There is one thing I wanted to see in Bleach. The king of Soul Society!! Hmm... it would be pretty sweet if the king became corrupted and Ichigo had to take him out. Then somehow in the process, Ichigo became king? Nah, I can't picture that. What you do you think? He'd probably be too concerned with his friends and be a people pleaser. Easily caving into demands. Giant push over. "Sure. I'll hand over Soul Society to you, oh evil mister terrible bad guy, on a silver platter. Just as long as you promise not to hurt any of my subjects *cough* friends." LOL
But hey, I actually really liked the whole 'fight for friends' thing. But the last arc with the Fullbrings totally made Ichigo look desperate. A desperation that, I feel, didn't fit his character. Sure he loves his friends, but he was straight freaking out. He reacted like the world he knew was about to be wiped from existence by satellites in planetary orbit with nuclear capabilities and there was nothing he could do about it. For crying out loud... everything that he'd been through had to give him more strength than that. All his battles and emotional triumphs had to amount to more backbone than he displayed. But I guess I have to admit that his friends are his 'kryptonite.' Hmm... I don't know. Still, I feel like he totally wussed out. I have seen a side of Ichigo that I never even thought I'd see and now hoped was never there. lol
What happened?? Between this...
On top of witnessing roughly 20 minutes of the most terrifying Ichigo faces back-to-back in one episode, we get this moment... you know you hit rock bottom when you cry so hard in front of the bad guys that liquid eminates from your eyes, nose, and mouth... and then your enemies audibly pity you... let's repeat that for emphasis... your enemies audibly pity you...
I know... let's just dismiss this pitiful Ichigo altogether and move on to more mysteriously interesting characters. Like, Kisuke URAHARA! What's the deal with this guy? We know why he was kicked out of Soul Society, but surely Urahara has more potential than that. My conspiracy theory, which unfortunately is probably completely untrue but would be very interesting nonetheless, is that Urahara is the king of Soul Society! With a hobby of dabbling in extreme sciences. Of course they couldn't imprison the king, so he took a hiatus in the Land of the Living. And who knows, maybe Ichigo's dad was there just to 'keep tabs' on King Urahara - body guard style. This is all completely unfounded on my part, yes, but you must admit that it is a great diversion from the unsettling lack of acknowledgement of such a powerful figure as the king of all Soul Society.
Well, that's all for now. I've still got 5 episodes to watch before I officially finish Bleach. So I suppose I still don't know if the identity of the 'Soul King' will be revealed. However, I doubt it. The big man has never stuck his big hand out to help anyone before, so why now? Especially at the end of the show when there isn't much space to explain who the heck he is and where the heck he's been. In that case, I will carry on my delusional conspiracy theory to make myself feel better. XD
