Disappointed in this chapter. There are often meaningful and interesting storeis and events when Natsu isn't taking the lead, so I expected a little more out of this.
Maybe it'll pick up, and a lot of shounen stuff starts out with the protagonist in some sort of disadvantage. I guess I should be grateful that they aren't randomly going to the other guilds and members (like Lyon and Eve, since we know their characters)...yet, at least.
I think the disappointment started on the second page. The first page promised something interesting, with Meredy and Ultear, but then there were 2-3 pages with Maverick going over the rules of this game, which we already read in the last chapter.
What is WITH mangaka and repeating things that we've seen in the previous chapter these days? First with Ao no Exorcist, now Fairy Tail. For a weekly manga, that's annoying, and slightly insulting (to the readers) as well.
I'll admit, the part where Juvia messed up was funny, and Laxus' expression, but the rest was slightly dull and uninspired.
Hide and seek where you have to hide and seek at the same time...not very original (though the part with the clones is a nice touch, I'll admit). Then, having the rival finding the protagonist almost right away and constantly finding the protagonist afterwards is a little cliche, especially in a manga involving magic where there are plenty of ways that characters can track one another.
...huh. There's no site tag for "cliche", or "shounen cliche". I enjoy shounen anime/manga, but I expected a little more from Mashima-sensei. Fairy Tail isn't nearly as engaging as Rave was.
