Haven't seen Index, only Railgun, but he was annoying, had no real motivations (apart from the lame "I want more power"), was cruel and shallow. Hate is probably a too harsh world, but I definitely dislike him a lot.

To be honest I don't think I'll be watching Index anytime soon, but at least I'm glad to hear he's not as bad as I thought him to be.
