Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen

Dec 24, 2013

Rurouni Kenshin is a shonen anime. It is light-hearted and over-the-top sometimes. I really liked this anime. I consider it the best classic anime. But the over-the-top nature of Rurouni Kenshin worked against the anime itself, so sometimes it was immature. Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen, however, is a totally different story. A much, much different story. Rurouni Kenshin: Tsuiokuhen, or Trust and Betrayal, follows Himura Kenshin in his days as Battousai the Manslayer. It also revealed that Kenshin loved a woman named Tomoe before he met Kaoru. And that's it. There is more, but I would spoil this OVA if I... See full review

Soul Eater

Nov 30, 2013

Seriously, this anime is just too cool for its own good. In a bizarre, Halloween-esque world, students at the DWMA are seperated into two groups. One of the groups are weapons, students who have the ability to transform into any kind of weapon. The other group are meisters, the students who wield these weapons. Each meister has their own weapon, and the partners must work together to kill 100 kishins. If they succeed, the weapon could then turn into a Death Scythe, which is wielded by Lord Death himself. The anime focuses on three partnerships: Maka and Soul, Black Star and Tsubaki, and Death the Kid... See full review

I wasn't the most excited person to go in and watch Bakemonogatari. The idea of a supernatural series that decided to focus on dialogue threw me off for a bit. But one day I said "OK I'll try it, how bad could it be?" So I tried, and I gotta say, I really liked this anime. Bakemonogatari follows a boy named Koyomi Araragi, who was once a vampire, but thanks to a man called Meme Oshino, Ararararagi is now human again. Ever since the vampire incident, he and Oshino must help a variety of girls with their own individual problems involving supernatural oddities. Now you may be thinking that, judging... I'm going to be honest, I don't like Clannad. Ok, before you guys try to hospitalize me, I have pretty legitimate reasons for me to hate Clannad. And no, this isn't going to be some stupid feminist statement even though I do agree that the female characters are ditzy, with the exception of Tomoyo. Keep in mind that this is a review for only the first season. I don't know if I want to do a review for After Story however. In all honesty, I was excited to go in and watch Clannad. I know it's not a good idea to go into an anime expecting a masterpiece, but I just can't help it when every anime fan around... See full review

Attack on Titan

Nov 9, 2013

I don't know why this anime needs a review; who hasn't seen Attack on Titan? Unless you've been living under a rock and have no idea what's going on, allow me to explain. AoT follows humanity at the brink of extinction as it strives to survive under the protection of three walls: Maria, Rose, and Sina. The reason being? Hundreds of years ago, giant monsters called Titans appear out of nowhere and devour many people. Humanity is at peace within these walls until the Collosal Titan breaks through Wall Maria, allowing a bunch of Titans to attack mankind. The main character, Eren Jaegar, is forced to watch is...
