LOL Yeah I think fanfics had something to do with it. =P LOL I see cool, I was always picky about fanfics, especially Harry Potter. I only readl ike 4 fanfics, and most were from a friend on a forum and he only wrote like 1-4 chapters, never finished and stuff and really it was worth those few chapters, he was an amazing writer. LOL And yeah seriously thank the internet for there being an internet! =D I only had Cartoon Network for all those years (besides Sci-Fi where I saw Akira on it so long ago) before the interweb! =P

Well, I have always thought that the anime is not for the kids... unless it's something like really childish.. I remember just how uneasy I felt when seeing the close relationship between Sailor Uranus and the other one(Saturn? o_O) a friendship that looked more(and was reffered at) like a love relationship... and considering that I was around 7, I think... it was hard to understand it... then how the other 3 girls that looked and talked like guys were actually women and loved women... I really did not have any concept of yuri back then.. so yeah.. anime is really not for children..
Sorries Mee-sama, and I know about friends.. I mean every one of my girl friends were smiling and joking about me watching anime, they were not making fun of me(not in my face at least) cos none could match my 'witty-mean-true' remarks... and messing with the quiet reading-all-the-time kid.. is not a good idea... so matching the classic literature with anime was great, and living 'in your own world' takes lots less energy than going with the trend.... and really I never liked sheep >_>

LOL Yeah I got into DBZ fanfics as well, my main reasons for getting into forums as I wanted to try and write and post my own and all, funny how it was about 3-4 years later that I actually finally did write one! =P
Well, you had other, more important, things to do with your time and not as much patience or understanding from the one(s) around you, I guess... it's just cos' we are 'kids', or we were that when the most of 'old/classic' anime was aired on tv and all~ <33
