I've been a long time anime fan starting from the works of Tadao Nagahama from the 70s. Tadao's Voltes V and Daimos kindled my love for science fiction and deep moving stories. His worked paved the way for many other anime you know now like Gundam and SDF Macross! I also liked Versailles no Bara which he directed. His most notable contribution was of course adding the element of drama to anime! I took a break from anime sometime in the early 90s but the interest was rekindled in the latter half by powerhouse anime such as FY, DBZ, YYH, SM and many more. However it wasn't until late 2002 that I found something that rivaled my love for the Robot Romance Trilogy (by Tadao), this was Rurouni Kenshin. It presented me a new passion, the Shinsengumi and also to a new genre of historically based anime and it just kept on coming most notably with Peace Maker Kurogane and Shura no Toki. My favorite anime character is Saitou Hajime from Rurouni Kenshin. However I still enjoy many other types of anime, some of my other favorites are works of Osamu Tezuka, Satoshi Kon, Leiji Matsumoto, Rumiko Takahashi and of course Hayao Miyazaki.
