My first exposure to anime came when I was a kid and caught a dub of Vampire Hunter D on cable.  At the time I had no clue that what I was watching came from another country, but I knew something was different about it.  It wasn't until almost a decade later that I became aware of what anime really was, and since then I haven't been able to get enough of it.

I was looking through your list and noticed you stalled BECK, you should watch it, its an amazing show IMO, It gets better the more you watch.

Thanks for the comment!

I have heard some better things about Astarotte's Toy since I posted that blog.  I'll move it now to stalled and watch it later. I still find some things somewhat off putting though.

**madoka spoilers**

Oooh, I didn't think about Kyubey playing an active part in Kyoko's sacrifice. It does seem like her and Homura together are a bit more stable than all 5 of the girls put together. Also of note, I think Homura can't go further back in time than when she woke up with powers, but in the timeline that we view, Madoka meets Homura for the first time afterwards. Maybe there are slight differences with each time that she resets (outside of her control I mean)?

I think the answer is the same as in the film "The Girl Who Leapt Through Time", though it is much closer to speculation on my part- you can wish someone back (including yourself, in Mami's case of "I want to live!").

**spoilers!**

It's just not going to take effect, as time is continuous flow that should not be possible to alter, as Homura has shown to have tried half a dozen times (it's possible that she has tried hundreds of times). While Kyubey is not an omniscient being (he didn't realize at first that Homura was from another time), he did not seem worried at all. He didn't seem worried about what seems to be one of the most powerful abilities in the entire show, so far. They can try working together, they can try going at it alone, they can try resisting and remaining happy until the end- it always ends with Madoka and the destruction of the world.

As for IS, I was also looking forward to a hot springs episode ;). As for the male teachers thing- although it's true that there aren't any male pilots, I highly doubt that there are no males with any theoretical knowledge whatsoever, or even coaches/kendo instructors/etc. I definitely see your point, however. Though it might be for simplicity sake- to keep the whole "one guy in the world" theme for the show, and within the show, to keep the school environment stable- there could be some resentful male teachers/staff that don't respect the new balance of gender power.

Thanks for the comment. I should have been more clear, I was just ranting to myself at that point. I felt that Sayaka was giving me Mami-vibes of episode 3 variety- renewed hope and confidence, to be followed by something less positive. It just feels to me that she is clinging to her ideals because the other magical girls have tossed theirs aside. I look forward to finding out whether that will develop into one of her strengths or one of her faults.
