From Far Away

on Aug 2, 2016

Okay, so...if you're very into shoujo, this is the perfect manga for you.  It has everything a good shoujo manga needs.  A cute girl with good intentions who happens to have some kind of supernatural power + a handsome hero who is super strong with a heart of gold + a villain who is trying to keep them apart = perfect shoujo ever.  All it's missing is a love triangle, but I'm really glad it didn't have that... The story of From Far Away/Kanata Kara follows young Noriko, a high school girl who is mysteriously transported to a magical land. She is thrown into the arms of Izark, a handsome... See full review

Uzumaki: Spiral into Horror

on Jul 23, 2016

You know, for a manga that came so highly recommended, I was really, really disappointed with its execution. The story of Uzumaki follows a small town that is being cursed by spirals.  The people are becoming obsessed with them.  Some are becoming so obsessed that they actually want to turn into a spiral.  Others are becoming so terrified that they'll do anything they can to avoid them.  Either way, the obsession consumes the people's lives until it becomes something alive, dangerous and unescapable. The art was just stunning.  Holy smokes, it was absolutely beautiful.  The... See full review

Monster

on Jul 21, 2016

The story of Monster follows an enthusiastic, naive doctor named Dr. Teams who makes a decision to save a life, as all doctors do. Only that decision turns out to have dire consequences when he realizes that the life he saved is that of a psychopathic young man. Tenma them sets out on a journey to undue the damage: to kill what he saved.  It's honestly a fantastic premise and the only reason I gave it a 9/10 instead of a 10/10 is because I don't know how I felt about the ending. The art is an interesting topic... The backgrounds were awesome and super accurate in terms of landscapes, but the side... See full review

Nana

on Jun 22, 2012

Due to the fact that I've heard the mangaka will not be continuing this story, I am going to review it. I've read the maximum number of chapters available and really hope one day she chooses to continue it. The STORY of NANA follows two twenty year old girls who share the same name: Nana.  Nana Komatsu, who later becomes known as Hachi(ko) is following her boyfriend to Tokyo.  Nana Osaki, who gets to keep her name, is going to Tokyo for very different reasons: to become a punk rock star.  These two girls meet on a train and then coincidentally end up trying to rent the same apartment... Fruits Basket

on Jun 21, 2012

**THE SPOILERS!  THEY'RE EVERYWHERE! I'm trying to think of how I can review this unbiasedly, but I really don't think that's going to happen.  Be prepared to enter the realm of the mind of a fangirl attemping to be unbiased. I fell in love with Furuba at the tender age of 14.  The STORY follows Tooru Honda, an orphaned girl who is sickeningly optimistic, as she finds herself camping out on Souma property.  The Souma's are a family group posessed by the Chinese Zodiac.  Everytime they're hugged by a member of the opposite sex, they turn into whatever animal they are possessed by...
