The Apothecary Diaries

I've got to go against the grain here. I understand this is an incredibly popular series but personally, I don't see how it could be considered incredible let alone one of the all time greats. The story feels incredibly driven by coincidence. At 21 episodes in we don't even have an idea of who the emperor is, who the antagonist is, what Maomao wants in life (or anyone else), and the whole show just coasts along as a result. At this point we know that someone is out to kill someone for some reason and the only thing we know is who they want to kill which makes it hard to cheer for someone to beat this... See full review

Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!

This anime could've actually been something if the main character wouldn't be your typical, boring, basic mc who for some reason is loved by every girl he talks to. The main character's personality either felt really forced or just bland throughout the first 4 episodes, after that I just stopped watching the series because of him. The girls were super cute tho and didn't feel bland like the mc, the series could've been so much more if the writer would've just taken out the mc. Wouldn't really recommend to anyone except if you're the type of loner who they make these type of shitty series for.

Honestly I didn't even relize season three was released till 7 episodes in. I discovered it when scrolling through my fyp on tik tok. Considering how popular Classroom of the Elite is/was I'm suprise it didn't get more attention. Personally, I like the first and second season better. However that doesn't mean that the third season is bad. I still hope we get to see more aynokojis backround. If you watched the previous seasons you should have a generall ideaa of what it about and whats going to happen. If you didn't watch the first 2 seasons I recommend watching them and than coming back to seasons... See full review

Doctor Elise: The Royal Lady with the Lamp

Well, unfortunately this anime left me disappointed. It had a strong premise and foreshadowed some very interesting plot points. Yet it almost completely ignores the foreshadowed plot points and just doesn't live up to its potential. I assumed she would re-enter a comparatively primitive world (from a medical standpoint). I was anticipating story beats, similar to the real story of Ignasz Semmelweis, who campaigned to introduce acceptable hygenic standards in clinics. I expected her to run up against an entrenched and conservative medical establishment, who takes umbrage at her attempts to introduce... See full review

This one has an OK story, but it's overall not really good quality and then they did that creepy thing that I wished was long wiped from anime in episode 11. Misogyny. One-sided sexualisation and objectification of female characters, non-consensual intimate touching (between women doesn't make that BS more acceptable AND no damn woman behaves like male creeps and touches boobs without consent, damn it!). That asides of body shaming over breast sizes, like what the hell is wrong with you, women aren't men who seem to compete with "cucumber length comperisons" and "fighting" all the time... one of the best movies ever. opening thoughts/ this is a wonderful film from start to end. every time i watch it i get emotional. that only happens with the best shows and movies for me. this is a prequel to no game no life. it sets up the world great. and its able to stand on its own without needing to see the no game no life anime. the world is so well made and colorful. the lore behind this is so cool and interesting.  its also one of the best survival movies i have seen. as the main character riku fights to stay alive in a seemingly never ending war between beings much stronger then him... Solo Leveling

Feb 17, 2024

Preface
Solo Leveling is the most eagerly anticipated anime of Winter 2024, mostly because it faced minimal competition from new releases. Hype aside, it still got eclipsed by the ongoing success of Frieren from the previous season and it is a fairly standard power fantasy that got fervently praised by fans of the web comic. As is usually the case with fans they want you to believe it’s some subversive masterpiece, although it does nothing that its predecessors haven’t already explored, often with superior execution. Furthermore, its glaringly apparent flaws provide plenty of reasons for the... See full review

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End

1) Not saturated
Although I do not gravitate towards such genres, it is easy to see why Frieren got to be loved by so many watchers. The fantasy genre had suffered for many years, since such anime were usually lackluster videogame adaptations that were just going over the events of the game with no care for pacing or character appeal. Even worse, the isekai plague had led to a dozen fantasy-themed shows each season, most of which were slight variations of the same, lazily-written power fantasy tropes that usually involve harems and slavery. Frieren didn’t belong in either of these two types. It was... See full review

For the longest time, I couldn't wrap my head about the contents of Nichijou: My Ordinary Life (Kyoto Animation, 2011) due to the fast-paced, zany, disconnected, non sequitur humor that seemed at first to follow two plotlines.  First, the antics of Mio, Mai, and Yuuko, three schoolgirls and all the really strange classmates (and even stranger teachers).  The second stream centered around Nano, a robot (the wind-up key in her back the big clue of her android nature) developed by Shinonome Lab, and how she deals with spoiled child Hakase and tormented black cat Sakamoto.  No real storylines... Genuinely, I think this show became quickly the most disconnected thing from reality as it possibly could. Aoi, the character that was most likely supposed to be the heroine romanced character of the MC, quickly became a background character. This is in my opinion, a SNAFU rip off. The 2nd season doesn't feel remotely human. The characters background aren't fully explained, their personalities are a large mess, and there is almost no one you can relate to but Aoi because her background is still questionable, but her actions make sense because you just don't know her background yet (nor will you ever). This anime holds no appeal for what it seeks to be, people rate it and give it acclaim for what it's not. But all of the concepts and ideas that the anime explores are not new or original, this anime is essentially flavor of the month and will fall behind to be forgotten as it is not a true treasure of time, it is merely a novelty of the moment by contrast. There's no need to watch it outside of maintaining relevancy with what's currently popular.

