I've been watching anime since I've been in elementary school, and I started reading manga in high school. I first heard about this site from vulpixes, after meeting her in college. We are now engaged.
I first got into anime watching Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Robotech, Pokemon, and Digimon. The first manga I ever read was Naruto. The fantasy appeals to me and I like the idea of having magic powers and being able to adventure in far away, mythical worlds. I find the fantasy far more interesting than real life. As a result I find myself fantasizing a lot. As a kid I had an active imagination that was fed from anime. I remember being at my grandparents house and sitting in a chair, acting like I was a pilot in a mech suit from Robotech, going on missions in space. I even pretended to fight villains and monsters like from DBZ and Sailor Moon.
As a adult, I love anime and manga that have good, solid stories. I like an anime or manga based on whether I find it compelling or not. I enjoy being able to discuss and analyze the story. I especially enjoy a story that requires something from the reader and leaves them with something when it's all over. I'd like to think some of my ideals have been born from the different series I've seen and read growing up.
I've never really had any consistent group of friends who were as into anime and manga as much as I was. So by joining this site I hope to be able to meet more people like mysely to discuss ideas about different series.
As of right now I'm simply trying to broaden my anime catalog, as well as make friends. I want to become more involved with anime and manga as I eventually would like to become a writer myself. As a result, I'll happily look at any suggestions for new anime or manga.
