Kemono Friends

Kemono Friends is a CG anime that aired back in Winter 2017 and turned out to be the sleeper hit of the season but, was it really that good or it just succeeded for some unforeseeable reason? The show is about Bag-chan, a little girl who’s lost in the middle of a giant park and surrounded by anthropomorphic animals. There she meets Serval and then the duo starts an adventure to the library to learn what animal she’s supposed to be. It’s kinda unclear what’s the target audience of this show. On one hand this is a cute animal girls doing cute things show, but on the other it airs... See full review

There was defiantly a lot of hype around this movie, and I do think it’s well deserved. Regardless of how much popularity “Your Name” received I tried to go into it without knowing much, especially in regards to the storyline. I must say that every aspect of this film was well done. I was impressed with the storyline and the way it was written and how certain things are revealed as the story progresses forward. It had a few jaw dropping moments to it. I also fell in love with soundtrack to the movie (Instantly bought it off iTunes after I got home from the theatre lol) I do appreciate a... See full review

You know what this anime is?It's a breath of fresh air for a dead-inside,stagnant anime industry that keeps playing it safe and mass producing the same unimaginative stuff over and over.I love also the fact that unlike other parody animes this actually IS a parody and it shows every step of the way.It mocks everything and everyone and it does it splendidly Don't come here looking for a well thought of story to blow your mind,no!What you get here is a well thought of assault of toilet humour and a new approach to the image of women.Cause the whole fucking world seems to think of women as weak,vulgar... "The Only Way To Save This Family Is For Them To Save The World" The Daichis is one of those series that is so obscure and easy to overlook despite the fact it even got licensed and fully dubbed into English you would be forgiven for not having heard of it. It was this obscurity and ultimately curiosity that led me to watching the show.  So airing in 2001 and animated by Group TAC The Daichis is a series about a family teetering on the edge of oblivion. We have the obese computer obsessed Father Mamoru, the equally work... See full review

Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid

A very cute themed comedy in the form of a daily life anime. There is no story beyond a bit of background on Tohru's home world. The dialogue is entertaining though and the anime gives off a sense of warmth and happiness, along with plenty of humor. What seperates this from other anime is of course the dragon aspect of it. Several of the main characters are dragons, although only one of them uses the form several times, and the rest almost never. The dragons in their human forms have to learn to adapt and co-exist with humans. The first episode starts off a bit slow and curious, but it really picks up... See full review

ReLIFE

ReLIFE is an exceptional portrayal of situations that people come across in their everyday life. Whilst it may seem dull at first, or that some of the arcs (Tamarai Honoka's for example) may take some time to complete, the story is definitely worth watching in its entirety. In regards to the story, one could agree that it is almost a direct translation from the webcomic/ manga (use appropriate term as you see fit.) As mentioned in the introduction, it contains many plots devices that one comes across through the duration of their life, thus making it easy to relate to the characters. This is a key point... Before I start this review, I just want to say that Nanbaka is probably one of my favorite shows that I've ever watched, and I've enjoyed it immensely. I would love nothing more than to give it a 9/10 or 10/10, just because of my personal tastes. But that's not reasonable, so I'm going to be accurate in my review, and not go easy on this show. Nanbaka does have its flaws, which I was able to overlook, but you might not be able to do the same. Note: I'll try to keep this review as spoiler-free as possible, but there may be some spoilers. Also, this is pretty much a review for both the first and second... See full review

Tales of Zestiria: The X (2017)

WolfAngelus's avatar
Apr 15, 2017

This season surprisingly takes a detour from following the flow of the story from the game and its story in general. If anything, this season is even better than the game as things that seemed simple at the surface all have much more depth and complexity. The first 6 episodes dive deeply into Rose and a lot of her story and her background. The events still match up with the game to some extent, but this is more of a in depth look at what happened during that timeframe. The start of it may be a bit slow, but it builds a really important connection with the choices Rose makes and how she fits into... See full review

Right, it's confession time for me. If you have been reading my reviews than you may have noticed that I tend to rip the anime a new one. There is a reason for this though and it has to do with the fact that I can't turn my brain off when watching anime. I can't ignore the stupid shown in the anime and this is a problem as most anime are very stupid indeed. In this case I'm not talking about a 90 pound girl catching a multi-ton cruise missile and throwing it back. Yes, it is stupid but it is a stupid that I'll allow. It's anime. Things like this are normal here and I'm pretty much fine with it. It annoys... See full review

Brothers Conflict

Apr 14, 2017

It's a mildly interesting anime with a very light plot. The anime focuses on the story and development of each of the brother's personality and affection for the female protagonist. Although i did say "development", you shouldn't really expect a lot of character development given that it is a 12episode series and 13 brothers. You mainly get 1 episode explanation for each character, that's why i feel like there wasn't much time to actually put thought into the plot itself. I'm surprised that i was actually able to finish the whole series and was not apalled by the storyline since i don't like... See full review

