Glasslip

Sep 26, 2014

This was originally a recap on the finale (containing spoilers) as well as the following final impressions. This was originally posted on my old anime blog, Moe Monster.
Glasslip title screen. Glasslip is vile. The show contains zero merit worth mentioning and will turn small children into drug fiends and human traffickers. That may sound harsh in a way, but I just finished watching episode 13, so take my word for it. In this final impressions, I’ll go over Glasslip‘s production and storytelling, give the show a rating and issue multiple warnings as to why no one should... See full review

Aldnoah.Zero

Sep 21, 2014

This was originall posted on my old blog, Moe Monster. Also, yhis was originally a recap on the finale (containing spoilers) as well as the following final impressions.
Aldnoah.Zero title screen. This was the worst show I’ve sat though in a few years. Usually, I’d drop a show as terrible and contrived as this after a few episodes. For me however, I had fun reviewing and trying to convert people. I’ll start wih a brief synopsis, before explaining... See full review

Knights of Sidonia

Jun 28, 2014

This was originally a recap on the finale (containing spoilers) as well as the following final impressions. It was originally posted on my old anime blog.
Sidonia no Kishi – Knights of Sidonia, title screen. Welcome to the literal future. This is a time traveling review about an anime that weirdly became my favorite of the Spring 2014 season. With the initial premise, the computer generated creation, some sneeky-peeky at that source manga — well... See full review

Blue Spring Ride

Oct 2, 2014

This was originally a recap on the finale(with spoilers) and final impressions posted on my old anime blog. The screenshots were lost somewhere in transition.
Ao Haru Ride. Hello and welcome to my Ao Haru Ride review. There won’t be any spoilers contained herein, which doesn’t really matter anyway, considering that this is easily the most predictable series I’ve seen this year. It’s especially predictable if you’ve seen a few romantic-type comedies based in the shoujo genre. Don’t mistake predictable for bad, mind you. It’s just as the... See full review

Tokyo Ghoul

Sep 18, 2014

This was originally a recap on the finale (with spoilers), posted on my old anime blog.
Tokyo Ghoul title screen. Welcome to Tokyo Ghoul, the show that puts a twist on the bunny girl trope. There was a good amount of hype for Tokyo Ghoul just prior to the premier episode. The manga seemed to have a faithful fan-base, the animation and characters all looked very slick. The question was, whether or not there was any substance... See full review

Barakamon

Oct 8, 2014

This was originally a recap on the finale(with spoilers) and final impressions posted on my old anime blog. The screenshots were lost somewhere in transition.
Barakamon title screen. Barakamon is a show about a pretentious, sheltered and impulsively violent artist from Tokyo. This will be a shorter “final impressions’ than I normally write up, because honestly, there’s not much to say. Both all the reasons why I enjoyed and... See full review

Jun 23, 2014

This was originally a recap on the finale (containing spoilers) as well as the following final impressions. It was originally published on my old anime blog.

Jun 22, 2014

This was originally a final impressions post, along with a finale recap (containing spoilers & uncensored objectionable material) that was posted on my old anime blog.
Dragonar Final title screen. Seikoku no Dragonar, or Dragonar Academy, is about boobs, mainly. Sometimes it’s about butts, underwear and pre-teen orgasms — but mainly boobs. Oh yeah, I forgot tentacle rape, of which there’s plenty. Not that I counted but... See full review

Tokyo ESP

Oct 9, 2014

This was originally a recap on the finale(with spoilers) and final impressions posted on my old anime blog. The screenshots were lost somewhere in transition.
Tokyo ESP title screen. Tokyo ESP is a bland superhero anime. Based on an on-going manga (at the time this was written) It seems to have drawn major inspiration from American-style comic books. Indeed, there’s even several references to international films as well. The series has its... See full review

No Game No Life

Jun 25, 2014

This was originally a recap (including spoilers) that was posted on my old anime blog. No Game is a quick colorful comedy, with lots of fan service and fun characters, all based in the original world of Disboard. The animated series is based on the ongoing light novels of the same name by Yu Kamiya, a Brazilian-Japanese author. The light novels were also adapted into... See full review

Residents parting shot. I’m going to flip my usual format for final impressions. I’ll give Kawaisou my fair rating with a quick abstract before delving a bit deeper for the reasons behind it. This was originally post on my blog, and featured a small season recap as well.
I’ll miss Onodera. The Nisekoi coaster comes to an end with episode 20. Instead of the usual episodic recap and review I usually write, I’ll be giving a short season recap, some final thoughts on the series, as well as a fair and balanced rating.

