is by all means watchable, 12 episodes was definitely enough. Anything beyond that would be a waste of time. Story: 6/10 At its core, Ga-Rei: Zero is a tragedy about two step-sisters driven by their supernatural fates. Often times, the scenes of the sisters’ ever-changing relationship were very interesting to watch. However, almost everything else that took up screen time was underwhelming, mediocre, or just plain confusing. When the step-sisters were not in focus, what would take over would be either the unconvincing... See full review

Unlike many anime and manga out there, the description is NOT just flavor text. They really do treat her like garbage. Except for the vampire drinking blood bit, this is genuine abuse, like you would see in real life. Other tags could include horror, slice of life, and fantasy(vampires).  If you want vampiric romance, this is definitely not a show for you.  It certainly wasn't the show for me! If I could rate it lower than half a star I would... Like others have stated, it's vile.. The abuse is HEAVY in this show.

This is probably not the most useful review of an anime ever, but..... The main character "Rin-kun" has the firmest grasp of other people's names in the history of the world..... "Kaede. Kaede. Kaede. Kaede." "Primula. Primula. Primula. Primula." "Nerine. Nerine. Nerine. Nerine." "Asa-sempai. Asa-sempai. Asa-sempai. Asa-sempai." I wasn't sure if he was trying to keep himself from forgetting their names or if this was 24 episodes of an instructional video on proper name pronunciation........ Hello, my name is Crow, and welcome to my review~ Story: 6/10 To prevent her school from being closed, Kousaka Honoka starts an idol group in hopes of attracting more students for next year. I don't have much else to say about the plot, honestly, it's just about what you'd expect from a moe idol show. The girls write some songs and hold performances, but this is not a story-driven anime, and way more focus is spent on the girls' personalities and relationships rather than an overarching storyline. It's extremely predictable, but it can be pretty enjoyable for lovers of cute, lighthearted slice of life... See full review

This is a unique story:n Male protagonist who has a secret or awesome power and is surrounded by girls... yeah. The plost seemed interesting enough. A teenage boy who gained amazing abilities when aroused through some comedic accidents. These moments didn't seem to come up as much as it should of and made the fighting scenes less enjoyable because he didn't go into "badass mode." When Aria's backstory was introduced, I thought "man this anime can be really good." It wasn't. They had a great oppurtunity to develop not only the story but the characters as well. If you like Sheldon from Big Bang Theory, you'll most certainly like the female main character as well. Shizuku's just as annoying and no good for real human interacions as he is. The whole time she is quite firm and sadly only softens just a tiny bit. The other main character is Haru, who's a boy genious with anger managment issues. Just like Bruce Banner with a big sprinkle of insanity. The whole show follows the "get together...oh wait I don't want to get distracted from studying thus I don't like you after all...oh wait I changed my mind" story of these 2. To... See full review

This is one of the very few anime I will give perfect marks to. Everything about it was spectacular. It was very immersive as I felt my emotions sway as if it were a ship over troubled water. The openings and endings were so peaceful, and framed the show rather well. The only problem I had witch characters was in the first episode. Hikari was acting like a jerk (something that in real life would have worked, despite logic) but as the character grew and developed, I got over it. I'm a huge fan of Dubbed anime, but the fake Irish and Scots accents in this are just painfully bad.  You get used to it over time but it really grates on the ears at first.  Set in a fictional Roman Britain, a ragtag band of Gaels fights against the Romans and have the power of Celtic mythical beings on their side.  One of the Roman officers, Octavia, defects and sides with the Gaels.  Lots of political intrigue and scheming and combat.  It's a fairly decent anime, but probably the sub version in Japanese is the one you want to watch.

If you put an N to the end of Sata's name, you'll get the perfect description of him.  Apart from Sata being a butt and Erika acting overly keen this show is quite enjoyable. I often caught myself frowning or laughing out loud. Bonus point for the musis. Both the opening and the ending are catchy. I'd recommend this anime if you're keen on watching a casual and entertaining show.

