AnimeABCs Statistics You're Dying to Know

Anime of Choice: Eureka Seven

Fav Yaoi Pairing:

Goal Completion Date:  Jan 1, 2013

~AnimABCs Event~

So, since Capeta, I've been having a hard time finding good anime to keep myself enthralled.  In hopes of coming out of my slump, I'm going do my AnimABCs!  Here's how it works!

As of today, I challenge myself to watch 1 anime for every letter of the alphabet.  I'll start with an anime title that starts with A.  Here are a couple rules I'll follow:

  1. The title can be in Japanese or English, as long as it starts with A.
  2. I can choose ANY anime that starts with an A (including OVAs, TV, Movies, etc).
  3. I can only move on to the next letter once I've completed the previous letter.  Since this is the case, I will choose only "completed" status animes.
  4. Once I've completed A, I'll move on to B, then C, etc.
  5. For a bonus, I'll watch an anime that starts with a number at the very end!
  6. NEW EXCEPTION: To be flexible, I'll allow myself to watch anything anime that are currently "Ongoing" during this time.

I'll keep a blog of the list of animes I've seen in my marathon.  Keep an eye out for it!

Since I'm busy with life, I won't be setting a time limit on it.  This marathon can last from a couple weeks to a full out year!  We'll see!

The challenge will be to continue the alphabet, and resist watching any animes that appear out of sequence!

Why not try this yourself?

Me, Myself, and Anime

When it comes to A/M, I'd like to think I'm fairly well-versed.  I've spent way too much time on it and thanks to it, I've become a hermit whose longest relationship I've ever had (other than with my folks) is with my computer (ah~ I love you! *kisskisshughug*).

I used to have a habit of marathoning A/M, but have since overcome it with a strange addiction to solitaire.  Now, instead of watching fifteen episodes of anime in a row, I pause every three to four episodes to play some intense, eyebrow-scrunching solitaire before resuming.  I'd like to think its an improvement.  Fortunately now, I can afford to spend the time watching as I no longer have to pretend to study or do school work.

If only 'Epic' was a genre...

My tastes in A/M have remain (mostly) unchanged since the start of my Otaku journey some 10 years ago.  While the general targeted age of my tastes have changed, I still find myself a slave to animes/mangas with an epic theme.  There's nothing I love more than an undefeatable main character with an addicting storyline.  Throw in some comedy and you have my ideal anime genre.  I generally prefer genres like Shounen, Action, Drama, Comedy, Romance, and Epicness (its a genre in my book).  Stuff like One Piece, Gintama, Skip Beat!, Soul Eater, Fushigi Yuugi, Basilisk, and Major (to name a few) totally make my day.

My least favourite genres (i.e. the genres I hate with a passion) are Harem (unless its reverse harem... like Nadeshiko and even then, I still hate Angelique), ecchi (in most cases) and general panty shot/fanservice/big titties/pervertness genred A/M.  Unfortunately for me though, there seems to be more and more of these ridiculously pointless A/M and less and less of 'good' anime nowadays.  In my opinion, if I'm spending time reading stuff like this, I might as well just read hentai.

Spontaneous Ratings

5 stars - "OMFG.  So good."

  1. I'll totally recommend this one to EVERYONE.
  2. I definitely marathoned this one.
  3. Upon finishing, I feel a sense of loss and emptiness in my soul.
  4. I'm likely to: (1) rewatch/reread the entire series from the top; (2) go back to certain episodes/chapters to rewatch/reread my favourite scenes; and/or (3) start watching/reading the anime/manga counterpart.

4.5 stars - "Really good!"

  1. I'd recommend this if it came up in a conversation.
  2. I probably marathoned the anime.
  3. Upon finishing, I'm likely to feel a sense of loss but will get over it quickly.
  4. I may or may not do (2) or (3).

4 stars - "I enjoyed it."

  1. I probably didn't marathon it.
  2. Upon finishing, no sense of loss is felt.
  3. I probably won't go back to certain episodes to watch my favourite parts though.
  4. Easily replaced.

3.5 stars - "It was so-so."

  1. Easily replaced.
  2. Upon finishing, may feel as if I'd wasted my time.

3 stars and below - "..."

  1. Probably stalled or dropped.
  2. Upon stall/drop, likely to feel annoyed and as if I'd wasted my time.

Not rated - ?

  1. Usually too insignificant for me to bother rating.
  2. I forgot.

As you can see, most of my ratings are either between 3-5 or not rated.  Anything not rated is generally a result of my laziness or a lack of interest.

I've seen quite a bit of anime and am always open to suggestions.  In turn, if you'd like suggestions, drop me a line!  You're also welcome to checkout my anime stats for what I really enjoyed.