overall this was very underwhelming. i got frustrated with miyano a lot, because he was just so dense. how many straight guys exclusively read BL? i definitely would have preferred him to figure out his feelings earlier and for other drama to keep him and sasaki separated. at least then something would be happening!! if you like shounen-ai and belligerent slow burns then this is the anime for you, but if you like drama and excitement that isn't a bunch of lukewarm meet-cutes strung together by a very loose thread i'd skip this one. i definitely won't be reading the manga -_-

As someone who saw the anime first, then skimmed the manhwa, I think the anime was great. It was engaging and interesting. I think it was well balanced and paced great. But in comparison to the manhwa, I think some parts were jumbled and changed, while others [from my memory] simply came out of no where. I can't say anything in terms to the novel, since I have't read it and don't know where I could read it.  Based on the anime alone: 9/10 Anime compared to the manhwa: 7.5/10  I would say the art is pretty good, but I can see why people were concerned with it based on teaser poster... I love Konosuba's humor, I'll admit that my humor is pretty immature, so this is the kind of anime I tend to like Lol. However, with this spin-off, I found myself getting pretty bored. I think the main reason for this is just the fact that the anime only focuses on Megumin, so without the whole group there, I didn't enjoy it as much. Not to say this anime is bad at all, it's still pretty funny and I'm glad I watched it, but I just didn't enjoy it as much as I'd hoped to. This was a tough one for me to review, there is a interesting fantasy story that is tainted with the pervy weird slave/bondage/reward mixed in theme.  This is not family oriented, it is not normal anime watching material, it is also not hentai, it is some out there combination they mashed together.  The world building is interesting and well done, the characters are interesting and the goals of most of the characters are pretty good.  It is the pervy stuff that takes away from the story ... The story has ended years ago like in 2019-2020, and now they are trying to create the manga and the anime based on the light novel. The 2nd season sucks because they don't know how to make the story in a way that it allows them to sell it to anyone, if they follow the light novels content it will be an 18+ story for sure because it involves sexual content therefore they cannot sell it any more on Crunchyroll, many people in Europe and America use it, the series would be considered a combination between gore hentai and dark fantasy. Not to say season three is bad, I'd describe it as decent. I liked season one pretty well, it was exciting and I liked the whole school concept and the different challenges. When season two came around, it was still a decently interesting story with the whole cruise ship arc and everything, but the animation was so bad that it kind of put a damper on the story. Some vague spoilers, but really more of a summary. To start this is a school arc, our MC is a teacher, rather than student.

What is hard, is getting past both "hero" episodes 2 & 3. Our MC main story line takes a backseat to what most of us won't give a sh!t about. But it is what it is.

Then we have our "favorite" apparently cannon mini arc throughout a few episodes of Mio trying to learn to cook human food & also almost killing everyone who taste tests it. Nailed that troop hard. Feels more like filler, but cannon filler.

Around episode 4 things seem to get... See full review

Well, let's start by explaining my former statement. Blue Spring Ride has everything your average romance anime would have: the bubbly, clumsy and naïve... See full review

This a bit of an emotional review, because the anime triggered the shit out of me lol. But, anyway, I must say that most reviews don't do justice to the anime. I'd have to admit that it's fairly predictable, so if you're someone who hates predictable stories, don't go for this one. If you also have watched/read many stories so far of such genre, you might not enjoy it. However, even though the anime is predictable like many said, it's really good at storytelling, which is something many forget. Yes, the plot isn't anything new, however, the way the plot is shown to you, how you get to know the... See full review

Lmao I can't believe people think the plot is weak (y'all clearly didn't understand the movie) - it's not the tightest plotline but the themes of moving forward, the complexities of love and the importance of self-growth is so evident.

If you're someone who dislikes detached, flat-affect, flat personality characters, you may not like it because that is the main character. So far, the plot seems to be all about the character development so liking the characters will be the main draw to it. The development is setting up to be her going from detached and apathetic to realizing that she does have relationships she values. The very first episode, we see her struggle to admit that she does care about someone despite her crying over them. In the story so far, she does things that show she cares but she is still struggling to admit or realize... See full review

