8man after is what Ghost In The Shell wishes it could be like. 8man has more depth, rises the same questions as GiTS, and just is all around better strung together. If you like GiTS you should love 8man.
These two series are exactly alike... not much more to say than that.
A series with a bunch of robot girls that fall in love with their owner. It's a bit more shallow in story than Mahoromatic, and has a little more over the top humour.
With enemy after enemy coming after Pai, and the countless confrontations she is engaged in, it makes the series seems very much like DarkStalker's. You also develope a similar type of sympathy of certain characters in each.
Both Twilight Of the Darkmaster and Nightwalker have a similiar sort of dark style in art. Also but are about battling the darkside. And Both have calm, stylish, pretty man-type lead characters. Though story differs, and TotDM has a much more serious tone.
Similar style. Both are Sci-Fi, type Psychological series, with many dark twists. BoogiePop is a bit darker, and harder to follow.
Both are very dark series, with psychological twists to them. Though, Lain is a bit more linear than BoogiePop
To be honest I'm not quite sure why I would recommend Excel Saga for FLCL fans. It's much more hyper than FLCL, which some may not like. But well it is a parody, and most fans of one seem to like the other.
A bunch of girls live with Tenchi and cause him a whole bunch of trouble and drama. Obvious similarities in these plots.
Both are incredibly alike in style, and similar settings. Geneshaft is a bit slower paced at times though.
Both have a kick ass robotic female lead character. Style and setting are pretty similar too.
Cute lil cyborg cat girl runs around kicking fancy machines around. Nuku Nuku is much more up beat, but they have similar art styles and pace.
As much as I hate to recommend Hellsing to anyone, it does pretty much try to copy the style of NightWalker... but does so poorly. But it does have it's decent moments and is worth a watch.
Hellsing has a same type of dark atmosphere that Darkstalker's has. Also Hellsing has quite a few show downs.
One has girls in hard suits kicks the ass of freakish mutated robot one after another, the other has a cybog kicking the asses of drugged out cyborg junkies one after another. The battle styles are pretty similiar.
These two series have a similar art style. Both are quite crazy at times, but not over the top really. Personally I find Photon to be a bit better. They both mock many stereotypes in animes.
Well... 8man is about killing crazed drugged up cyborgs, and Armitage is about saving cyborgs... They have a similar feel, and what would be concider complex lead characters. Both are short and packed with constant action.
GunSmith Cats is packed with nonstop action. And while the plot... art... and everything else differs greating from BGC, the speed makes them alike.
Project-Ako is quite possibly the original anime parody. It pokes fun at just about every aspect of anime. Though older and not quite as "zaney" as FLCL, it still is a great series worth watching.