Something I think often gets lost when watching anime are its themes after all when you sit down to watch a show you're looking for entertainment. Whether it be mind high schoolers saving the world with the power of friendship or psychological brain numbing sh*t you're there for a purpose, to be entertained. Most shows only goal is to fulfil that purpose, that and make tons of cash. If it succeeds in doing so great, we set out with a goal in mind and accomplished it case closed right? This will be more for those that understand the online PC gaming world, specifically of the MMO variety. Not understanding this environment might make it hard to enjoy the references, themes, and understand this world properly. There isn't much of a story, it is simply a group of students who simply play together as a guild, and as a club. About 40% of the time takes place as the characters being in the game itself doing MMO, and the other 60% involves thier interactions in real life. While the original goal was to help one of the girls differentiate between real life and game life, it never ends... See full review

So this will be a very late review for Another. Usually, when I watch an anime and I really don't like it, I just move on. But this is a whole different level. First watching it, it wasn't that interesting but from the reviews I'd seen I was guessing it would get better or something. But let me let you in on a little bit of my thought process when attempting to enjoy this anime. "Why the hell should I care?" Seriously! I loved this anime through and throughl; my only complaint: the ending! Once you reach the final few episodes, or hell, even in the beginning if you really look at it, the ending is pretty predictable. But it's also so frustrating!! I'm not going to spoil it, if you want to know it just watch the show, but I kind of hate the way it was played out more than anything. The ending itself was frustrating because it was [spoiler alert?] somewhat unconventional in comparison to what we normally get with these sorts of shows. In many ways this movie reminded me of the Digimon movie (cyperspace, hacking, this affecting real life, having to fight in cyberspace, that one threat near the end), but I didn't enjoy it any less because of that. If anything, it was cool to see the way this movie went about it differently. All of the characters were fun, and I loved the situation Kenji found himself in with Natsuki. It was both cute and hilarious, and I love how much Natsuki's family embraced him. The little kids were quite entertaining. I loved the online world. Rage of Bahamut: Genesis

Good fantasy anime are hard to come by thanks to the prevalence of light novel adaptations taking the focus from serious fantasy to comedic or spoof-y attempts at the genre. Rage of Bahamut: Genesis is a pretty good fantasy series with a lot of good ideas and interesting characters that unravels a little as it goes along due to episode limitations and probably budget constraints. Story Favaro is a bounty hunter, liar, and prankster who meets the dashing Amira, a young lady in need of accompaniment to the town of Helheim. Of course, she's no ordinary girl and the two wind up embroiled in a huge conspiracy... See full review

Non-Spoiler Review: Ok based on the first 2 episodes, this is going to be either a "love it or hate it" anime. I can understand why some people might find this show boring because the MC's don't really say all that much and there isn't much action to go around. However, as someone who really like quiet characters and relates to shyness on a personal level, I love this show sofar. Watch this show if you want a relaxing 24 minutes taken out of your day! I give the story score an 8 for now just because it can go either way but is really enjoyable sofar.

Great for its visuals, music, many cute characters, action, and for incorporating different magic elements into the action. While I loved what was presented throughout, there are some significant story bits missing. There should have been 6-12 more episodes to cover such content. The story is simple enough, people with elemental abilities attending a school. The ultimate goal is these blade dance tournaments. Considering that is part of the anime name, and the main goal of a few of the main characters is to win this tournament, we never are actually shown this tournament or the results. This is absolutely hilarious, and also a little heartwarming. Naruto has finally fulfilled his dream, and is becoming Hokage. The hard part is getting to the ceremony itself. It's still so weird to see everyone grown up and with kids, but I absolutely loved seeing the dynamics of Naruto's family. This is my first glimpse of that, and now I'm excited to watch everything related to Boruto, whereas before I was unsure if I was going to like it. To me, this felt like an average anime with a few moments of real heart. Part of this was the length of this show, I think. It should have been twenty-six episodes, as that would have given more time to learning character backstories and allowing individual characters to shine. Instead, only a couple of characters are given anything in-depth--which left me feeling a little cheated during the last two episodes, for spoiler reasons I won't go into. I really enjoyed the concepts behind this show, and I wish some of them had been explored a little more. Again, that comes to lack of time. For the characters... See full review

Your Name has become one of the most successful anime movies that has come out. The movie itself has done better than any ghibli movie made including Spirited Away and yet  has managed not to actually be as big as it at the same time. The reason behind this is Spirited Away was very creative and mystical, nothing like it could have been seen from the west, but Your Name is different its a story that could be made here and needs to have a closer look to actually see what it truly offers. Let's start by getting the tags right, this isn't a comedy, or it surely doesn't seem funny. There isn't much to say about this anime in general though. The first 8 episodes feel very similar and boring, each has some school/daily life, then the 2nd half of each episode is nudity combined with combat. While I like ecchi material, the chests of all girls but 1 are oversized and unattractive (not sure why the artists think guys like this stuff). At first, I was put off by the title, "Food Wars" and assumed it would be something like "Ben-To". But I came to see an excerpt, and it disproved me. Food Wars can perhaps be described as "Yakitate", but with a cooking theme, with ecchi gags (Yakitate used puns as a running joke). In fact, Yakitate examiner Kuroganagi's voice actor has a role in Food Wars too, and the tasting re-ak-shuns are likewise over-the-top, making fun of e.g. Sailor Moon/Tokusatsu (that's in ep11). So based on first Impressions I have to say this is fairly mediocre, I never expected much from a battle highschool anime to begin with, but the synopsis seemed like it would be above average. If you like character driven shows I wouldn't recommend this. All of the female cast are just mirrored personalities you've probably seen 100 times before in any other anime. So with that I was betting the fighting to be it's strong point, but the animation gives it a bit of a handicap unfortunately. A satirical battle anime. (I assume you read the summary)

