Music I'm currently addicted to.

2009

So I've decided to just start randomly posting when I've got a bunch of new music that I can't stop listening to. The members of ISSUP probably know quite well that I listen to a lot of music (and that I spam the IRC with one too many now playing messages every once in a while) so I am going to begin throwing a few of the songs that find their way into my ever-changing current favourites playlist onto a blog post in hopes that someone else might enjoy some of them as much as I do.

To start things off I figured I'll finally reveal where my username comes from. Let's Build a Fire is the name of an album by +/- and somehow I always find myself coming back and listening to it. In particular, Leap Year, the eleventh track off the album gets a lot of playtime.

Next up is I Capture Castles from the post-rock band And So I Watch You From Afar. Post-Rock is one of my favourite genres, I love how it can be so calm at one moment and then intense and full of emotion the next. While not my favourite post-rock band, And So I Watch You From Afar is one of my more recent finds while searching for more music to add to my always expanding library.

Now for a change of tempo, and a band that's a little bit more well known. Credit has to go to Kira for recommending I give them a listen, and after listening to Slam (and watching a largely overweight man dancing shirtless) along with some of their other songs, Pendulum had become a staple in my driving playlist. There are currently four of their songs in my "Addicted To" playlist, my favourite of which being Different, which has a ludicrous playcount.

I think I'll wrap things up after this next one (I have to save some for when I'm running low on new stuff). I haven't heard anything but the one song from their upcoming (I think) album, and despite being played daily on the radio I still haven't grown tired of it. The song is Rustbucket, and it's performed by One Bad Son, one of the few local bands that have a decent sound.

Feel free to recommend some songs for me to listen to, I always enjoy finding new music.

Cool, and here I thought you kist were a pyro at heart.

that Plus Minus really benifits from hitting the "HQ" button

The I Capture Castles sounds like it is done in a studio. I am amazed.  At first it has the guitar pickings and cascade of shoegaze till 1:25 when the tempo totally changes and it becomes a different song, then again at about the 3:50 mark.  I will probably look into these guys (so thanks)

I also dig the Pendulum one.
