Being a vocaloid fan, I was quite stoked when I heard of the stirrings of an OAV based on Black Rock Shooter. An xxxHolic review.. a positive one at that... coming from a (le gasp) CLAMP hater. I don't hold back when I tell people how much I think CLAMP is greatly overrated and how most of their present productions (TRC, I'm pointing my finger at you) is just... ridiculous and not all that noteworthy. This. Now THIS surprised me. Usually, I'm not a fan of anime with a bazillion and one fangirls because they tend to overlook the story due to the number of bishonen present. Anime like that irk the hell out of me and I never touch them. Vampire Knight made me want to kill something due to its lack of plot and lackluster characters. In search of a good slice of life anime, I'd chanced upon K!On due to the recommendations of a few close friends. At first, I was wondering if it would be a typical moe anime but thankfully, I was mistaken.K!On is the story of a bunch of students trying to set up and maintain a Light Music Club in hopes of making it as successful as the Light Music Clubs of the past. I'd heard about Kannagi thanks to Sankaku Complex. It piqued my interest since it had something to do with Japanese myth and being a big fan of any sort of mythology, I went to go take a look and see.What I found was a fanservice anime that wins my award for OVERHYPED SERIES OF THE YEAR.Kannagi is supposedly about a goddess who appears in the human world because a human carved a statue out of the sacred tree.
