CURRENTLY VERY EXCITED ABOUT THE FOLLOWING:
Code Geass I just finished watching both seasons... so beautifully twisted together... that I couldn't help but watch it. It's like Gundam, X TV and Death Note all wrapped up in to one.
Shugo Chara! Doki!! Oh, Ikuto... how I love thee!
Eden of the East By the same production company as Honey and Clover
Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood Waiting to rewatch the original and till more episodes come out to actually start watching it.
Hoshi wa Utau Manga by Natsuki Takaya. She wrote Fruits Basket.
Skip Beat! Manga... hopefully they continue the anime a little later on, after more manga volumes have come out.
I guess you can consider me "new" to the anime scene... compared to a lot of other hardcore fans out there. I've only been seriously obsessed since 2003. There a lot of old school classics that I regret missing out on. But I consider my viewed anime list to be pretty extensive. And out of the over "3 months" of my life spent on anime it was really hard to come up with just a top 5:
Top 5 Anime:
So I decided to make a few additional lists. (It's raining outside and I'm bored.) I'm not saying that number one is a better made anime than number two... The ranking is based how how willing I am to watch that particular anime over and over and over again. (^^;)
Special Mention: Inuyasha, Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Death Note
Special Mention: Paradise Kiss, Kare Kano, Nodame, Full Moon, Junjou Romantica, Nana, Tokyo Babylon, Gakuen Alice
Makoto Shinkai Anime Creator
My favorite piece by him is The Place Promised in Our Early Days. And I greatly anticipated his latest: 5 Centimeters per Second. I love his style of story telling and all his backgrounds are worthy of being framed and hung on the wall.
Sumono Yumeka Mangaka
She's not very well known and she has a few other pen names. But those of us who know her work, love her. Her art and way of telling a story just pulls at your heart. My favorite is The Day I Became a Butterfly.
I love Howl's Moving Castle. And can't wait to see Ponyo.
CCS, X TV, Tokyo Babylon, Tsubasa, xxxHolic...They put CLAMP on the billboard and I jump at it. Even if it's just the character design. (^^;)
I love manga just as much as I love anime... sometimes even more. There are way too many and most of my favorites overlap with anime (Fruits Basket, Skip Beat!, X/1999) but others worth mentioning: Hana Kimi, Immortal Rain, Hoshi wa Utau, Hot Gimmick. Mostly shoujo, but occasionally I go through a big shounen kick: Bleach, Death Note, etc.
I have a soft spot for slow paced, episodic shows like Natsume Yujincho, Mushishi and Someday's Dreamers. I don't know why I love them so much, but I can't help but watch until the last episode.
