Greetings all, welcome to my profile, I have updated this once again.
Grew up with a love for science fiction and fantasy, which eventually led me to anime. I tend to prefer thought-provoking shows with dark and tragic elements. Shows with elements a bit left of centre or slightly odd tend to catch my attention.
A reason I got really into anime is the way some stories are told. Shows like Neon Genesis Evangelion have ambiguity which leaves it up to the viewer to decide certain things. In Ghost in the Shell, I enjoyed pondering the notion of identity and cyborgs. Are they human beings if parts of them are robotic? Are cyborgs human if they have a soul? So it's these things, combined with the joy of escaping reality that drew me into the world of anime.
That being said, I am also open-minded and don't mind romance and slice of shows on the odd occasion. I like to spend time researching shows I might like, hence why I'm on Anime-Planet. The recommendations aspect I find very helpful.
I rate a show purely on how much I enjoyed it.
