Mushishi

Jul 30, 2011

Story: It's difficult to describe what mushi (what this series revolves around) is but the series itself isn't diffcult to understand. It does have deep and profound ideas but it's simple. Although the series is episodic and slow-paced, it doesn't stop being interesting. The episode doesn't get boring which is surprising. However, I wouldn't call this series entertaining. It will probably capture your interest and it rightfully should. It also makes you think deeply but I don't have much of a desire to rewatch the series. If you are in the mood for something that is more than pure fluff and entertainment... See full review

MM!

Feb 15, 2011

Story: Althought MM! was entertaining to begin with, it became repetitative and predictable. It did prove to have a lot of parody and satire but the running gags seemed to get in the way. Throughout the series, there were random episodes that proved to be quite funny. They just became paired with the running gags which became tiresome. I understand that the series itself isn't supposed to be serious or have a deep plot. However, it is a comedy/parody which needs to continue to be fresh and keep you laughing. I felt that MM! wasn't as successful in that. This wasn't awful but I felt that it hindered itself... See full review

Maid-sama!

Nov 20, 2010

Plot: I loved the manga but some of the issues in the manga transferred onto the anime. The biggest one is how stubborn Misaki is with her relationship with Usui. I found it very annoying how their relationship would flip-flop. They obliviously love each other but they neither will admit it. However, their dynamics are still cute and will appeal to shoujo lovers. The episodes are mainly episodic with a couple of plotlines like Misaki and Usui's relationship and appearance of Hinata. However, for the most part, each episodes usually as a resolution at the end which isn't necessaryily a bad thing. The ending... See full review

My Bride is a Mermaid

Nov 7, 2010

Story: Mermaid and human love story. It gets even stranger when the mermaid is actually part of a mermaid gang and the weirdness just escalates from that point. Although the romance felt a little superficial to me, the comedy was hilarious. It's way more comedy than the romance. It's pretty episodic with not too plot development. There is some but not too much. The characters pretty much stay the same throughout the series but it works, kind of. I didn't like the harem that starting to arise (not too much of a harem fan). However, the short story lines were laugh out loud funny. Not too much depth but it... See full review

Maria Holic

Jun 24, 2010

Story: Perverted lesbian girl meets girl who is actually a boy. The premise itself was a selling point for me but it gets better. The crazy antics of Mariya and Matsurika are hilarious, I would have preferred the perspective from the maid because Kanako does get over-the-top. It reminds me of Wallflower with the level of nosebleed but I found Sunako to much more lovable, as strange as that sounds. I don't like perverts so I don't really like the story to be told by one. However, it is still filled to the brim with humor. The ending falls flat with a weird cliffhanger and many questions unanswered. I felt... See full review
