How I Review Anime:
There's been a lot of debate about my scores and my general tone in my reviews. I look at each anime I watch as objectively as possible. In reviewing an anime, I'll pick out flaws as much as I can because it gives a reader an idea of what to expect. My final rating takes into account my enjoyment of the series as well as some of the flaws that took away from the enjoyment. In other words, the final score is always based on how much I enjoyed the series. It's not based on the animation, the characters, or the story. It's based on whether or not I found the series worthy of it's score based on my feelings watching it.
I will also never review an anime I haven't finished. If I dropped it, I refuse to review it. One should see the entire package before complaining about it thoroughly. I'll never write a Sword Art Online review, despite having seen half of it, because I don't know if there are any redeeming factors in the second act that make up for the lackluster first act.
10-This score will never be given to anything because nothing is perfect.
9-Masterful. Very few issues and maximum enjoyment.
8-Great. This is an anime that contains flaws but still manages to be entertaining.
7-Above Average. This is the score I tend to give most series. It has many flaws but is enjoyable in some way.
6-Average. It just...exists. Anime around here don't really exhibit any stand out qualities.
5-Meh. Meh is worse than average because it's an average where I don't care. Something completely stagnant.
4-Poor. This is an anime with very little to offer.
3-Bad. I rarely review below a 3 because any anime that bad I usually drop, in which case I will not review it. Anime in the 3 range exhibit no redeeming qualities, though are sometimes so bad they're laughably good (School Days).
2-Terrible. An anime so bad it should be avoided at all costs.
1-Spawn of Satan. An anime that's as putrid and reprehensible as they come.
Some anime I have rated fairly low that I enjoy are Chuunibyou, Date A Live, Attack on Titan, and Tenchi Muyo. One of my favorite movies ever is Commando, with Arnold Schwarzenegger. I'd rate it a 4 based on how crappy it is, but damn is it enjoyable. You can enjoy bad things, you know?