Tokyo Revengers I remember when the anime was released in 2021 and had gathered quite a lot of hype around it. It was compared to other similar works like "Erased" and seemed to be rather popular. Well at least for the first few months, somewhere in the middle of it, people suddenly stopped seeing any of the anime on YouTube or anywhere else, it was like it was gone and there was no trace of the fans. After I started watching this anime, I understood why that was the case. Despite all expectations, this anime/manga is blessed with a very interesting concept, especially for thriller fans. Let’s start with the obvious, the anime revolves around Kakeru about saving Kakeru and we barely know a thing about him right until the end. The only thing that made this watchable was the relationship the 5 friends have and the way they interact with each other and yet again, we know absolutely nothing about any of them. Children Who Chase Lost Voices is from the same director who brought us The Garden of Lost Voices, Your Name and Weathering With You (I know he's produced other films, I'll get to them eventually). Here, he essentially took inspiration from Studio Ghibli. While this doesn't have QUITE the same emotional weight for me, you have to respect the guy's ambition. The world of Agartha is essentially the fantasy equivalent of our lost Aztec civilisation (one of its beastly denizens is even called Quetza Coatl) and in this film, essentially resides below our world. You can go there to celebrate and even reawaken... See full review

This anime is a bit of a letdown.  Frankly it had one of THE WORST and most dissatisfying endings I've EVER seen in an anime.  The last 2 or 3 episodes felt really rushed as if the direct the plot or half the script from them.  Visually, it looks pretty good and more or less decent characters but there are moments where the characters feel a bit carbon copied or lacking depth.  Sadly, the strongest, deepest, and most well developed characters are mostly the minor or support characters.  Such as the Biggs and Wedge clones that follow Lavi like diehard near stalker fanboys.  The... I adore the SpyxFamiy franchise and I've seen the original series multiple times. I watched this movie with my fiance and we both are of agreeance that it was nearly perfect. I went into this expecting it to be akin to SpyxFamily's usual set up and flow, that being leaning more into comedy with aspects of Loid/Yor's respective professions referenced/shown on the occasion. Instead, it was a rather an incredibly gorgeous stand alone film that I would highly recommend to just about anyone, not exclusive SpyxFamily fans. The film uses foreshadowing consistently throughout the film in such a way where the... See full review

Meehhh, I'm a sucker for romance animes but this anime was overrated for me. I LOVE the storyline however character development was trash, I expected a little more from the Female Lead in terms of character development. I gave it a 6 just because it's lighthearted and has a lot of cute moments, but it would've definetly been my favorite anime if there was just SOME sort of CD. Anyways, I do recommend this anime if your'e into predictable/romancey only type of shows.  Other than that the animation was great :)

Dog Signal is a slice of life anime about mostl this blond fluffy-haired main character ad his dog, plus his new uh boss and his fluffy dog. And their two friends. Every episode we see a new pair of a human and a dog, and it's really heartwarming and very wholesome.  Very informative too, about dogs in general. Absolutely recommended <3

And this main character who kills and revives by blinking and breathing 😂 officially shows the peak of the character's op. And the power difference between the main character Anous and the rest of the characters is so clear that it provides the comedy of the story. Personally, I liked Sasha much more than Misha. The quality of the movie is much lower than the rest of the series (especially compared to season 1). Kinda makes me not very hopeful for season 3. Much of the fun of the series comes from Rimuru getting stronger, and Rimuru getting that all so satisfying revenge. Much like Shield Hero, after these two concepts have been used up the show loses alot of it's initial entertainment. Still, I do hope Season 3 gets back some of that Season 1 gusto.

I've seen a fair share of anime in similar settings, maybe in similar mood, too, but none made the same impression on me, and I mean theme and impression. It's beautifully written, has beautiful graphics, maybe apart for some cgi scenes, I've seen some shows in the genre with better execution on that part, 'Grimgoire of Fantasy and Ash' to name one. In addition, the story and its setting are so simple and uninteresting that it seems like they could have been created in a single weekend. Its production values are also not the greatest. Everything the characters do is realistic, as it perfectly highlights the issues faced by the apocalypse from a universe where that idea has not been developed. Furthermore, the story does a great job at handling both the use of zombies and incorporating government responses, which creates well executed conflict. Overall it is below average but not unwatchable. My biggest gripe with it is a technical issue with the animation. In moments where you have stillness on screen there is always still movement, be it background movement, hair waving, enviornmental lighting, etc, this particular film does not implement that well. There are times when I thought my video stream had frozen but it was the lack of animation in the movie that is noticable and removes you from your immersion. SPOILER FREE REVIEW: Kanon is a supernatural harem drama, by Maeda Jun and KEY Studios, that exemplied the mid 2000s era of anime. The anime focuses on the protagonist Yuuichi, who comes back to "The City of Snow" that is based off the Moriguchi area of Osaka, to visit his cousin Nayuki and his aunt Akiko. He then comes into the realization that this town is a bit strange, witnessing supernatural events and discovering past relationships that he has no recollection of. The story follows multiple character arcs, similarly to Clannad, and effortlessly combines every story point for a... See full review

