I was first introduced to anime by my mother, her first anime she seen was The Flying Phantom Ship (1969) still at the time of USSR. My first experience with anime I can recall was Speed Racer (1966) which was aired in our country (I come from Lithuania) in mid 90s. From there I saw many others, like Rurouni Kenshin (1996), Anne of Green Gables (1979) and Dragon Ball (1986),what was broadcasted in our country, Ive tried my best not to miss it. So I even seen shows like Candy Candy (1976) and Lady Lady! (1987) - I was hooked on anime of any kind and any sort.
Later there was a period when I didn't watch so much and only now and then and sort of lost anime as my major interest. I re-discovered anime with more mature content shows like Hellsing (2001) and Berserk (1998), but true boom of anime addiction was brough back to me when I discovered Hayao Miyazaki and his Studio Ghibli. So my venture through his classics sallied forth on to new horrizons as I found more and more anime which fit my new tastes.
As of now, I become very picky about what I watch and I grew into sort of a snobish personality when it comes to what anime I consider to be good. I really detest such ''conveyer'' produced shows like One Peace, Bleach and Naruto, and favor approach ''less is more'' like Serial Experiments Lain or Kino's Travels (Kino no Tabi).