Well, since I'm feeling sleepy and lazy, I'll end this profile update now.

Indeed Bakuman will be a treat.  I read the manga and I couldn't be anymore intrigued by it.  So naturally I'm dieing to see watch the anime.  Never heard of any of those others you just named, except Hakuouki.  I believe it's about samurai or something.  Looked to be a cool anime. Anyways i'm not ashamed i like anime, but i consider it one of my deeper secret that i don't go telling.  I suppose you could call it beauty, but the point is still there.  People can't understand why we watch it.  usually when someone asks why i do, i just tell em it's better than anything going in the US.  There's way more to anime than just a couple characters and the title.

Wow poko. I´m absolutely stunned. The One Piece manga has reached another dimension of sparkling, holy awesomeness. I´l be devoted to this series for the rest of my life :D!

First things first. Being a man, i have to say, when a girl is so obsessed about an anime, it doesn't draw me in like a magnet, like some would think. lfmao!  Your intent on corrupting my mind with CG and turning me into a crazy fan-girl will neva WORK. muhaha!  I've already dragged in by...........something.......that is not CG lol.

Well, i agree, after a few fights, i wouldn't be able to contain my ego.  I never have been in a fight, i wish i did get into one but never had a cause.  Though i do get the feeling, that when in a fight, the adrenaline is so overpowering that you no longer feel afraid of your opponent.  In Holyland's case, even during a fight, he looks like he can barely hold himself of, the shakes have got his legs so bad.  I mean, shit your bound to lose sometime but he goes to such a deep depression about it, i don't understand how anyone can go so low with winning so many. There are worse things out there besides "not fitting in".  Wish i could remember his name. Well anyways, he has at least a couple friends so i would assume that would be enough.  You can't keep a manga about the weakest of weak minded fools alive if that is all readers see is a crying baby.

Your not into fucked up series??  How can you possibly not be into: grotesque torture, images that will haunt you, disgusting acts, bodies folding in half, skull-splitting humans, disfigured corpses laying in the masses, and of course, human acts of rape and other awful things that could only happen in our world?  Everything else not present in our world, is left up to the imagination of the writers and if you have not thought of it yet, well its most likely in the anime/manga.  You can't possibly tell me, after your insightful glimpse with Elfen Lied, that you don't want more?  :DDD nah, its not all that bad really.  Maybe im just trying to scare you out of the genre so you don't get to corrupted.  Or maybe, im trying to scare you into the genre so you see the realism in what is out there? O_o

The only anime im interested in in the Fall lineup would be, Bakuman.  Not so crazy about new anime.  Won't go into that though because it would take up alot of space.  Anyways, i have seen it and there are some others that looks kinda interesting.  Is there any your interested in?

Bags!  I responded, idk when i even left that comment or where.  It's been years Poko!  It seems i rec'd martial arts manga.  Gamaran is a great series though, gotta love the tournament type story to it.  I always did find tourneys to be awesome, because then there is SUPPER MASS FIGHTING!!!  Holyland is great as well, though the main kid, really starting to bug me.  Honestly now, after whooping so much ass, what type of person can still have no ego?  He wails on people yet still cowers like a sissy. It's rather aggravating.  Like i said, anyone who is human would get some moral boost if they were winning like he was.

Sadly, i dont think ill ever get to Full contact, being im in a manga slump, and don't read as much as i did a few months back.  It's like, all of a sudden, i stopped reading manga and now im trying to find great series to watch.  Don't rec code Geass by the way, sensing from your avatar, the show is about 2 guys falling madly in love with each other, or something. :DDDD   Anyways, i dont think there is much else i can say, not sure what your into really besides martial arts.  Are you into anything besides MA and something that is not girly?  lmfao.  I just read a fucked up manga if your into that stuff. (read al's page, i have great detail about its grossness)

Anyways, good to hear back from ya in over.........4...............months.  ^_^

By god i talk to much, just saw something about busou renkin, BOR-YAWN.  it will put you to sleep, well atleast it did me.  I think that anime is why i went back to anime, Being the fact that i couldn't stand i had nothing else better to watch, and so i set out trying to find way better anime.  Take my honest, good-hearted, incredibly reliable, most sincere word, and suna's, and avoid it. O_o

well later.

Hi there Poko!

I just read the reaction you dropped at my blog on FMA Brotherhood. If you enjoyed FMA and you wanted more you deffenitely want to watch Brotherhood. The story differs slightly from FMA, but you'll get to knopw much more about the alchemy that's used, characters are way better developed and the story goes on much longer compared to the first series.

I hope I've conviced you on Brotherhood. If you're gonna watch it, please let me know what you think of it.