Its cute and I love characters where their real appearances are a mystery, BUT OH MY DAYS the only 'story' is hanzawas life becoming progressively worse and worse and him losing more testosterone each episode. The anime had no resolution or anything, it feels like they ran out of budget in writing so they had to end it with such a shitty and unfufilling ending where Hanzawa doesnt satisfy any of his objectives and works 9-5 over 5 days a week because all his co-workers are detectives and that stupid "Im sure someday I'll become a culprit!". A classic piece of iyashikei, Tamayura (Hal Film Maker, 2012) tells of the growth of a young girl whose fascination for photography comes from her father.  But Fuu's father has been dead for five years, and the family has returned to the town father loved to do his photo shoots in and about.  In the four episodes, this OVA will spend a little over an hour to develop a growing band of friends that support Fuu's quest to follow father in his line of work. I think this season was much stronger than the previous season... but I don't know, maybe this anime is not one of the types of anime that I personally can get a great feeling from. Of course, I have to admit, especially in terms of story, this season has progressed a lot, which I still like to continue, and it is clear that we are going to see significant improvements in this anime season by season. I know only one thing... Dazai was, is and will be extraordinary. Another well done season for this anime series.  Once again we follow the MC Gideon and his fiancee Rizlet in their attempts to lead a quiet life in the countryside.  As usual the plan does not go as well as expected due to the fact that Gideon has to deal with a new hero who is obsessed with his blessing which is dictating his actions.  This season does give you more information on the blessings everyone gets, and how they affect people.  You also get to see Ruti the true hero be able to become more accustomed to her personal blessing that allows her to override her hero's... I think it was a very good movie! It had an interesting story and we learned more about the past of the main character. Ironically, it doesn't matter how many times I say again that this relationship between Dazai and Chuya finally kills me with excitement and butterflies flying in my heart. Now I have the ability and potential to scream at the day of these two attractive characters and the bad relationship between them. I like them a lot. This anime wasn't any good. The story was boring and the characters came off as flat. Though the art style and animation quality was pretty good - though some of the designs (such as the Doorway Girl, Butterfly, Five of Spades) could have been done much better. And if you're going to secualize women...the least you can do is make them of legal age (or at least in their early to mid 40s). Though why did all the women in Wonderland wanted to get together with Miyuki - heck, they never even got together with Miyuki; they just flirted and attempted to seduce her (if barely). This anime is so very well done.  The MC Gideon is a kind hearted man who is devoted to those he befriends and his little sister.  Though he was not truly banished from the hero's party, it was just one of the members that was jealous of him, complicated with his own doubts about his own abilities.  After he left the hero's party as the guide, he lived a quiet life in a little town where he made friends and bumped into Rizlet a former comrade.  I believe the best part of this anime is the romance between Gideon and Rizlet.  It flows in a natural manner with a lot of affection... Each story is better than the last one (although episode 5 was the better one, in my opinion). They are long-ish episodes, but each of them grips you as soon as the episode starts so it feels like a normal '24 minute' anime. There are twists in this story and you don't really expect how each episode is going to end.  I would love another season which covers other fairytales like... See full review

Only deducting one point from the 10 because there is *some* material in the manga that adds a lot of nuance to the characters and story that is glossed over or cut entirely in the anime without adding in new material to supplement the losses. The music, animation, and voice acting add a lot to the magic so I would still recommend reading both the anime and the manga if you love this series. I LOVE YOU DUNGEON MESHI!!!!

I really liekd Tanya's character despite her not being as I had originaly thought she would be like. ***No Spoilers*** Some people have said it the best already; it lacks substance and is at its best within the fight scenes and action. It's pretty much the same thing I came up with when I finished reading the manwha, but to an even bigger degree when watching the anime. I'm not sure if it's because it's my second time with the story or if it's just more pronounced with the anime. I guess its best arcs are coming up in the next season, so it should hit its peak then, and we will see how it goes. I just hope that they fix the ending, as I was not a fan of the last 1/3rd of the manwha. 8/10 - Still fun, but... See full review

***No Spoilers*** This gave me the gyaru fix I needed. Even more so because it has the type of gyaru that I love the most—super nice, bubbly, energetic, and a bit flirty—but still gets embarrassed easily. Fuyuki was perfect, and she was the MC, so it makes it even better. Even past the gyaru angle It’s a nice little romance story with some laughs. It also has the bonus of being in Hokkaido, which you don’t get to see much of in other anime. It's definitely worth a watch if you like gyaru, maybe a little less if you don’t. 7/10