The first couple of episodes are a little rough to sit through, but eventually it is more engaging (less fighting, more interaction). The thing that kept me watching past the first 2 episodes was the glimpse of Saitama's (the main character) origin, and that people kept saying good things about it.

It's worth a few laughs, but don't expect a deep story.

Going by the factors listed on this site, it's average not too bad. However, it is really unenjoyable regardless of this. The main character is terrible. She has a poor set of values, morals, and motivations. Overall, simply uninteresting. Moreover, the story is without attraction despite the overall premise being decent. Episode to Episode, pacing is poor and neither provides epic battles, unique stories, or meaningful advancement in the overarching plot. They expose the main... See full review

ef - a tale of melodies: Prologue

While the creators still don’t understand the meaning of the word “Prologue” at least they came much closer this time than they did for the first series. Story - 3/10 Much like the first “Prologue” this is more or less a single clip paired with a music video, trying to hype up the second season. This time around they did actually pick a scene that makes you want to know what direction the series is taking, as it focuses mainly on Yuuko Amamiya and a familiar looking, but unnamed male. Animation - 4/10 See Series Review. Sound - 5/10 The Japanese voice... See full review

This series is.... i dont know. I liked the beginning. I really did. MC is a badass - I love that! But these girl's stories.. they're sad. But Amane's story... thats just scary. I didn't need the scene of what the teacher and class president were doing. Especially when they're resorting to cannibalism to survive. I actually felt sick after watching that episode. Animation was just fine. Characters were a little basic but gosh, were they fucked up for the sake of making this a show.

KonoSuba – God’s blessing on this wonderful world!! 2

This show is constantly making me laugh my ass off. There is literally never a dull moment in this series.  The story is pretty good. Its your typical dude stuck in a world he doesnt belong in but becomes a bada- wait... he isnt a badass. He's barely making it in this world, and i love the fun it brings with our protagonist and his adventurer friends.  Animation is really nice. Its simple and it works perfectly with a comedy. OPs are great. No complaints about the character's voice acting. Characters are unique and fun. Repeating myself alot, because thats what this series is. Fun and... See full review

I am a HUGE fan of this movie. I have seen it twice online, and going to go see it in theaters this week sometime.  I absolutely loved everything about it. Not a single thing could have been better. Definitely going to buy this to have my own copy.  Crying like a bitch for the win

Chaos;Child

Another interesting entry in the chaos; series adapted from VN. It retains some of the same problems as chaos;head. Namely that it has a very interesting premise and story but doesn't seem to have the time (budget) to capitalize on it. There's problems with the way characters are used like being dragged around for a bit of fluff or a seemingly main character having no lines and no real personality. TL;DR Interesting story, interesting characters used in a poor way all trying to be crammed into too small a timeframe. Found it enjoyable but with problems.

Kuzu No Honkai is an indescribable anime. It can feel almost sickeningly realistic, nearly gritty at times. The animation is beyond beautiful and stylish. Symbolism is used frequently to display emotion. This anime is truly beautiful. It has the perfectly bittersweet ending that leaves you satisfied and wanting more. The cast of characters are all developed and fleshed out people that do realistic things that you could actually see that character doing, at least except for one character, but to avoid spoilers I will just say I didn't enjoy the child-hood friend character. The 2 main characters are relatable... See full review

When I first watched this anime, I didn't understand it so I basically gave up watching. Afterwards I seeked out to play the game (Which is AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL if you ask me) then returned to watch it again is when I understood what it was about. So if you're going to watch an anime that potrays an otome game like this, I suggest playing the game firsthand.

This is one of my favorite anime.  The characters are well developed and the plots progress at a nice pace. The creator came up with a very interesting magic system and keeps the rules of the world consistent throughout.  This is an anime with an overpowered protagonist, but I think even people who don't enjoy that genre may find the show worth watching.  This series also fleshes out the backstories for secondary characters really well and the entire cast seems to grow.  The protagonist is -for lack of a better word- cool, but he differs from many other "cool" protagonists... First Impressions Considering my artwork is a recolored version of one of the characters, you can probably assume that I enjoyed the show. And, that's fairly right. The show is something I can certainly call 'Good', even if it isn't ground breaking in any aspects. It's simply fun to watch, and can get a few laughs out of you. Which, to me, is perfectly great. I wouldn't say it has any glaring flaws, just a few minor imperfections that are there, but don't really matter too much in the long run. Story This show doesn't really run off of a running plotline, and it's more like one... See full review