I saw this movie in theaters when it came out. It is the first and last Miyazaki film that I've ever seen in theaters, and I found it to be one of the best films he's ever made. Of course, all of his movies are wonderful, but this is a masterpiece. I love the storytelling, animation, music, characters, pacing, color palates, and voice acting. Every scene that transformed into a dream took my breath away. Communicating the way it feels to dream and wonder in the same way it feels can be very challenging, and as a painter, I was more than impressed. Miyazaki is a true master of storytelling and... Naruto the Movie 1: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow

lou6972's avatar By on May 18, 2016

Mediocre that is the word I would use to describe this movie.  While it's not terrible it just doesn't do anything to stand out among all the filler from Naruto.  The actress is quite annoying through out the entirety of the film and the fight scenes are sorely lacking.  The final fight especially was dissapointing when each character is defeated in essentially one move.  It does capture the feel of early Naruto episodes which is nice and keeps to some of the early themes but that and the good quality animation are not enough to make this a must see.

Anime was good and it didnt drag on nor did it move to quickly which can be hard for a 12 episode season. As with most animes this short it needed to be longer and describe more back story to the main character and what he is like. But it is only 12 eps so ill judge it based off that and not knock them down for it.  However this anime lacked a strong plot and a good fighting system. The battle scenes were dry and needed moer length and animation to them. The main character too seemed like a bad ass but they never ever tried to get him fully to show his power. This is the first time I am coming across a Shoujo series that revolves around a group of boys & with a male lead. The episodes are short but sweet with a gentle sprinkle of comedy. This anime is extremely cute. I love everything about it. Of course, if you're looking for action this is not the place to be and many have called this anime boring. I disagree. This anime is about Tanaka, and Tanaka is listless so what you expect? Watching his efforts to get through everyday tasts with minimal effort is very entertaining to me, and if you like that sort of thing, this show is for you. TL;DR - This show is actually pretty entertaining. Nitpicky criticism aside, I would recommend at least giving it a chance up until episode 4 or 5. If you're not entertained by then, drop it. Also, finally - another anime appears which doesn't treat its female characters as fodder. ***REVIEW CONTAINS MINOR SPOILERS*** The apocalyptic world premise is very popular and can be overused, but the Kabane in this anime are interesting in that they're not like other anime/TV show zombies: they're actually pretty strong and formidable enemies that can fight with intense skill. While it may seem like an interesting anime, Pupa's plot can be completely explained in one sentence; Spotty, practically nonexistant and likely will end with some incestual, cannibalistic relationship. Some people may be into that, but it is barely featured in the anime itself. Most of the episodes focus on flashbacks with little importance to the currently incomplete plot. The four minute episode gives one quick glances into what's going on, making it seem like one is watching scattered pieces of one whole, with large chunks missing. A side plot is introduced in one episode, only to never be mentioned... See full review

Most ordinary dramas about mundane life are pretty dull and have little interest since you can experience that sort of thing in real life, but this story stands out despite it seeming so ordinary.  It is pretty funny and filled with interesting characters.  There is at least one thing though that is so flawed and unreal that it is impossible to beleive any fraction of truth to it.  And that is the loss of Haruna, Ooto's wife.  No one can be that lost even to the point of looking around in sewers that they vanish for that long simply wandering around looking for home.  Has she not... Finally the parents have been introduced! It still annoys me how largely absent they are in the lives of Atsushi & Atsumi but this is a problem in most Anime I have come across. It makes no sense to me how the parents did not bother clearing up things with the police and the localites so that Atsushi would not have to be harrassed so much. Nevertheless, its still a fun anime to watch that you can finish in just half an hour. I can definetly afford to spend that much time to watch an anime such as this despite its flaws.

With a slight improvement in animation and addressing some major issues of the previous series this third installment builds on the characters and their interactions with each other. New characters are introduced which was a welcome move and created opportnities for fresher puns. Three police women that had been introduced in season 2 are now recurring characters who know Atsushi (Thanks to the clear up in the previous series) and therefore he is no longer being hauled to the police station as a "molester". This is a 2 minute take on the circumstances that change and those that remain the same in a gender swapped scenario (Genders of the siblings is retained but all side characters are of the opposite sex). In this episode, Atsushi is the elder albeit stunted brother of Atsumi. One striking element to this whole premise that this episode intentionally brought out was how the police did not consider Atsumi to be a child molester because of her gender. I personally found it hard to accept the gender changes but appreciate how the above hypocricy(?!) in our society was addressed.

