Haré+Guu

YOU MIGHT LIKE

FLCL

FLCL has the same sort of premise as Hale+Guu; uptight kid's life is turned upside down by the arrival of a mysterious girl. FLCL is like Hale+Guu if the characters in Guu hit puberty and had awkward sexual undertones thrown into the mix. Each animation style is unique (and very interesting), but the shows are similar, and those who appreciate the humor and that "what the heck" feeling will definately appreciate the both series.

Eternal Family

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Dead Leaves

If you've watched (and enjoyed) Eternal family, you must have a taste for something unique and kind of crazy. So give Dead Leaves a try. The animation style is very similar, the humour is just as black, the story is almost as spastic, and yet, in the end, it all makes sense.

Dead Leaves

Similar slick animation style, similar craziness, and despite the insanity, a similar sense of a plot after everything is all said and done. Dead Leaves is meant for a bit more mature of an audience, but still, definately an obvious recommendation.

Kogepan

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Ocha-ken

Kogepan and Ocha-ken are extremely similar anime. If you are a fan of one, you will be delighted to watch the other. Besides the obvious point that both are series for young children, each series deals with some sort of philosophy or little life lesson in the space of just a few minutes, delivered simply with charming animation and encouraging narration.

Haibane Renmei

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Figure 17

Although Figure 17 is a series with a younger target audience than Haibane Renmei, I think they are similar in mood and theme. Both series have a quiet, subdued feeling, beautifully rendered scenery, and a young girl character trying to come to terms with the dynamics of her unusual life. Haibane Renmei is heavier on the drama side, while Figure 17 gets into action and science fiction, but I think fans of Haibane will appreciate it.
