Outlaw Star

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Cowboy Bebop

Released only 9 months apart, Cowboy Bebop and Outlaw eerily share a lot with one another. They both have bounty hunters in space fairing civilizations trying to earn enough money to survive, who end up with more on their plate than they bargained for. But the similarties pretty much stop there. If you dig either one, you will probably enjoy the other. While Outlaw Star tends to stick with a more slapstick comedy and cartoon laws of physics in order to maintain a fun atmosphere in the meshed Mecha-Spaceship fights and various situations/character mannerisms; Cowboy Bebop seems to try to stay more true to reality and keep some of the laws of physics in order to create more tense situations during it's ship-to-ship battles and the ever impending responsibilities and necesseties of life driving the characters to do what they need to.Cowboy Bebop is my favored of the two but Outlaw Star is a lot of fun, and a nice change of pace. If you like Outlaw Star, Cowboy Bebop should be right up your alley, since it is more of a low key / low profile take on space fairing bounty hunters. And if you like Cowboy Bebop, unless you hate cartoon comedy and look down on slightly less mature content, OS should definitley be watched.

Trigun

YOU MIGHT LIKE

Desert Punk

Like Vash the Stampede, Sunabouzu The Ghost of the Desert is an unexpected but renowned person in the desert. That is where the similarity ends between the two however, as Sunabouzu is a deviant, a lecher, and doesn't believe in honorable ideals at all. While normally these would be character flaws, they allow him to survive in the desert that the world has become. Both of these series are packed full of action and comedy, and more importantly are a story you can care about. While both the hero of Trigun and anti-hero of Desert Punk are about as different as two people can get, the way the stories are told are very similar, and it's not just because of the desert setting. I heartily suggest anyone who enjoyed Trigun to check out Desert Punk, if ecchi is something you dislike though, you may want to skip it. Sunabouzu is after all a lecher, and he's not afraid to grab breasts and daydream about women. But it's in good taste as it makes for quite a bit of the comic relief in many episodes.
