no, anime really isn't for the kids... even the ones that are supposedly more geared for kids really aren't.  well, by the standards i was raised with anyway.  but... at the same time, they do bring up some interesting concepts.  i was never one to feel as tho you should shield ppl for the sake of it.  better to expose them and teach them abt things than let them go off and do things stupidly.

and yep... i remember all the sailor moon stuff like you said.  the first time i saw that, it sort of shocked me.  not the concept, but the fact that it was blatant in the anime... an anime that i had thought was for younger ppl.  i think that the japanese culture is just different that way.  all relationships seem to be very different from what i grew up with, etc.  hell, even typical girl relationships are different... much more affectionate.
