***WARNING THIS CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM FRUITS BASKET, OURAN, AND LOVELESS***
I haven't posted anything in while, how sad..
So this blog will be about a certain type of anime that is just annoying the crap out of me lately (Pardon my language kiddies).
This type of anime are the ones that finish before the manga if there is one. Series like Uraboku, Monochrome Factor, Fruits Basket, and Loveless all had one thing in common: the endings sucked. I hate the ending where it's like one giant climax (yaoi fans hush) with no true conclusion. Are the producers really that impatient? Do they have no other ways to end the anime? Do they even know HOW to end an anime?! Lemme delve a bit deeper into this for you.
Fruits Basket. Truly a classic in anime (well at least to me). The manga was excellent with the awesome plot, diverese characters (hehe Ritsu) and just the epitome of shojo. Now the anime on the other hand was just a total disappoint. It. Ended. With. Her. HOLDING THEIR HANDS. Whose brilliant idea was that?! "Oh instead of actually ending the anime by having Tohru pick the one she truly loves, lets just have them walk off all happy"
That person should be fired. And killed. Fired and killed.
Ouran High School Host Club (Yes I'm going there). Okay I take back calling Fruits Basket the epitome of shojo. Ouran by far takes the cake and yes that was a partial reference to Hunny. I don't even need to explain why it is so shojo because everyone and their anime-lovng mothers should already know why. As for the ending of the anime, they left us on a cliff yet again. Does Haruhi pick Kyoya or Tamaki or maybe even Hikaru? Oh you won't know until November of 2010. Hm what was that? Oh yes it is the year 2006 so you'll have to wait about four years to figure it out. Absolutely frustrating.
Is anyone seeing a pattern yet? I'll give you one more example.
Loveless. My first shounen-ai anime and manga. I remember how amazed I was with Soubi and Ritsukas first kiss, the spell battles, it was so awesome. Then the ending for the anime happened. Ritsuka and Soubi share a total fluff moment before cutting to this shadowed figure (who we all know is Seimei) questioning Ritsuka's future. Seriously? Another question ending? It's like the companies are just teasing us now. First of all THE MANGA STILL ISN'T OVER! And the anime ended in 2005! The manga was already well into the plot but the things that weren't included in the anime were just stupid decisions made on some idiots part to keep the whole thing finished in 12 episodes.
I will never get over that one...
Okay so we've looked at Fruits Basket, Ouran, and Loveless. And I hope you've come to some sort of conclusion along the lines of "If the manga isn't finished. either read it first before watching the anime or just skip the anime altogether"
Well that's all I've got to say for now. Time to do my homework that I've put off for about 3 hours ^^