I didn't watch it all the way through and I kind of just skimmed it, but basically it's just the first bit of the anime. I didn't see anything different. I was hoping it would be a coninuation or something but it's not. It's just one of those lets make a movie by placing all the episodes together and removing the songs and stuff in between. It ends where Kei washes up on shore after the whole research facility thing. I imagine the next two movies will be the same way which basically makes the worthless. Why even bother making them? I don't see the point.

PurplePeopleEater's avatar By on May 15, 2016

The first time I watched this, I dropped it about ten minutes into the first episodes. I'm not a fan of CGI in anime, although I will admit Ajin did a far better job with it that some others. However, I ended up going back to watch it and I'm glad I did.  The main character reminds me a bit of Lelouch from Code Geass. He is calm, calculating, intelligent, and appears to lack empathy. He can lie easily and fit his behavior to his current need, but sometimes the unexpected happens. At times though, it is hard to like him as a main character and during the second half, the focus shifts away from him a... See full review

The Rolling Girls

This anime is pretty terrible. It takes a lot for me to give any anime a bad review, but this one pulled it off. the first two episodes were pretty good, if only the show continued like that, it would be a great anime.  The story was really all over the place, making it very difficult to follow. The main character are essentially side characters as they take a background role in most arcs.  There are some "WTF" moments as the show continues to disappoint. The comedy in it isn't funny at all.  Every bad aspect keeps adding to my dislike of the show. There are very few good... See full review

ERASED

This is really a must-see, the time travel plot was well executed and the music and animation were incredible. The opening is really good too, I recommend watching "What's in an op? - Erased" om youtube. I would be giving this a 10/10, but like most animes.. there has to be something that ruins it. The first 10 episodes were outstanding but when it came to the last few.. it really ruined it. I don't want to spoil it but be prepared to be upset by the awful ending that follows what could've been something truly wonderful. Something I'd like to add is that there wasn't much character development and... See full review

Mirai Nikki

this show is the interstellar of anime. The ending will mess you up, if you don't understand it I recommend reading the last chapter of the manga because it's 10X better than the show's ending. The main reason I love this show is because it's hard deciding on the liking of the characters. Most of the time while watching this show I kept saying I hate that character, oh man actually I like that character, actually no I hate that character! Which I loved doing because it really made you think about the characters  situations and their personalities! Overall this is a really good show it's a crazy love... See full review

Digimon Season 4: Frontier

SeasonsGuide's avatar By on May 15, 2016

SPOILERS The show is about a group of kids that are given the power to become digimon. With great power come great failures and nothing is better that the losing streak this group goes on. At every battle they are hailed as "saviors" and "heroes", but no matter how hard they fight everyone they know and love or literally just met in digital world dies and they do nothing but flounder around and get "stronger" by simply taking more power and not actually learning how to use it. In the end the entire world is destroyed and by some fluke chance they manage to put everything back... See full review

Haven't You Heard? I'm Sakamoto

PurplePeopleEater's avatar By on May 14, 2016

This is basically a plotless anime that relies on ridiculous stories and comedy. That being said, it's not bad. I usually will watch an episode when I feel like watching a light anime that doesn't require much work like remembering characters and stuff. It's a shallow anime full of ridiculous stories focusing on an odd main character who is "stylish at everything he does".  When I first read the description, I really wasn't sure whether or not to try it. I couldn't see where such an idea could go, and it turns out it doesn't really go anywhere. It doesn't develop or have a climax or anything... See full review

Twin Star Exorcists

PurplePeopleEater's avatar By on May 14, 2016

What started out okay quickly went downhill. After watching the first episode I thought it might be a little bit interesting and was at least worth continuing. By the sixth episode I completely lost interest and I probably won't bother watching the next episode when it comes out.  The artwork isn't bad nor is the animation. It reminds me of a lot of other kids anime. The animation and sound aren't anything to complain about. The problem lies in the story and characters.  Rokuro once wanted to become the strongest exorcist but after seeing his friends slaughtered one day, he left that dream... See full review

Kuromukuro

So far this anime doesn't seem to be grabbing a lot of viewers but the first six episodes have been good. Yes it's a mecha anime, but it has some nice twists and from my experience, is decently differenet from others. Of course, I myself didn't start watching till six episodes were out and I was dying for something to watch. That was mainly because the description/summary on here and on the site I watch the anime on were pretty terrible at explaining anything or grabbing my attention. Well, I hate summarizing stories but I will try here.  It starts out with a rather ditzy air head high schooler who's... See full review