Noragami (Lit. Stray God) I started to write about how I began to enjoy Noragami around the eight episode mark, but I couldn’t continue. I didn’t regret watching this smaller scale ghost hunter anime from the folks at the Bones studios. But I can’t say I greatly enjoyed it either. A quick recap, with some thoughts and impressions. Sep 30, 2011

This was originally a blog post found on my blog, Moe Monster.
神様ドォルズ, Kamisama Dolls I’ve just danced my last samba to the opening of Kamisama Dolls. As the saying goes, all mediocre things must come to an end–or at the very least, “To be next story.” Like other finales, some thoughts on the final episode before thoughts relating to the series. Hi friends. Welcome to Kamisama Dolls, the show with incredibly conflicting moments. One minute there’ll be a cute little girl breaking dishes and in the next minute there’ll be a... See full review

Nichijou: My Ordinary Life

Sep 25, 2011

This was originally a blog post found on my old blog Moe Monster.
日常. Nichijou. My Ordinary Life.
Selamat pagi! This is an ordinary story of a little show, that was hit-or-miss at times and at times was seemingly too long, but over the last two seasons, each of my anime-watching weeks was anchored by the fun Nichijou. The watching of which, will surely go down as a singular experience. A brief summary and observations on the finale, before some thoughts on the series in its entirety. For much of the series and watching week-to-week, I wasn’t 100% sold on Nichijou. I sometimes... See full review

Sep 20, 2011

Charming final title screen.

There were no sudden plot developments or real changes to the show’s slow and steady stroll through the Galerie. For any anime fans who gave this a look-see at the start of the Summer 2011, their first impressions were most likely correct. Yune is a young Japanese girl brought back to late 19th-century Paris by an older French gentleman. There she works as a live-in maid at the metal shop, Enseignes du Roy, run by the gentleman’s grandson. The story features these three and a small handful... See full review

Bunny Drop

Sep 16, 2011

This was originally a blog post found on my blog, Moe Monster.
Rin and Daikichi's origin story. Usagi Drop is easily my favorite show of the year so far. Easily so, in fact. I’ve enjoyed others, like Madoka, AnoHana, Steins;Gate, etc, but this was a gem through and through. It just oozed smoothness and had an ease to it I don’t think I’ve ever seen in an anime. Some other kind of true to life shows I might compare it to would be the depressing, but ultimately rewarding, Welcome to the N.H.K and the stellar romantic-dramedy Nodame Cantabile. I’ll try my best to identity some of... See full review

Deadman Wonderland

Deadman Wonderland -- Coolish and Foolish If you like bloody violence and white girl butt, Deadman Wonderland was made for you. I was hoping the season finale would redeem a rocky last couple episodes, but it’s pretty much a mess. Some thoughts and my “cool” list.
Ganta makes guest appearance in season 2 of Saki. The season finale of Deadman Wonderland attempts to do a lot. It tries wrap up a bunch of loose ends, while also attempting to set up a second season. It was a difficult task, and I’ll cut the... See full review

The World God Only Knows II

Jun 28, 2011

This was originally a blog post found on my old blog, Moe Monster.

Yokkyun!!

The World God Only Knows has continued to impress me over its two seasons, mainly due to its consistency. With its short story arc formula, I don’t think this anime will ever hit god-like status, but for me, week in and week out I had more fun watching this, than any other show this season.

Millhiore should have summoned a Hero to save this show

Our adventuring days are coming to a close as Shinku will surely be going home in this season finale. Oh Dog Days, to quote Eclair, “I have no confidence that I’ll remember you.” With that in mind, let me quickly give my final thoughts while I do still remember.

A-Channel

Jun 24, 2011

This was a blog post originally posted on my old blog, Moe Monster.
I’m a little angry with how A-Channel ended. I thought the series had its ups and downs, which is fine, but why did it wait to the very last episode to be at its absolute finest? I’ll have some thoughts about the finale, mixing in my overall thoughts and observations about the series.

The season finale, in my opinion, was probably the best episode of the series. It seemed to combine the drama, comedy and slice of life ingredients (all the components I’ve enjoyed the most) into one well executed, well paced... See full review