Honetly, coming from someone that has watched anime for over 10 years this is a very good anime with a good story line. The story really grips you in the first episode. It definetly can be a little cheesy but I think it adds to the main theme of the show. They're children so of course they're going to act like it. I think this type of show where they arent being exploited and giving fan service is amazing. They do an amazing job at portraying the underlying tone of the story while also giving all of the characters their own screen time without it feeling like a filler episode or as some would call... I liked this anime because it was a bit different for me, so that made it more enjoyable.  This anime is a bit on the dark and gloomy side, but it works well for the story.  The two main characters are a team that are unique in their interactions with each other.  One seems to be hostile all the time while the other is polite.  The primary drive for this anime is that of witches killing and cursing those they interact with for the most part.  You follow the two MC's on their journey to find the witch that cursed Guideau while they do jobs for the organization they are... This anime is truly exceptional. From the first episode, I was hooked and it's a shame that it's not longer. The story follows Kousei, a pianist who rediscovers his passion through his love for Kaori. I found myself glued to my laptop screen for hours on end, eagerly anticipating each new episode. Even though I'm not a piano enthusiast, the beauty of this story still resonated with me on a deep level. I felt a strong connection to Kousei and Kaori as they navigated the complexities of life and love. Despite Tsubaki's jealousy sometimes causing frustration, I found Kousei's character and personality to be... See full review

It's labelled a side story aka a filler arch. It reeks of it. If you've watched filler archs, I think you know what I mean. It lacks drive, energy and is forgettable. The characters you're already familiar with feel like propped up cardboard cutouts of themselves. This arch is connected to the movie released the year before Visions of Coleus. And like the movie, this one also has too little time to introduce all the new characters and the new location. Ironically, it also feels stretched time-wise, though not as much as the movie. Basically if feels like it has very little to tell you in too much time... See full review

The problem with a series vs a movie in a nutshell. This movie could have built upon already existing characters and locations introduced in this series to make it easier for viewers to care. It didn't, because the movie wanted to fit everything and you know how that one goes.. Instead, they introduce a new protagonist AND a whole bloody kingdom. Imagine making the viewer care about those two aspects within a movie's length. And the characters and locations you know and love is now second fiddle. It's the worst of both worlds! Lose-lose! I have mixed feelings about this movie. Although the concept of the story is beautiful and touching, I feel that the movie didn't live up to its potential, and it left me wanting more. The movie has received positive feedback for its important message on bullying, which sheds light on the issue and provides a different perspective. However, I found the movie to be boring, and I feel that the main character, Shoya, held back too much. The love story in the movie didn't resonate with me, and I felt that Shoya's motivations for reconnecting with Shouko were more about resolving his own issues than about... See full review

This anime is what I call filler anime.  If you have nothing you really want to watch or rewatch, then this is a pretty good filler anime.  The MC and those around him for the most part appear to be pretty narrow-minded and only focused on their own personal desires/goals.  I would say there is no character development in this anime, it is focused on the games the characters play and not on personal growth.  I would surmise that people would probably be more attached to the NPC's in the game more so than the actual player characters themselves.  There is a lot of action in this... What took me so long to pick this up? Resultantly, in a new world, he is ostracised and misunderstood by humans more than once. But, goddamn, is our MC overpowered? He sure is! Finally gave it a go and all I can say is that this is garbage harem crap in the guise of a sci-fi and so-called thought provoking show. I hate when I'm lied to and manipulated like this. The show kept up the facade for a rather long time before exposing its true nature and it was interesting for a bit, but they did nothing with those promising aspects, instead falling into what are now lame, boring and overdone cliches. And that would be better move imo because not much really happens here, it's literally just first act of the whole movie, but it is actually a full movie. I like OVAs when they seem to be done in the spirit of fun.  With Yowamushi Pedal: Special Ride (TMS Entertainment, 2013), it is the only moment that the franchise could do anything 'for fun.'  Created early in the YP story of bicycle racing, the Inter-High is still on the horizon.  The dead serious game of out-competing other schools’ athletic programs is developing.  But Onoda is still riding the hopes of creating an anime club, and team captain Kinjou must get the rookie first-years in line. Think of this OVA as the delicate link between sempai and kohai.  In this case... See full review

The Genshiken OVA (Ajia-do, 2006-07), which spanned the time between the first and second seasons, is perhaps one of the more intelligent Original Version Animations created for two reasons.  First, the established characters demonstrate growth in maturity in a club which doesn't demand much in the area of maturity, particularly since the Society for the Study of Modern Visual Culture has changed from a consumer stance to a productive ideal.  This to counter the accusation that Genshiken is a useless club.  Second, there is a need to introduce new characters and create new tensions in a... Come on... For example, in the first episode, when the intro part was played, I thought this story was similar to Sleeping Beauty. If only there was a small hint of it. This is a show where the directing is often quite beautiful, but the story is vacant and empty. It feels like an empty product - without a message or development it really wants to impart to its audience. We've all seen it - a show that promises some sort of story and then waits until near the end to actually start delivering. That's what Bucchigiri does. It so transparently feels like a waste of time, with reused gags every episode that don't put any sort of new spin on them. Probably the worst and most contentious element is the main character. She will probably feel guilty about choosing herself, but she made her decision. Her love was more important to her than if it rains or not. The animation is beautiful, and the story is another one of best romance animes. If you don't like it that's fine, but it was well written and deserves all the recognition it's getting.

