You knew this was coming. This season is nice, plenty of series have caught my interest and I'm almost burning up with anticipation. Let's rant!
1. Accel World. I started this series on a whim, I didn't even know about until I randomly stumbled upon the torrents. What can I say? I love the idea; lovely animation, very Harushi-ish (I never said I hated Haruhi animation xD). Smooth lines and smooth movement, I will definitely continue watching this. I love the main character, finally!
2. Nihon no Mukashibanashi. I've always been a fan of folk tales, and this show, even though it's a kids' show, is simply great. I laughed my ass off a couple of times, honestly, and the animation feel refreshing.
3. Hiiro no Kakera. Ermm.... this was a bit of a trap. I started watching because it falls into the supernatural genre, but the amount of sappy stuff and 'to-be-developed-romance' is just too damn high. Way out of my league. And too many bishies. Wait, did I just complain about bishies? I must be evolving. I'll probably be dropping this one around the 5th episode or so.
4. Ozma. Now this is a series I have been expecting. The first thing one can note about this show is the stunning artwork. SImply beautiful landscapes changed before my eyes, leaving me jawdropping in awe. However, at some point, a character appears, and it just doesn't blend in. It feels as if the background and the character design are from totally different series. Just as I was getting accustomed to the character design, bang, CG appears. Now, I'm not an expert or anything, but I simply don't like CG that is in your face. I like it smooth, natural, blending in. Plot related, I am not entirely thrilled. I don't know what I was expecting, but I was certainly expecting more. Well, I will stick with it, that's for sure.
And now, the AWESOME begins.
Tsuritama. I laughed so hard. I love the animation style, the music, the idea, and oh, the anxiety, just to quote another blogger. This series is so much fun, I can't wait for the next episode to come out. Best line I have heard in a while: *flat voice* "the alien and the hannya". ROFL. And. A goose named Tapioca. Fuck yeah.
Uchuu Kyoudai. YES! YES! And I'll be yelling Yes! over and over till I'm fully conviced that I managed to let everyone know how happy I am when I encounter series like this. It's with astronauts, people trying to become astronauts and visit the Moon, Mars and whatnot. I simply love it, I love and greatly admire Mu-chan, he is so much fun and a great example of how a character made of win should be. The opening song is great xD karaoke, anyone?
Sakamichi no Apollon. I especially saved this for the end. They say that the fist and the last bites of food are the best. Well, in this case, the last bite is certainly... heavenly! God knows I've been waiting for a long time for Watanabe-sama to grab his pencils. And he did it. And not alone, but re-uniting what is probably the best combo the anime world has ever seen: Watanabe and Yoko Kanno. What can I say? Expect nothing but "OMFG this is epic" from me, because I have only watched one episode and it's already growing on me. I can't wait for the next episode!
Music - The Seatbelts - What Planet is This? because a goose named Tapioca is fuck yeah! xD
