Tokyo Ghoul:re

Jun 9, 2020

It is interesting reading some reviews on this adaptation that signal to the manga being better, because it isnt. The issues with pacing and the storyline come from the manga itself, and the anime does not do much to better this to make it easier for anime only viewers to understand, as they are coming from Root A that went a different direction than the manga itself.  This first season animates up to the middle of volume 6 of Toyko Ghoul:Re so it isnt a crazy amount being adapted with a chunk of that being pages of fighting.   Story The introduction to Hase and his team is just... La Storia Della Arcana Famiglia

Oct 4, 2012

Really in retrospect I should have watched just the first and last episode and I would have been much happier. It starts off really strong, lots of characters introduced, hints of some sort of battle and what appears that what is obviously the girl everyone is going to be into is actually independent for once. Then about 10 episodes of backstory, character development, and budding 'romance' before going back to this supposed battle that the first episode sets up. The concept of these powers based off of the Major Arcana tarot cards is interesting, although out of the 22 cards there are about 10 people in... See full review

Love, Election & Chocolate

Overall for a summer anime that starts out really fluffy, it does really well. It combines a lot of things that would attract viewers (yaoi jokes and obvious harem setup) without really looking overdone.  One of the best parts I found was that the protagonist was quite different from the usual male who gets a lot of women after him just because of his honesty. I do not know many anime's which feature a guy actually rejecting a girl outright at a point in time. Usually it is just ignoring it with the passive approach. The types of girls that are love interests are also a bit unusual, although the... See full review

Utakoi

This is a really cute anime, but I can't help that some of it is lost on western audiences because of the content. The plot is easy, it is pretty much a make believe version of how a bunch of famous Japanese haiku's are written, with the narrator being this guy who collected 100 poems (noticably more love poems than anything else) linking the time periods and characters together. THis means that something you have to remember that while the characters are real, and the poems are real, the plot is not. Likely for Japanese viewers who would have studied these poems sometime in school it would be obvious... See full review

So, I Can't Play H!

Sep 26, 2012

It was obvious from the description and the preview of this show that it was going to be a fanservice anime. Even then, it failed on this part. There have been a few decent ecchi anime that had a plot that had substance, and even shows that didnt have the best plot but were enjoyable...but this was not one of them. There was a lot of opportunity for it to be very raunchy, with the plot basically being that there is some demon like people who use the energy of humans for their own good, and this girl happened to get this guy whose energy source is linked to him being horny. You could easily have gotten... See full review
