I am sorry that I offended you, and I'm glad that you understand at leat a little of where I am coming from.
I do want to make clear, however, that none of my reviews ever intentionally attack people who love a show that I consider bad, nor do I believe that you are a bad person for liking Milky Holmes or any other anime for that matter. I do, however feel that attacking a particular work in a review is well-within the purview of anime reviewing/criticism and will likely continue to do so so long as I write for Anime-Planet.
Thanks for your comment on my Milky Holmes review. No. really. ^_^
Yes. I have written at least one essay, in college. I don't remember how I scored. But in the end reviewing and critique is as much about subjective impression as it is objective analysis. I feel that my read of Milky Holmes comes from the opinion that while the show aimed for satire, the production values overall (animation, sound, and screenwriting) hampered what might have been cutting satire. While this might not have been true for many of the show's fans, from where I sit, JC Staff's execution ruined a potentially clever idea.
Of course, Anime-Planet has a framework for you to offer up a competing review should you have the time and inclination. I look forward to your counterarguments.