This OVA episode is cute and provides some interesting levity to the ending, while also hinting at the idea that one of the girls is going to end up being the 'winner' in this harem. However, it not only doesn't do anything to resolve some of the outstanding issues I talked about in my review of the original, it even lampshades a few of them by briefly reminding us that they happened without actually addressing them. As is the case with a lot of Light-Novel-adaptation plots, this show boasts a relatively unique and interesting premise that manages to capture interest in the first chapter, but then flounders with trying to resolve that premise. I will give it creidt where credit is due; it actually managed to resolve the mystery instead of aimlessly meandering like most other LN-adaptation plots, and it was actually moderately engaging beyond just the first episode. It was confusing from where they started the anime because it has nothing to do with season 1 at all, let alone a continuation of story. However the animation, sound, and characters were still good, no problems with that. Overall I don't recommend this anime at all after watching the first season.

honestly im a reverse harem holic but i actually enjoyed it, it is very similar to my next life as a villainess as in the villainess aspect and how DAMN DENSE SHE IS but she is badass and strong i love the romantic relationship between her and patrick (grey head guy) but the pink hair girl is a pain in the ass and the other three men in the anime. other than that i overall loved it i wished it was a reverse harem but as a holic it was NOT half bad SO GIVE IT A GO🥹👍

the idea and topic is interesting (which is why I started watching this) but the animation is ATROCIOUS I don't think I've seen worse and it's hard to pay attention to anything else. The dialogue and story also suck :(  don't watch it, and don't waste a part of your life on this "anime".

A complex yet simple story about freindship, adventure, discovery that is told excellently. A few times the pacing is a bit slow but this might be intentional and works once you accept it. It is filled with lots of likeable characters that get developed as the series progresses. Flashbacks are finally usuad to support the storytelling not to disturp it, thank you makers. The soundtrack is lovly underlying the way the story is told with a calm slower pace almost reflecting the MC's being. I am really looking forward to the adventures that wait in season 2.

If you can stomache a clumsy and at times a bit shallow story but feel that some Ecchi can make up for it this might be a enjoyable anime for you. I watched the uncensored English version which also just hints most of the time. It could have been a bit more explicit for my taste if they bother to make a censored and an uncensored version.

This is an anime that that could have been so much better if it had not been sliced, paced and released the way it was.
It has a good story, good characters and plesent animation, yet I have trouble actually finishing it. The reasons are that the episodes have been sliced up badly, barely anything happens in some of the episodes. This is made worse by slow pacing and unnecessary cliffhangers. On top the release (English) felt unsteady with several breaks.  I think this easily could have been a high 8 if it had been made into less episodes with the storytelling slightly more streamlined and well... This is a pretty pleasant anime except for the main MC.  Tsubasa the main MC is a pathological liar and also spineless which makes me greatly dislike the character.  In almost every episode he lies which shows that he is a self serving dishonest person.  I just hoped that all the girls would realize he is the perpetual liar and have nothing to do with him.  I guess this anime pushes the idea it is alright to lie and you should get rewarded for it.  All the characters seem to be good people and look out for each other, except Tsubasa who uses people.  His attraction to woman is... Y'all. This shows technically a show where the MC is OP there are so many plot holes, but I'm not gonna spoil it and if you're reading this for the romance, you see on any platform it's a lie, romance or love in the show is technically jail is basically just pervy/abuser/sexual assault/grape people overuse their abilities to get what they want(technically half of the Love stories) also, what's relevant is how the story just kept coming back-and-forth with back stories like I understand. Their back stories are sad but like some of them were just unnecessary because it looks weird some of the characters... See full review

Apothecary was an anime to look out for when it began airing, and I would have to say its lived up to its expectations. Being basically House MD combined with that of a historical Chinese court drama is such a delightful premise that someone like me who enjoys both was bound to enjoy.

Maomao aside, who is an excellent female protagonist, and Jinshi who is an intriguing foil to her, the characters all have their little spotlights on them. Virtually no one is unimportant. Whether its a concubine, officer, or a servant, everyone has their stories to tell. Apothecary is a series that both feels mundane... See full review

CASTLEVANIA: SEASON 4 --- 15/04/24  🔴 (Low) 8/10 Castlevania's 4th season is amazing... but also conflicting. This season in particular seems to have two different sides. On one hand, it is a fluently brilliant finale that still has loads to offer, even in the final stretch, with beautiful animation and action choreography that entertains and an interesting cast of characters that invites conversation on the topics of human ethics, represented by the conflict our protagonists face against the creatures of the night. The latest Pretty Cure movie event, Precure All-Star Movie F (Toei Animation, 2023) ranks up with the All-Star Movies after the New Stage trio, definitely after Haru no Carnival (2015).  Yes, all the Precure possibly were included in this latest movie, but you had to look fast or hit that pause button again and again and again. But we are engaged in the problem of dealing with 77 Pretty Cure.  Or was it 78? I don't know why so many people disliked this show. To be fair, there were a few plot points which weren't fully explored/explained, but other than that it was cute and enjoyable. The Foolish Angel is a light-hearted romp which pokes fun at romantic cliches while also containing enough sweet moments to make you root for the main couple. If you're a rom com fan, I suggest checking it out. It may not be the best thing you've ever seen, but it is worth a watch.

