Holo is one of the most interesting characters in anime. While she may be a god, she doesn’t really like to think of herself as such and, truthfully, comes across as very human in emotional situations. She is cunning, as is the nature of the wolf, but her sarcastic, borderline asshole attitude, always brings a smile to the face. She knows how to manipulate and believes herself above humans, but when she meets Lawrence she finds that the duo are really on equal terms. Her growing dependence and love for Lawrence makes for one of the best romances in anime and light novels (though the light novels stretch the romance to the near breaking point, I don’t know how many times I’ve sighed at how much of a cocktease they are). Every time she cries, every time she brings up the past, it’s a meaningful exposition or build-up of her character. She does have a lot of moments of fan service, though I never found them to be as annoying as I usually find these sort of things. It’s never a joke, though for some the nudity could be a little unnecessary. Nevertheless, this cunning, adorable, and absolutely loveable wise wolf from Yoitsu is one of my favorite female anime characters.
Which version of Holo is the best? The anime, manga, or light novel?
This is a good question to consider, and by best this means as far as how cute she is in the pictures. The manga and anime do not stray far from the light novels, so I can’t say that Holo’s character is better in anything. But as far as how cute she is in the animation/pictures, I definitely rate the anime at three. In the manga and light novel, she is absolutely adorable. I would say that the manga and light novel, as far as art goes, have really cute Holo’s. But the manga has the cutest.
