about me

Hi. I'm Nean, a sixteen year old highschool student. As you can probably take notice from my existence on this site, I like Anime... A lot. Though I have no specific genre that I favor. I'm always willing to try an Anime no matter how horrible it looks, or how horrible of ratings it gets, or even how much crap I get from my friends. Uh.. Yeah... Lets get down to my favorites!

Favorite Anime:

  1. Elfen Lied - Elfen Lied was a rollercoaster ride of brutality and tragedy for me, and was the only Anime to bring a tear to my eye. At first it lacked promise. Gore, nudity, mindless violence. Seemed like a bunch of fan service that was animated, and that was it. I was horribly mistaken as I soon found that this show held much more than what met the eye. A dramatic love story, tear jerking past, and an impossible relationship... This truly is a one of a kind Anime.
  2. Neon Genesis Evangelion - This Anime did very well delving into psychology and the meaning of life. I found this to be a great Anime, though I found it hard to keep up with what was going on, this Anime still holds a part in my heart for its realism. I can really imagine something like this happening, and it showed perfect portrayal of the greed of some. I also loved how they showed Shinji as only human, and reluctant, rather than the ever ready hero that takes on everything...
  3. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - This Anime was amazing on every single leve imaginable. At first I thought it was going to be a generic harem Anime. Wrong. This show did perfect to blend in: Humor, Romance, psychology, and the supernatural. The Animation was very well done. I don't know what to say. I just found this show to be amazing.
  4. Hellsing: The only thing that I can think of this show that could have been improved is the Animation. Though Hellsing didn't follow the Manga as closely as I'd have liked, I still found it to do very well for itself. The story was great, and never left me disappointed, the characterization was also portrayed well. It was also one of the first Anime I had ever seen.
  5. Howl's Moving Castle - I had really thought that this Anime wouldn't be as good as it was. While still being child friendly, they managed to pull off a great storyline, and fantastic animation. The characterization was nearly flawless, and I lost track of time very easily watching this. The ending was a happy one, something that is rare in Anime these days.
  6. Claymore - Claymore was awe-inspiring. Though it was only twenty-six episodes, I thought that they did pretty good tying up some loose ends, though some more were present at the end. The fights weren't drawn out too bad, they were incredibly fast paced, and something unique always happened, leaving me surprised. I also loved the style that the Claymore's were drawn in.
  7. Black Lagoon - Black Lagoon didn't disappoint, and for that I'm happy. Non stop action, with amazing character development, I'm really glad that I found this Anime. The fights were incredibly fast paced, and it was interesting to see the development of Rock and Levy's friendship grow, as time went on. I also loved how the crime was portrayed as a way of getting food, rather than something that is truely bad. Also: Nun's with guns are amazing.
  8. Gantz: What can I say? I'm a sucker for ecchi and gore... As long as there is a good story. Gantz didn't disappoint with the story, though I feel that it could've been a bit more developed. The plot had my attention, the characters were well done, from the perverted Kei, to the brave Kato. The fights were usually incredibly gory, this show definitely didn't sugar coat the deaths...
  9. Azumanga Daioh - This show is fucking hilarious. Thats all there is to it. Virtually no story, and nothing ever gets done, but I still love Azumanga Daioh. The characters in this show are amazing blunt, and pretty well developed, as each main character has at least one episode dedicated to getting to know them.
  10. Tokko - This show's story was very cheesey and overdone. The sound effects and special effects sucked. What drew me to this anime? I loved the characters. I can't say why, because I don't know myself. I was just drawn to the characters, and desperately hoped that each would make it out okay.... I still love this show... Just don't know why.

Favorite Anime Openings

  1. Lilium - Elfen Lied Opening. - This song was sung in latin in an opera styled sort of genre. I don't know what drew me to this song, It was either the way that it made me sad and think about Elfen Lied, or was the way that it had some sort of hopeful resonance in the background...
  2. D-Technolife - Bleach Opening - This song is epic in a sense that I don't understand. It's catchy! What can I say? I like the singing, and the beat... It's just a good song.
  3. Sadness and Sorrow - Naruto Opening - This song was depressing for me, when I used to watch Naruto. It really reminds me of my first Anime (Naruto), and for that reason I like it. It's a very pretty song.

Favorite Voice Actors

  1. Aya Hirano (Haruhi Suzumiya - Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) - What can I say? She's won multiple awards, I just loved the voice.
  2. Tomoko Kaneda (Chiyo Chan - Azumanga Daioh) - Her voice was overly cute... ^_^
  3. Sanae Kobayashi (Lucy - Elfen Lied) - It was perfect. If Lucy was real, thats the voice she would have.

Favorite Manga

  1. Bleach - I prefer the Manga over the Anime for one big reason. No filler. The Manga does well to show the story, the epic fights, and even the personalities and succeeds much more than the Anime. Also things don't seem to be as repetitive.
  2. Naruto - The same as above. Epic fights, an alright story, and no filler.
  3. Elfen Lied - I realize that the artwork is no where near perfect. People refer to it as a lot more sloppy than the show. It is. I still love it, it does a better job of showing and portraying emotion, than the actual show.
  4. Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days - This Manga is a lot more cartoonish than people would prefer, but I love the idea of it. We saw a bit of a taste of this world in episode twenty five of Neon Genesis Evangelion Anime, and this continues on. The story is so much happier than the original it's hard not to like.

I'M NOT DONE YET PEOPLES. MUCH MORE TO ADD LATER.