HUH??? like come on lets not normalise that and he was kinda pushy idk. BUT ANYWAYS mei, aiko and asami ONTOP, i love them. but yeah the story didn't have any depth to it and just had unnecessary drama in my opinion. ik i kinda ranted but it was honestly not that bad it was okay, i wouldn't really go out of my way to watch it tho.

But in all the episodes there were only death , no progress at all , I was expecting the story go take turn the next episode but I was disappointed again and again and after 8 episodes (rounding off) I stalled the anime . Yet the story is a good start , and the ways deaths were happening was also mysterious . I would suggest you if you have patience then watch the anime .

This isn't an Isekai, so how did that happen? She then goes and names it the same way, which is to be expected at that point.

The professor also named the thing he created (related to the aforementioned structure) after the Japanese name for it, even though his culture would have definitely called it something else. This is one of the most fast paced anime I have watched.  The story starts out with a bang and just keeps going to the very end.  The focus of this anime is the MC who is considered the weakest of the weak, but after a death defying experience he reawakens to the abilities to become the best if he works on his abilities and levels up.  The story is pretty straight forward and good, but what makes this anime stand out is all the action scenes, one after another, and not the cookie cutter type.  There is a lot of variety of what he does to level himself up, not just rinse and repeat. ... I'm truly enthralled with this story. This anime has grown well in the time it has been running. Watching the characters mature and age, while also becoming more epic on a grander scale is cathartic. It's quite shonen indeed.  This particular season had something the others didn't: truly thought provoking ideals. The whole plot point surrounding Bi Hei was terrifyingly human. I did not expect that kind of narative in this kind of anime. And upon seeing it as such, I admit I liked being made to think about the various implications and consequences of our own actions as people- what we all do to... See full review

Contrary to the soulless, spineless and talentless self-insert losers we usually get, this anime’s protagonist has a very assertive personality (of a shameless chuunibyou, admittedly), and is also genuinely caring and affectionate with his harem, making the girls’ attraction to him believable. This is a well done anime that follows the MC Frieren as she goes on a journey to understand humankind better while remembering her time with the hero's party on their 10 year adventure that leads to the defeat of the Demon King.  This anime spends a lot of time using flashbacks from Frieren's memories to link the past to the present in this anime.  The story is built very well so that you can understand all the characters perspectives at the same time spending a lot of time letting the viewer enjoy the interactions as they get to know each other and bond with each other over their journey. ... This anime has a very unique and well built up world, having adopted a reverse isekai plot line. The MC has a lot of character development, and the fact that he struggles to become stronger makes him a very compelling character. Even with an animation style that may seem lacking, the fight scenes are still bery easy to follow and understand, and are still as gripping as any other.

I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World and Became Unrivaled in The Real World, Too

The animation is amazing, really drew me in, but the plot is just so bad and dry. The world they've built has so much potential to be good, but the story just fails miserably. Mc's character development was a bit too fast that you don't even get to enjoy it, and after he becames so broken in pretty much the first episode, nothing happens.

Sigh Idk. If I was a bit younger and stupider I would've enjoyed this anime - maybe.  The classic evil villain who shows up every episode and kicks their butts and leaves them crying; and in the last episode, the villain is defeated by a special staff that this random old man had in his possession. The only thing that was different but super annoying was that the villain was possessing their best-friend and older-brother. As such, he gaslights and guilt trips and emotional blackmails and does all this psychological warfare with his face and voice. Idk if I fast-forwarded it a lot or I missed... See full review

Finally got around to watching this and in this case, that was a good thing. Because holy S**T is this one a ride and one I needed to experience right now. When it starts out, you'd be forgiven for thinking it'd be something cutesy and light-hearted and initially you'd be right. But only a few episodes in do you realise that you're dead wrong and that this is one of the most dark, twisted and harrowing things you'll ever watch in your life. And like I said earlier, I believe that's a good thing. This is one show that you'll stay hooked on to until the very end and one you won't easily forget. And that's... See full review

