I don't know why most people love anime over manga....manga is in the majority of times better than the anime itself... maybe people don't know how to use their imagination and recreate sounds and colors inside their heads -_-'
I love manga in all it's glory, I actually preffer manga over anime when it comes to "smut" and adult content mangas, I'm turning 26 next month and I feel like I can't read any more 16 and 17 year old high school girl stories anymore, I need something that fits my liking to the way I look at the world now, so I turn to Josei and all that good stuff, one thing I'm really attached to are Mayu Shinjo's Mangas, full of romance, lust, beautifull drawings, sex, drama, tragedy and did I mention sex???? yes very explicit yet "cencured manga, you see all except dick haha, the one I love more is Akuma na Eros and followed by Kaikan Phrase, it's a freaken shame that A P doesn't have all the Mayu Shindo Mangas listed ... I've read them all! heck I could easily post all the synopsis for each one, I'm tempted to but I just don't know if they are gonna post them in a matter of days or even weeks, it all depends on Sothis to update the manga directory.... Then again I could be a sex crazed girl with a lust for dirty manga ;D

So I just spent an hour or so adding the remaining Mayu Shinjo titles after reading this (except a few such as anthologies with multiple authors, as the database isn't set up to handle those yet, and a few that aren't available in english). If you appreciate it, please consider adding recommendations. ^_^ They just answer the question 'if you liked A or B, you'd like the other because...'
Given you've read a lot of smut manga, it seems, it would be really helpful if you could choose pairs that you think work well together and add the recs. We don't have many manga recs yet as the DB is quite new :)

As long as it's not full out hentai manga- sothis will probably add it. So, try writing a synopsis if you want it up on the site.
As for the loving anime over manga... I can't speak for everyone, but although I read manga sometimes, when I sit down to read I prefer a real book. I've found that most manga doesn't satisfy the escapism aspect that draws me to reading in the first place. Whereas anime on the other hand accomplishes that in the same way a tv show would.
I'll have to agree with you about smut manga though. I don't partake in porn or hentai, but smut manga is quite fun. :D
I agree with NimiRA. If you are used to real books, manga doesn't cut it for you. It doesn't let your imagination run as wild as a good book does. It is halfway between a book and an anime. While anime completely rips you of that imagination part, it provides other artistic values. Moreover plots in manga are usually not as deep and thoughtful as a pure text form allows.
But that is just the majority. There are terrible books and great manga. Just want to point out, that people preferring anime might actually have more imagination capabilities than manga requires. ^^
