My sister is 14 years older than me and my brother is 10 years older then me, and both of them are into anime. I grew up always seeing video games or anime on the TV, so I guess you could say it's in my blood.  I think I grew up with the typical anime that all 90s kids had... SM, DB and DBZ, Slayers, Outlaw Star, etc. I think because of this, I have a great fondness for older anime and tend to prefer it by default. I really, really prefer hand-drawn anime.

While I love watching anime, I'm a reader by nature and have taken to manga more nowadays.  I've been out of the anime/manga scene for awhile and am trying to read and watch those that I just must see before I die.

My favorite anime ever is Now and Then, Here and There.  Sailor Moon gets an honorable mention, though, because I was so obsessed with it when I was kid.  I really thought I would turn into Sailor Jupiter when I hit 14.  I really did. (No, I'm actually not kidding.  I was actually convinced and I think maybe I suffered from Chunibyou!)

My favorite manga is Fruits Basket.  I feel like that manga basically defined my high school experience.

As I mentioned before, I've been out of the anime scene for awhile. Feel free to recommend me anything worthwhile! :)

I have actually watched all the original, and I'm coming towards the end of where the original left off in the remake. There are quite a few differences, although much of it is the same. It's nice to have the detail from the original too, but to be honest, unless you're willing to rewatch the same arcs twice or stumble around in an attempt to find the episode where the original left off in the remake, I wouldn't bother. The art is so much better in the remake, although it seems a little out of place as I'm more used to this sort of series having older art.

I don't mind fillers particularly, but the H x H fillers are literally recaps narrated by a character they barely introduce in the remake because she's kinda important and she would have 5 seconds of screen time otherwise before she's needed again.

I'm mostly watching it because it's the main gif I use when greeting new members, and I kinda want to know what I'm talking about. It's so adorable though... So adorable...

Haha, I hope you enjoy it! I'm sure you will though :) This is actually the first season I've watched more than one series as it came out, so it's exciting for me too!

Both the original and the remake of H x H are quite long (oh yeah, there are two versions), although nowhere near as long as some are. The remake covers more content in a shorter amount of time (in 40 episodes they covered what the original did in 60), although the remake is not as detailed and has some fillers too (how they fitted them in I will never know). It's really not episodic, even at the beginning, which I was happy about. It is kinda formulaic, but the original only covers 3 arcs, so it's not that noticeable. I absolutely love the characters in H x H, they're a lot more three dimensional than I find they usually are. Yeah, I'd say Inuyasha is more of a shoujo, although I think they tried to aim it at a wider market.

I used to hate dropping shows too, but frankly life is too short and there are far too many good anime to watch to waste time on bad ones.

Some anime you just need to be in the right mood for! Black Butler is definitely one of those series that seems a million times better if you watch it as one of your first anime.

Monster sounds awesome, I'll have to try it!

I absolutely love Hunter x Hunter, even though I really wasn't expecting to. I usually find old shounen series get dull and a bit repetitive, but for some reason (mostly the characters I think), Hunter x Hunter seems so much more interesting. Plus you would never get a twelve year old ripping out a guy's heart in something like Dragon Ball.

ReZero is actually still being released, so it's a pretty new series. It's a psychological thriller about a guy who has been sent to a fantasy world and every time he dies he is revived a few days in the past and he has to try and stop whatever killed him from happening. I know it doesn't sound like much of a psychological thriller, to be honest I went in thinking it would be something like SAO or NGNL, it doesn't even particularly start as if it is going to be one. Then it suddenly clicks and it is some seriously incredible stuff. I would highly recommend it, especially if you like psychological thrillers.

I've heard a lot of good things about Monster, but I'm not really sure what it's about. What's it like?

I thought Black Butler was a good way to kill time, but I'm not a huge fan of it either.

I'm watching loads at the moment! My favourite series Im watching at the moment would have to be ReZero, but I'm also watching Hunter x Hunter and a load of series from this season. Not sure which one of them I like best yet, as most have only had 1 episode out!