The Witch and the Beast

Season One of Yokohama Animation Laboratory’s dark fantasy ends pretty abruptly at episode twelve leaving the audience wanting more. The adaptation of Kousuke Satake’s manga (2017 – 2022) is sharp, slick and very sexy. Set in an alternative reality it features main characters Ashaf & Guideau who are working for the Order of Magical Resonance. Their mission is to track down and destroy rogue witches. Ashaf carries with him a large coffin within which he keeps the duo’s secret weapon. Guideau is the reluctant hero as she has been cursed by a witch and only puts up with Ashaf and... Studio Hibari’s adaptation of Bow Ditama’s ecchi-sci-fi-comedy manga is as equally brilliant as it silly. It is just one of those shows you expect to hate but end up loving. Although only fifteen years old the current Crunchyroll version is not only censored but only available in old-fashioned TV aspect-ratio format. This makes it look more dated than it actually is. In all other aspects it looks pretty contemporary and is thoroughly good entertainment. The show is about a parallel world of high technology from which our world is receiving regular (but invisible) visitors. Those visitors are the... See full review

This is one of the best military space anime out there.  It takes the time and effort to build up the two opposing MCs and their respective pasts while at the same time doing world building by giving viewers an understanding of the two opposing powers at war.  The Free alliance is a good example of today with politicians in the west using the Ukraine to distract the public from high inflation, massive debt, and those using the war to get rich or stay in power while sacrificing a country and its people in a war that could never have been won.  Already hundreds of thousands dead in a... I don't really know why I disliked this so much. I liked the manga well enough, I was even looking forward to watching this anime. It's just something about the MC in the anime, maybe her voice, maybe her mannerisms, either way she was just so annoying!

Delicious in Dungeon

Anything that features cooking and food always attracts so this show was right up my alley. Side note, the food they are preparing do not have the typical ingredients but all ingredient-adjacent to real life food for example, an insect type looking lobster is cooked as such, and another snake-headed chicken is roasted like a chicken.  One of the unique food items they did were the jewel bugs which they made kebabs/crispy on a stick type of food.  We had those mollusk type monsters turned ala oysters.  They all became very delicious.  As we go to each episode, I am looking forward... Since there are no reviews, I'll add something. This is a review of only the first episode, so please understand that this isn't a fair review.  This appears to be a sequel of the original Garo animation, but with all new characters, an unknown time skip, and somehow they changed continents. Everything is now Feudal Japan themed (which is fine, but unexplained).  You are dropped in the middle of a story that, frankly, isn't all that interesting. I don't feel the need to watch more, especially after how there's no explanation for how the new Garo unlocks the ring. There's just no wieght behind... See full review

This is a hard one. For starters I will say that I strongly suggest everyone watch this, so dont get me wrong when I write something negative!
Inuyashiki is not an anime for children or teenagers. You have to be a certain age to understand the motivations of the characters.
Ill start with some negatives. The animation: doesnt look bad, but its very noticeable when they swap to full computer generated animation an like almost always, it doesnt look good. The melodrama is overplayed in certain scenes (feels like a typical Oscar-bait movie sometimes). The story is simple and mostly... See full review

My Instant Death Ability Is Overpowered

Apr 11, 2024

The bulk of anime stemming from light novels are so derivative, they are compelled to elongate their titles to such an extent that they substitute as the pitch of the premise. This particular instance fails to distinguish itself even in this regard, for its premise has been played out to death (isekai with an mc that has broken powers), and its execution leaves nothing to be desired.

So this isekai, one of the ten isekai airing in the same season (remember the time when even two felt excessive?) attempts to grab you through anime references and a genre savvy protagonist. Essentially, it openly... See full review

Mr. Villain's Day Off

This anime is a very cosy and slow story about the daily life of a"typical villain" focusing on his days off. The contrast between his work/villain personnality and his days off personnaily is very funny and adorable to watch. There is no real story but still we learn a bit more about the characters every episode. Very chill, would recommand 100% for a nice and cosy late afternoon watch, by yourelf or with a friend.

The story line itself has a fluffy aspect to it, but has a deep meaningful side to the story, which progresses as the characters develop. and that was shown awesomely throughout the entire show. Idk if it's the mood I was in but i watched every dub ep in one sitting. I just genuinely enjoyed every ep and now i'm waiting for the dub finish, i agree with others on how the female MC feels a dime a dozen but every other character's originality makes up for it. I literally never leave any reviews but i feel this anime is getting a lot of hate for little reason, the "sexual assult" Andy did to fuuko is wayyyyyy less of a problem than people make it out to be. With Fuuko's negator power it completely makes sense as to why the "sexual assult" is here. While Andy could have said/did... See full review

This was a very pleasant anime, that is kind to its core.  I enjoyed watching this even though I usually avoid subbed content in favor of dubbed.  The characters of this anime are all kind and considerate people, so when it comes to morals this anime is a 10 out of 10.  What I liked about the anime was the music, it is all sweet and tender for any age but I think would be best for the young at heart.  This story is pretty straight forward with the young struggling artist who loses her contract but goes a different route through the sports competition to get her music out to the public...
