Hi, I'm Hotspot!  I love anime, video games, nature, art, drawing, graphics, photography, suikoden, kya dark lineage, chrono cross and boomerangs!

I'm currently working retail, but I really would like to get a more "Artsy" job, preferably graphic design, but it's not as easy as you'd think it is!

I mainly watch Action Adventure, Comedy, Mystery and Yaoi anime. I am not a fan of Mecha, Yuri, Ecchi, Incest or romance anime (That does not involve two men).
I'm pretty easy going, especially when it comes to video games and anime! I tend to rate things very high, if I loved it, it gets a 5, if it was great! It gets a 4, shows that I like are 3 and everything else is below. I don't understand people who give low ratings to every anime they've seen, it makes no sense to me...  It's no wonder half the anime on Anime-Planet is all 3.0 and under... People are too negative, if you ask me.

hotspot says...  Hi there! Thanks for the comment on my profile! I am a big creator of lists, that's for sure. I am very well aware not to make lists visible for everyone, when it's more for myself. (In fact, I have 9 lists only visible to myself, as I like to keep track of years I watched something.) I do also notice public lists by other people, that don't fit the criteria, all the time, so I'm surprised that out of all of the lists, mine were targeted. But the lists I had for everyone, were all lists that I found appropriate for people if they were looking for a certain anime... such as Shounen-ai anime, or anime's with a female lead (Which I think can be a rare find). The ones visible, I found to fit that criteria, and for that reason I made visible to the public.  If you could explain exactly what you found wrong with the ones I made visible, I could better fix the subject matter.

First, I want to apologize for my late reply to this.  I missed seeing/replying to a page of my comments and I didn't notice till now. Am sorry.  Second, I want to explain that you weren't specifically selected or targeted.  I am (slowly) going through the custom lists to review, and one of your lists happened to show up on my review sheet, and I review all lists for a person when I do list reviews.  (Most likely, I haven't yet gotten to do a review of some of the lagain changing the following lists of yours to Profile status.  Please do not change them to Everyone (Community ists you've seen that you think don't fit Community criteria.)

As I mentioned in my earlier comment to you, the reason I changesd the status of some of your lists is because they are missing reasons for each entry.  To be specific, I am changing AGAIN back to Profile status these lists:  (*Please do not change their status to Everyone/Community unless you add reasons for each entry)

*Anime with a Female lead - you could list the name of the female leads and a liitle bit about them

Anime You Should Watch! - you have reasons for some, but a good many are still missing reasons (Tell us -why- you think we should watch these)

Most favorite anime of all time - tell us WHY!  What did you enjoy so much that made these favorites?

New Anime to Watch - why do you recommend THESE titles?

*Shounen-Ai/Yaoi Television series - give us reasons why we should watch these particular shows and use your list rather than just calling up the yaoi or shounen-ai tags  (Just listing as"homo-erotic" isn't really reason enough)

Note that I've left your Anime with a catch/find them all Theme and Similar Characters lists as Commmunity lists...

Hello, and thanks for adding custom lists on Anime-Planet!

The site currently utilizes privacy levels for lists, including ‘Private’ (the default value for custom lists), and ‘People who visit my profile’ for personal tracking (‘Things I plan to watch in 2016’) that your friends might want to know about, or personal challenge lists, etc. These can be seen in your profile, or everywhere across the site for those who follow you. Here’s a full writeup of the privacy levels.

Some of your lists have been changed to ‘People who visit my profile’ - you’ll see a small eye icon (that only you or your followers will see) next to these lists titles, because they don't list descriptions/reasons for the anime being on the list and/or they are personal-type lists. If you eventually decide to turn these into Community lists (lists with descriptive titles and explanations/reasons for each list item) feel free to change the privacy level to “Everyone” to make a list public. (A little note for each item why it made the list would be great to see!)

Community lists should almost always have a reason for each item, because the person reading will want to know why it’s good (or bad) or belongs on the list.  Listing reasons shows why THESE anime shows are included on YOUR list!

Thanks again, and let me know if you have any questions!

I loved your rating system. I actually am like you when it comes to ratings! If I liked it, it's probably going to have a 4.5/5 eeeasy. And sometimes I would love to be so picky and be like "yeah, but the animation in episode 6 minute 4 was wrong, I give it a two.", but I just can't do that, I feel cruel and evil (if you know what I mean).

Okay, I'll stop bothering you now, but it was funny seeing that I'm not the only one that thinks too kindly :)

Hello! Thanks for dropping by and leaving a comment, I appreciate the feedback!

I do not believe I have an inherent problem with shounen ai anime, rather I have yet to find one that interests me. The three you specifically mentioned I obviously was not a fan of, but even then I don't necessarily count them all as shounen ai. To break down my personal opinions in quick summary:

  • Dramatical Murder is a shounen ai, yes, but with uninteresting characters and a plot quite reminiscent of Accel World, which I wasn't fond of in the first place.
  • 07-Ghost has a somewhat shounen ai feel in places, but that's mired under Shingeki no Kyoujin levels of angst and without the pacing or script necessary to keep it engaging. I tried pretty hard with this one, and followed the manga a decent bit past where the anime ends, but ultimately I couldn't get into it.
  • Owari no Seraph feels nothing at all like shounen ai to me; only vibes I can even suppose at are from protag and his best friend, and I took those far more as them being emotional about their reunion after protag spent years thinking his best friend had been murdered before his eyes. And again, bury that under epic levels of angst and one of the worst scripts I have ever seen, to say nothing of the totally unoriginal plot.

That's my opinions in a nutshell, but again, they're just opinions. I've heard plenty of people say they enjoyed 07-Ghost, and I'm continually mystified at Owari no Seraph's popularity.

Still, I pride myself on being pretty open to any genre, and I feel I just haven't had proper exposure to any good shounen ai anime. If you could recommend a couple, I'd love to take a look at them.
