Well... Uh. Hi there, and welcome to my blog ♥From the Eyes of a Pure oTaKu♥. As most of you already know, my name is Emma and here I write the latest updates and news on the best there is and coming. Today, I am here to discuss Understated Animes. Also short for animes who are really great but don't get the attention they deserve.
Now, I bet most of you have never heard the anime Kore Wa Zombie Desu Ka?. Well... While searching through Anime-Planets anime, I came across this title and figured it was really weird considering some of the tags were zombies, magical girl, school life, and comedy. I thought... What a strange combination. Looking over to the left, I saw the animation studio: Studio Deen!! (One of the most loved studios ever!) That made me thoroughly confused. Out of curiosity and pure instinct, I went to Animefreak to watch the first episode. I really enjoyed it and decided to watch more. I have to say that the animation style was quite similiar to the way Natsume's Book of Friends was made. Both of them used pretty demure and understated colors. That gave it a nice calming feel but the plot itself was completely opposite. The contrast between the plot and the scenery is very large but it all fits together nicely. All of the characters' backgrounds and personalities made the story feel so original. I didn't knwo whether to consider that part good where it stood or just plain terrible. I got a bit confused when all the characters were being introduced to the story especially the Masou Shojo and vampire ninja part. Those led to unfinished details which got a bit messy. In the beginning, I was a bit reluctant in watching at first because I saw the tag, magical girl. I don't know why but I have this thing about magical girl animes. I never really like them. Although, when I was little, I always used to watch Sailor Moon, Tokyo Mew Mew, and the etc with my older sister. Even though in the anime they had a transformation and stuff, it made me feel more at ease because the guy was transforming. That was definitely something I had never heard about. But I have to say, I give this anime a strong 9.5/10!
UPDATE: Recently when I visited my local library, I discovered a new series that goes by the name Black Sun, Silver Moon. It fits perfectly to today theme!! For those who are interested in reading (which I strongly recommend), here is the main plot!
A church priest, Shikimi recruits a boy named Taki to be a housekeeper in order for the church to stay clean but that's not only what Shikimi hired him for. In the nighttime, Shikimi takes Taki to the graveyard to kill monsters who were once human but what else will Taki find out as he continues to live at the church?
